Forty-seven thousand acres of Ashby land. Six generations of Montana dynasty. And one daughter who was never going to be allowed to choose a man called Legion.
They were caught at the silo at midnight. Same place they've been hookin’ up for years.
While Savannah’s fiancé had her bound to a bed and drugged out of her mind, Legion was getting the life beat out of him by a bunch of cowboys.
Her family thought violence would be enough to end it. They were wrong. It only made the bond stronger.
Now Savannah has to prove what it means to stand by her man and Legion has to convince forty-seven patched members of the Badlands MC that protecting her will be worth it.

J.A. Huss never wanted to be a writer and she still dreams of that elusive career as an astronaut. She originally went to school to become an equine veterinarian but soon figured out they keep horrible hours and decided to go to grad school instead. That Ph.D wasn’t all it was cracked up to be (and she really sucked at the whole scientist thing), so she dropped out and got a M.S. in forensic toxicology just to get the whole thing over with as soon as possible.
After graduation she got a job with the state of Colorado as their one and only hog farm inspector and spent her days wandering the Eastern Plains shooting the shit with farmers. After a few years of that, she got bored. And since she was a homeschool mom and actually does love science, she decided to write science textbooks and make online classes for other homeschool moms. She wrote more than two hundred of those workbooks and was the number one publisher at the online homeschool store many times, but eventually she covered every science topic she could think of and ran out of shit to say.
So in 2012 she decided to write fiction instead. That year she released her first three books and started a career that would make her a New York Times bestseller and land her on the USA Today Bestseller’s List eighteen times in the next three years. Her books have sold millions of copies all over the world, the audio version of her semi-autobiographical book, Eighteen, was nominated for a Voice Arts Award and an Audie award in 2016 and 2017 respectively, her audiobook Mr. Perfect was nominated for a Voice Arts Award in 2017, and her book, Taking Turns, was nominated for an Audie Award in 2018. Johnathan McClain is her first (and only) writing partner and even though they are worlds apart in just about every way imaginable, it works.
She lives on a ranch in Central Colorado with her family.
This is the second book in the Book of Legion series, and it's essential to read them in order since it’s not a standalone. The first book is titled Dust and Flowers.
In this installment, Legion and Savannah find themselves captured but separated, with Marcus holding Savannah while her brothers keep Legion. I wasn't a fan of how her brothers treated him, especially since his only "crime" was being told to stay away from their sister. There's definitely more happening behind the scenes, especially with Colt, their closest brother, missing.
Legion turns to the MC clubhouse, hoping it can be a safe haven for Savannah, even though not all his club brothers support him. He’s earned his place in the club and is now seeking protection for the Ashby princess. If he can’t secure a majority vote, she’s left vulnerable. The book dives deeper into their backstories, revealing secrets that enhance their narrative and ramp up the tension with unexpected twists.
And yes, there's another cliffhanger that, while anticipated, still managed to surprise me. The great news is that all the books are available, so you can dive right into the next one without any waiting. I know, I know, I’m being a bit petty complaining about cliffhangers when the next book is already out. But hey, it’s just my thing! I guess I’ll always have a love-hate relationship with them.
I'm really enjoying this serial series. Short quick reads all about Legion and Savannah. Sex, violence, suspense, action and crime. Dark and Decadent. Can't wait to read the next!
Blood and Grace was absolutely action packed. We continue with Legion and Savannah’s story and how they navigate their new situation. While I felt there was a lot happening, it only happened within the time span of 1-2 days and was more about the strengthening their relationship. I can’t wait to see what book 3 has in store with that cliffhanger.
Thank you J.A. Huss for providing this e-ARC. All opinions are my own.
Now that I am well into the story I can officially say I’m obsessed ❤️
Forbidden love, the backdrop of Montana, the edge of the MC, the battle between a legacy of wealth and poverty. Legions undying love for Savannah. God damn 🥵
Beautifully written love story between two people from totally opposite sides, but are drawn to each other like moths to the flame and they combust at every secret meeting even though they know their worlds collide and their boundaries are set against them. It ends on a cliffhanger and can’t wait to dive into the second book in the series.
4.5 ⭐️'s Blood and Grace is the second novella in the Book of Legion which continues where that jaw-dropping cliffhanger left us in Dust and Flowers! We see the true colors of Savannah's family and fiancé, she's property to them not a person with the exception of Colt but something is up with that man...hmmm.
Legion and Savannah are both tied up in situations they may not be able to get themselves out of on their own. I was on the edge of my seat and definitely not anticipating what happened next but giddy that it did. These two together are unequivocal but not without a force trying to drive them apart.
We finally meet the Badlands MC, Legion's family which he's asking for help but whether they give it or not is another situation all together and just when things feel like they are finally working out, Colt shows up with the most unexpected surprise leaving us on yet another jaw-dropping cliffhanger!! Ugh book 3 is a need!!
The second novella in this 'Book of Legion' serial starts where we left off with book one.
Legion was beaten but isn't dead (yet). He's tied up somewhere.
"I come back in pieces. First, the pain— cataloged, filed away. Then sound— wind through wooden slats. Then awareness— my hands bound behind me, my shoulders wrenched backward against a support beam. Rope, not cuffs."
Meanwhile Savannah has been kidnapped and drugged by her ex-fiancé. He seems to have some sort of sick obsession with her.
"My head is throbbing and feels… too full. Like it’s stuffed with cotton. The nasty taste in my mouth has me craving water. I try to move my hand to my face, but I can’t. I'm tied down."
