We are enjoying the Doc McStuffins early readers. The text is simple but there is still a story (plus facts to learn at the end). I also like that there are visual aids to help with some of the words. I really like this one because we are both allergic to dust mites and the 'dusty-musties' are a great way of helping her understand why sometimes the cuddlies need to go in the washing machine!
Miss 4 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.
Tutustuimme ensimmäistä kertaa Tohtori Pehmolaan, aiemmin nämä kirjat ovat saaneet jäädä kirjaston hyllyyn. Tarina oli oikeastaan yllättävän hauska! Tohtori Pehmola selvittää, mikä nallekarhussa aiheuttaa pikkuveljelle aivastelua.
Doc found Teddy B in the closet. She brought it to her brother, Donny. Donny started to sneeze so he gave it back to Doc. Doc checked Teddy B and he had a case of the Dusty Musties, so Mom washed Stuffy, Lambie, and Teddy B. Doc brought Teddy B back to Donny and, this time, Donny did not sneeze. I liked this book because it teaches you about the Dusty Musties and how you fix it. I would recommend this book because Stuffy and Lambie wanted to help by going in the washer with Teddy B and that shows bravery and kindness.

this is so cute. great illustrations, but one is a bit questionable?? not sure i enjoy seeing them in the washer machine though? (yes, in fact the mother put them in there? might wanna discuss that in length with your little ones, so they really understand.) that is a bit not smart ... considering this is a kid read. never get into a machine ever. it is not safe. you could get lock in and be unable to escape. not cool.
Since the library was closed because of COVID, our library started a service where the librarians picked out a bag of books for your kid (after filling out a form to give them some ideas of what they like). This book was in the stack of books. I am 5 and just starting to read, so I liked how there were icons standing in for words so I could feel like I was helping mom read the story.
My children love these little books. They thoroughly enjoy each and every story, as if they are all unique and individual without any cause for similarity among them. Even though sometimes, they might seem tedious and repetitive to me as a parent, I do enjoy being able to read short-stories to my children that are clean and respective.
I really like this story for the way it educates kids not just on how to read, but also about allergies. The last page has a few tips to share: some ways to tell if you're allergic to something, some things it's possible to be allergic to, and some ways to prevent allergic reactions or allergies to dust.
I did find the "picture reading" to be distracting. But I am very much hoping that this type of reading works well for the intended audience of Pre-K kids and other beginning readers.
A cute little book that will teach the more astute readers that their stuffed animals and toys need cleaning sometimes. Just because they're dusty or dirty doesn't mean they have to be put away or thrown away.
