Caution: Under Construction

Rate this book
The story is about a butch construction worker, Sheridan Landers, whose favorite past time is to go to the club and get busy with the gal of her choice. Being that she's blonde, cocky as hell with a body to die for, that task is a very easy one indeed. Enter Keefer Gibson, a very unhappy woman in a miserable relationship. She's six feet of tall, dark and gorgeous, but sadly her girlfriend has taken all self worth away. Sparks fly when the two meet, being that Keefer is a site inspector. Their journey is one that will require patience, love and understanding. Just the kind of relationship Sheridan knows nothing of. With the help of their friends, the two women find what had been missing their entire lives.

I was born, and raised, and still living in Brooklyn, New York. I am the epitome of a Noo Yawkah. From my accent, to my sense of style, to my ability to walk and drink hot coffee at the same time.
I love animals. All animals. I have a few dogs and a cat. The cat is mean. (And shady) One dog is iffy. I work in animal care for the last 15 years, of course, and love my job, even when it is a poop fest.
I started writing with fan fiction, way back in 1999, after becoming tired of reading the exact same stories with new character names. A friend of mine suggested that if I am tired of it, I need to write my own. So, I did.
I wrote without an inkling of actually publishing. There wasn't even a *seed* of an inkling. It was purely for fun, and as I picked up more fans, for their enjoyment.
I am a breast cancer survivor, and I am always there to help and assist my friends with their diagnosis, as this disgusting epidemic continues.

Sherdan Landers is a happy go lucky construction worker who loves to party with a different girl every night...
Keefer Gibson is a quiet OSHA inspector who prefers to hang out with her dog than spend time at the club with her girlfriend. But now there is this construction worker she can't get out of her head. At least it goes both ways.
This is the first book of Ms. Vertigo's I have read. I can say with a high level of confidence that she REALLY likes to write sex scenes!! There are a lot of them in this very long book, more of them than than actual story. Thankfully she is very good at writing those scenes. The tale itself is a good one that I rather enjoyed. If you like a little story with your sex, this is just the book for you!

So hot!

Wow, this story is so hot and it keeps a smile on my face. I've become in love with Sheridan. What a player, what a woman! I loved it as Sheridan held all those dialogues with herselves especially the times she spoke against her crotch. I was again pleasantly surprised by this book.

While I enjoyed this book and the characters, the plot was very familiar.

4.5/5

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I didn’t really want to stop reading it after I picked it up but, due to length, I made sure to read it in segments. There are various times when the r-word is used for a side character with mental disability. If that bothers you, take notice and take care.
Sheridan is a player who never thought much of settling down while Keefer is settled in a very unhappy relationship. Keefer’s girlfriend is horrible in various ways and I loved to hate her. I loved watching Sheridan and Keefer grow through the story. Sheridan stumbled her way into a relationship with Keefer and, even though she had her bad moments, she was able to successfully come out of it with support of her friends, family, and Keffer. I loved reading about Keefer getting her self-esteem back. She was able to grow with Sheridan and let loose a bit more and was even able to find her way to new friends.
My biggest issue with the book was Sheridan’s player relapse and how quickly it was forgiven but it was a minor part of the book and I found myself able to ignore it. I also wish there had been a bit more plot and development, but I wasn’t too bothered by it. There were also a couple of awkward parts where you got a paragraph or two written from Fifi’s point of view. It wasn’t bad just strange.
My absolute favorite part of this book was the sex scenes. I will warn you know that there are a lot of them so if that’s not your thing then maybe avoid this book. However, the sex scenes Vertigo writes are hot, and I loved reading them. I also loved the variety of scenes Vertigo wrote, nothing felt repetitive about their relationship.
This book is definitely more sex than story, but the sex is well-written and the story that is there is a good read if a bit cliché. If you want a sexy story, go for it.

One of the sexiest stories I've ever read.

This story has everything . Good character development, good storyline, and and amazing sex scenes. It's all blended in together very nicely. There is no awkwardness as each element flows into the next. It's good storytelling that leaves you in good place.

I liked the story….

Really good story, unfortunately there wasn’t much of it. Very long sex scenes briefly interrupted by a few pages of story, then back to long long sex scenes. Would have liked more character development with both main women and friends. Worth reading, even if I skipped ahead a lot.

I enjoyed the character developmnet in this story and the general idea of the story. My main problem though was the violence. If you can look past women hitting each other to make a point this is a great story. I personally couldn't get past this though.

Dissolving into a fist-fight at the drop of a hat is a HUGE turn off. Such a shame, because I love certain aspects of this book as well as the premise. Didn't finish.