How will either of them escape or get rescued? A lot happens. This book is also much steamier than the first, and the cliffhanger was something I never saw coming.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book and am leaving a completely honest review.
So, this is book two of this ‘serial’ and boy was it wild. It picks up soon after the end of the last and it just goes on and gets crazy. I cannot wait to start the next one. Savannah and Legion are so amazing. This one ends on a cliffhanger, too. It’s not as shocking at the first one but it’s something that you are going to want to read the next one asap!
I swear JA Huss knows how to right a great book. She always keeps you engaged and wanting more. You never know exactly what is going to happen next. That is the best part about her writing. She is entertaining and unperdictable. I loved this installment of this serial novel. We get to see the evolution of not only Savannah but of Legion. Savannah has only ever known one way of life and she makes a choice to give up her life to be with the man she loves. Legion is doing everything he can not only for his family, Savannah, but also his club. There are so many secrets and so many lies to go around. It keeps the story interesting and you cannot help but want more. I cannot wait to see what else is instore for this couple. I will say the public claiming scene was perfection.
Unbelievable. This is an absolutely original story. “Yellowstone and SOA had a feral baby raised by the devil himself…” and it’s so true. When the richest girl in town falls in love with the MCs bad boy you expect drama. Well this is that x’s 1000. Epic drama and forbidden love that can’t be tamed by anyone or anything. I absolutely love every word. Every heartbreak. Every dramatic and tragic moment. Every secret and lie. Every dark nook and cranny!!!!
This is the second novella in a five part serial and I can’t wait for whatever comes next. I’m ready for all the intense emotions she will have me feeling.
After reviewing the first book, I ended up speeding through books 2–5 without stopping to write individual reviews. Each installment hit hard emotionally, and I hated every time I had to put it down because real life kept interrupting Legion and Savannah’s story. 😩📖
In a way, though, those pauses helped—I had a few days to sit with everything, let it all sink in, and honestly… I’m still thinking about it days later. 🫠💭
So while I’ll rate each novella separately, I’m holding off on a full review until the final book—because at the end of the day, this really feels like five novellas woven into one complete, unforgettable story. ✨
With this second book in the Book of Legion series, darkness settles in Savannah's and Legion's universes. Yes, universes, plural. They are as different as possible, yet their love seems to surpasse everything. In Blood and Grace, the clash of cultures is palpable, but I also love the intimacy they were able to build through the years. Family, brotherood, loyalty and secrets appear but the bigger picture seems still very far, which I'm very happy with since I am becoming completely addicted to this new JA Huss world!!! Book 3, I'm soooo ready!!!
Whole series review. Wow. This series was phenomenal, but I’m completely broken. The writing was so intelligent and the story multifaceted. Although the ending does leave things unfinished so I’m glad to see there is a second series coming. Each book was short so a fast read and the story moved quickly. My only negative is the FBI book club bit at the end. I just did t get it, (but that’s on me) and reading it kind of then spoiled the aftermath of the book. Will definitely be reading other works by JA Hausa though, her writing style is a breath of fresh air.
The first book felt like the calm before the storm. This books is the beginning of said storm. Definitely a whirlwind of emotions. It made me feel so much. Savannah’s and Legion’s love feels unstoppable but far from being easy and comes with a price. The things we do for love, right? For real love. But will it be enough to survive?
The truth of Savannah's upbringing comes to light in this book and beneath the shiny exterior the corruption breaks through. Hold onto your hats folks, this is a rough ride. The world and characters in this tale truly come to life here and it's not pretty. Brilliant writing, not sure how I'm going to make it through to the wait for each book. Still delayed satisfaction and all that. Looking forward to Friday and the next episode.
Book 2 of the series and my days, Julie likes to keep us hanging!!
We kick off right where the last book ends - thankfully! Savannah may have grown up around wealth and SM but when she doesn't do what her family want, their true colours soon show and I feel for her! Legion has given years of his life for his MC and now he needs their backing and protection for Savannah but at what cost...
....getting better! Legion and Savannah are going to do me in! That scene in the clubhouse....you know the one...if you don't, what are you waiting for? *Sigh* (enter in all the emojis that mean spicy spicy) so good! There are surprises around every corner. I cannot wait for the next installment!
I did not see that one coming! The ending had my jaw dropping.
Leading up to that are some rough times for Legion and Savannah. Both are fighters, being together the end goal. Things are not what she envisioned but she’s going all in. The moment he’s never dared to dream of and she’s in his world.
This keeps getting better! You must read book 1 first. So many family secrets I need answers to. Savanna’s life is clearly not her own. But she is the Heir to the Ashby legacy. What are her brothers up to? I am wholly sucked into this world.
I am enjoy being able to watch both main characters grow from book to book. In this book you get to know the supporting characters are bit better. again leave on a cliff hanger that makes you want to jump into the next book and keep reading. I did not see the twist at the end.
Wow, Legion and Savannah are making a mark on their lives, I hope they survive. A definite page turner and very entertaining. 100% recommend this book to everyone ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ you will not be disappointed 😎🖤
I will be honest. I'm not a fan of this MC club. I just don't feel the brotherhood. Legion did 3 years for them and when he was kidnapped I felt like they as protective of their brother as they should of been.
The plot thickens and I am here for it all... Legion/Demon and Savannah have been through the mill and I'm sure there's more for these two to endure in this riveting serial.
This is a page turner! Poor Savannah, her family is f*cked. And Marcus is so sick! Another secret is revealed. Yeah this one hits hard and keeps on hitting!
