Anthea was sold to Silas to pay a debt for her father. She was just supposed to carry his child. Silas father picked Anthea to be his surrogate and Vanessa- a mafia princess would be his wife. Vanessa couldn’t have kids so a surrogate was needed for him to have an heir. Problem is even though Silas says he doesn’t have feelings he does have them for Anthea. But his duty is to marry Vanessa. Then her son is born and she’s forced to leave and not ever come back. But six years later here comes Silas with her son. This was such a good mafia book. Silas kind of regretting how he treated Anthea when he had her. And having to play the long game. I loved them finding their way back to each other but I will say check the triggers. He became a little unhinged during those 6 years. But this was such a good read that I couldn’t put it down as I wanted them to get to their hea.

Mafia boss, surrogacy, questionable behavior

At first, I was skeptical as to why she would feel so much pull toward such an awful man, but the further I delved into the book, the more I began to like him - or at least tolerate him. Is he a nice guy, a protector, or does he want what’s HIS? I suppose you’ll have to judge for yourself. Does love win in the end or is it just an agreement of convenience? Not sure what I mean by that, read this mafia story to find out. *Be warned - there are some questionable adult scenes that may be sensitive to some readers.

DNFd at 47%

She says no multiple times. He keeps going.

He breaks into her apartment, puts cameras and bugs her phone, then has sex with her while she’s sleeping - without her consent.

And she never wakes up????

Were they having lunch or dinner? In the same paragraph

Too many inconsistencies.

He does not ask for permission nor forgiveness.

I haven't been using Goodreads this year since it stopped tracking my books properly, but I wanted to add this review here as well.

TW that in chapter 15, the FMC has a dream in which she is teaching and the MMC goes down on her. Then they have smex in front of the kids and he treats it like a lesson for the kids. She wakes up aroused from that.

DNF'd because wtaf.

DNF

I had to DNF when the FMC had a haughty dream and she thought she was with students and they started talking biology.

I really enjoyed the writing style and found the author’s voice engaging throughout the book. The interactions between the main characters and their son were especially well done and added emotional depth to the story.

That said, I struggled with the MMC for much of the book. His behavior often came across as more unsettling than swoon-worthy, which made it difficult to fully invest in the romance. While I understand the intention may have been to portray him as intense or complicated, it didn’t always land that way for me.

The ending also leaned a bit too cheesy compared to the tone set earlier in the story. It felt slightly over-sweetened and less grounded than the rest of the book.

I also would have loved to see more bromance or meaningful male friendships. Adding that dynamic could have balanced the MMC’s character and given the story more depth.

Overall, I enjoyed the book for its writing and family moments, but the romance itself didn’t completely work for me.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Emotionally charged romance

Some people might feel the mmc doesn.t deserve to be with mfc but he didn't how to love because he didn't know what love was, he had never seen it as her was raised mostly by his dad who was a cruel tyrant of a Pakham.
The characters begin the story 6 years ago and it ends badly, for all of them. 6 years later main characters are still unhappy and then they meet again. I found this book to be emotionally charged and the mmc did questionable things with the female just wanting to be with her son who she hadnt seen since he was take. away at birth and the mmc good she had died in childbirth. So many parts made me cry which is something I never do, so was really surprised how the story affected me. The son was the best character and you will won't things to go right, if only for him. This book was my first from this author and I will definitely look at her others works Really recommend!!!

Silas & Anthea are the main characters and very well matched. Silas grew up not knowing how to love and his only way of showing it was through control and possession. He is head of the Bratva, in an arranged marriage for alliance, needs an heir and a surrogate.
Anthea’s family are in debt to the Bratva and basically they sell her body to clear the debt.
Anthea meets Silas falls head over heels for him, she becomes pregnant and he treats her like she is someone special.
Silas to be wife is devious, rude, dangerous, manipulative, cruel, and gets what she wants.
Anthea’s journey is heartbreaking and plenty of tears.
Silas on the other hand is not completely what you think and yes he learns to love and has character growth.
Definitely a must read, kept me on the edge of my seat, violence, lies, deceit, twists, cruelty and tears.
It would be great if there was an audiobook with a male and female narrator. On to the next.
Don’t want to give anything away!

