Ghost hunting anyone? Believers and non-believers in the supernatural can sit back and enjoy this spider web of a story. This is an enjoyable read with a plot twist that will have you re-reading a few sentences just to make sure you read them right the first time. Regina got it right with this frightful night of ghost hunting, all the way from talking to an empty to room to contact spirits to the huffing and puffing of a non-believer. I'm just curious to know if there will be more tales of horror on the horizon from Mrs. Puckett!

"Souls to Free"
I love horror stories by Author Regina Puckett. Her imagination and creativity is astounding. In this story, Sheriff Wilson is in a big huff about a haunted house being set up in one of the buildings in an old mental hospital complex. Why is he upset? Because 12 people were killed there, in the same building, the previous year. Deputy Worley felt his boss was getting totally out of control over this as Sheriff Wilson is determined to not let any more killings happen again. So he decides to volunteer to help the ghost hunters set up the haunted house. Youthful looking Rhonda Byrd has been ghost hunting for over eight years. He explains to her his safety concerns and also that Wallace Webster, a serial killer who killed over 100 children was housed in the facility and died there. Rhonda is hopeful that she can make contact with the ghost of Wallace Webster, and finally there is contact. This is a very spooky story which unsuspectingly catches the reader off guard. It's best to read this on a dark, quiet, rainy night to get the best thrill of this truly ... spooky ... tale. Great job, Regina. Keep the stories coming!

This was a well-written horror story by one of my favorite authors in this genre. The characters were well described and memorable in this sequel to "Mine" by the same author. I don't really think that is necessary to read this first, but it would probably help to understand a little background. The twist at the end was scary and unexpected as we have come to expect from this author. I would highly recommend this 28 page quick read, as I would all her horror stories, to anyone who would enjoy a creepy good time!

An excellent short story about having a haunted house in an abandoned mental hospital. What could be scarier? This was a very well written horror story. I didn't see the ending coming and it gave me chills!

An interesting storyline about a ghost hunt at a vacant mental hospital. Scary good with a surprise ending. Just the right stuff for a good, spooky mystery.

This is a story that reminds me of the classic universal horror movies of the 30's and 40's. Though there are no monsters like Dracula or Frankenstein in Regina Puckett's "Ours", the motifs and characters are somewhat similar to those movies. This is a short story however, there is a lot of great detail with the characters and the history surrounding the haunted mental hospital which is where the majority of the story takes place. A year after the murders of twelve people that took place in the hospital, paranormal scientists wanted to rebuild the hospital as a haunted house. And what is the outcome of it all? What is the public's reaction? And what does the local sheriff plan to do about it all? I actually read this story three times. Not because I had a hard time understanding it but because I enjoyed it so much. And yes maybe I also read it more than once because it was so short but that's because I wanted to read more of it. With that being said, my only criticism is the ending. It's not a weak ending. I just wish there were more events written but oh well. It's still a very strong story. I read it the three times on Halloween and afterwords, I had no need to watch any scary movie.
