Niveous War is the second book in The Uncharted Horizon Serial. Book 1, Dire Days, spends much of its time immersing the reader in a world rich with atmosphere, character and plot, before plunging into the trials and tribulations of it's band of adventurers. Niveous War launches head first into the fray, literally in the first chapter, and relentlessly portrays the dichotomy between a tenuous, but peaceful, coexistence built on trust and those hellbent on revenge and annihilation. The reader stays in Mason's head, with her deteriorating sense of reality, experiencing everything with her. A little after the midpoint, I had to put the book down so I could process everything that was happening. Niveous War is unyielding, moving at a breakneck pace, while still finding those moments of levity and humanity that give The Uncharted Horizon Serial it's soul. I am addicted to these characters, due to their individuality and distinctiveness, and I absolutely love that McKayla Mason is our guide through this Universe. I can't wait for Book 3.