An intriguing story Silas Thorne the mafia heir needs and heir to inherit his legacy and the family needs an alliance to keep his family strong. He finds Athena, a girl whose parents are in huge financial troubles, and she's sold to the Thorne family. A captivating story of a cold-hearted Silas who falls for her, his even colder hearted finance and his father are all trying to pull the strings of Althena's life. This story was an emotional rollercoaster for me the sadness they both suffered through, the cruelty they suffer and finally a second chance at love and a family. This book is brutal 😭

It completely destroyed me. 💔

Silas is cold, brutal and completely unhinged. He hurts- in both the best way AND the worst way! ❤️💔

Anthea is such a survivor! 👊 She is broken and hurt so many times. It’s utterly gut wrenching to witness her journey. I cried so hard- I couldn’t see what I was reading. 😭

The dynamic between these two is totally toxic. ☣️ It’s brutal, raw, heartbreaking and incredibly consuming.

The love, the obsession, the betrayal, the hurt, the lies?? It will break you… but you will be put back together in the end. ❤️

I’m going to need a soft read after this whilst I heal. 🥺

Great read

This book is so good from beginning to end to end, he starts out so stiff and controlling all his father wants is an heir, so he finds a girl who’s parents are in financial trouble and gives her to his son to breed, she gets pregnant and he is falling for her but when she goes into labor his fiancé and his father takes the baby away and forces her to move out of the country or the father will murder her family……..read to find out what happens….its so good

I truly enjoyed the fact that it started and what is typically the climax of a mafia surrogacy romance. There was months of tension and lust being built that we never see. But if you’ve read this genre before you know the typical way things unfold. This just takes it with a twist that the surrogate “dies” and says what could possibly happen if she lives. A wild story is what happens with heavy taste of stalking and manipulation.. It was a very easy read and thought it was a sometimes interesting take on a typically dramatic storyline.

This was not what I was expecting! I was expecting a guy that literally kicked this woman to the curb after giving him an heir and moving on like she was nothing. But the was not the case at all. This threw me for a loop. The twists and turns were wild. They had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. And once the truth came about things 🤯 this was intense, and emotional at moments. Such a great story!
Some parts can be pretty dark so just be careful going into this one.

Sold to the Bratva Devil

This was your typical Bratva story, forced joining resulting in a child, discarding the mother, reconciling, breaking up, attempted murder, reconciliation, and finally HEA. Towards the middle of the book, I felt like it may have been written in a foreign language then translated to English. The wording and flow weren't quite normal everyday language, a bit too proper, which became distracting because I noticed it.

Not the best read

I usually love books with a bit of angst. Most of the angst was in the first few chapters then it went down hill after that. Book should come woth a trigger warning. ML literally grapes the FL in her sleep, locks her up so she can't leave after she finds out, she goes on a hunger strike and almost dies, but shock horror, she forgives him eventually. Not the best read to be honest.

Dead on Arrival.

This book drove me crazy. I wanted to enjoy it, but the first half, Silas drove me nuts. The second half, Anthea did. Silas may be a cheater, he at least grows as a person. I felt that Anthea regressed. I gave up on the book after reading 75% of it and didn’t even bother to finish it.

All Over the Place

The novel started strong then took a dramatic decline. It was all over the place. The hero and heroine
characters became juvenile like. And why is the child speaking to the mom and dad in third person? Author's writing was amateurish and not cohesive. Very disappointed.

Poor main characters

It is hard to like a story when the main characters are disliked. Silas was a cold character and control freak from chapter one and Anthea's character was like a chameleon, changing all the time. There is no romance or connection between then except the same boring sex.

I was left in awe after reading the most phenomenal well written book written right here by Mira. From the very start of this book, I found the storyline and characters to be intense and addictive to read about. This is an ultimate must-read book that has you hooked from start to finish.

Nope

This had a good story line but went off real quick ,. It was like a Japanese soap opera, toooo much angst not enough plot. The fmc was so narcissistic that she cared nothing for her son. Even the mmc changed toward his son after she came back. Horrible

Beginning I wanted to hurt Silas

He did redeem himself in the end that little boy was a doll so loving towards his mom. I did feel bad for Silas thinking she was dead for six years. Happy ending.

Good story

Antheia was sold to the Brave head to provide him with an heir. His fiance was infertile. When she conceives he takes her son throws her out and runs her out of the states. After his dad dies she comes back and Silva's finds her and wants her back.

This was a little rapie

I felt like when Silas.\n You brought incense to make the female character sleep deeper so she wouldn't wake up while He was touching her, just didn't sit right with me.

Great Read!

Loves this book, I loved that it was from both leading POV. It was not to long or to short, good story line and just enough drama. I did want to know what happened with Vanessa and Julian but it was a great read. Spice was on point!

beginning

The book wasn’t bad but in my opinion it should’ve started with the whole parent arrangement so we could see how it all played out. Instead it seems like we started in the middle of the beginning and playing catch-up throughout The book.
