I had the lovely pleasure of reading this as an ARC. Once again FAVEEEEE you did it again.
Life happens and brings them both together. Jah and Tati are caught up the rapture of love. You know, you just get smitten from the start? THIS IS THATTTTTTT! I am a sucka for a hood ninja that is a lover boy sue me. LOVER BOYSSSSS ONLLLLYYY!!
This is my first read from this author and I will say that I’ll check out some of her other work we well. Jah is precious. I loved that he wasn’t afraid to be himself, he wasn’t afraid to love out loud. He was a standup guy who honestly deserved better than Tati. She was weak and played in Jah’s face way too much for my liking. I don’t see how she figured her marriage would work when she didn’t accept that man’s side baby, he wasn’t allowed to bring her to their home, she wanted no parts and she wasn’t sexing him, she already knew this marriage was over, she just wanted to save face for herself. Kil checked out of their relationship years ago. He was selfish, Tati was dumb and selfish and I wish Jah would’ve ended up with Casi instead.
I couldn’t put this book down!! I had to know how it would all unfold.
This story was messy, emotional, and so frustrating in the best way. As much as I’m a girl’s girl, Tati tested me. She knew her worth but let fear make her settle, and that was hard to witness. Jahmir stood ten toes down on his decision, and I respected that. Kil deserved everything that he got, I just wish we got to see more of it play out.
I have nothing bad to say. I ate this book in a matter of hours. Jah is my kind of man. Tati is a little bit dumb, but we all are. She found her sense. Daddy Cole is a rider for real. Casi needs her queen day because if my bestie doesn’t ride for me like she does for Tati, I don’t want it. Lonnie needs her villain arc to become the queen that she already is.
Didn’t like the heroine needs to grow up. She didn’t know if she was going to stay with her husband until know what Jah head was at. It doesn’t matter what he thinks, if you not happy with your husband don’t stay. It’s alright to be alone. What she did was dirty. I take love than settling. I DNF it because I couldn’t take the stupidity anymore with the heroine.
Jenica has done it again! And might I add messy from the first page! It had me locked in until the very last page. Jah was superb! We all love a rich man that can eat cat like he starving! Tatiyonna took a little bit to get on my good side because she was playin in my boy’s face. Jah didn’t give up though and got his happy ending!
The true definition of MY MAN MY MAN MY MAN….Jah was HIM!! He did not play about Tatiyona…He knew what he wanted and went after it. this is definitely added to my favorite books of all time…HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!!!
I love how Jah was there for his woman He made sure that Tati had everything. Tati learned that sometimes you have to walk away completely yo get what God has for you. I am glad she found her blessing with Jah
I loved reading this story. The title of it definitely describes the story within. With it's wide array of characters, that are driven, interesting, likeable , one lost in fake love, and some all about family.
The book was a good read but tati aggravated me the majority of the book she had a good man but was worried how it would look to people if she left a cheater but I'm glad they got their happily ever after in the end
When He’s Gone by Jenica J absolutely wrecked me in the best way. From the very first chapter, the emotions were raw, heavy, and real. Jenica J doesn’t just tell a story she makes you feel every ounce of love, loss, confusion, and healing right along with the characters.
The connection between them wasn’t forced or rushed. It felt natural… like two souls colliding at the exact moment they needed each other most. The vulnerability? Top tier. The tension? Whew. And the way grief and growth were handled felt authentic and mature not just drama for the sake of drama.
This book reminded me how complicated love can be when timing, trauma, and truth all collide. It’s messy, emotional, and beautifully written. I found myself highlighting lines, rereading chapters, and just sitting with certain moments because they hit that deep.
If you love romance that makes your chest tight but still leaves you hopeful, this one is it. Jenica J did what needed to be done. 👏🏾💔✨
