A lovely story about an old village doctor and his talking rooster (well, only he can hear him talk). Together they look at life (through different events in the village`s life) and try to understand it`s meaning. The book itself was lovely as I said before and reminded me of old hasidic or jewish tales. It was tragic at times, but usually very optimistic and fun. The main downside for me was that there isn't really a defined plot with a beginning or an end, but more of a collection of small events with different morals that we can take from them to our own life.

ספר מקסים ממש. רופא כפר זקן מתבונן על החיים, על העבר, ההווה והעתיד, ולצידו התרנגול שלו שתורם את תובנותיו, סוג של אלטר-אגו.
הכתיבה יפה ועדינה, מלאה ברגש, לב, אהבת אדם וטבע, וחמלה. ספר שמעודד לחשוב ולהתבונן, ומעלה בצורה עדינה תובנות משל עצמו. תיאורי הטבע מקסימים ומשתלבים יפה בעלילה ובמחשבותיו של הרופא. נהדר. מומלץ מאוד.

Excellent enjoyable and humorous read, even though it is philosophical and reflects on what is important in life, from the view point of a somewhat depressed doctor (which his wife died), and the other bright view point of a talking ruster

ספר נפלא.
לכאורה הכל עובד נגדו. זהו בעצם ספר הגות בתחפושת של רומן.
כמו כן, כפי שהמספר מעיד על עצמו, העלילה אינה מתארחת בספר זה.
ועם זאת, היופי של המלים, השפה, הרעיונות, ואפילו ההגות הפילוסופית, מרוממים את הנפש.
וגם שתי הדמויות המרכזיות בסיפור -- רופא כפר והתרנגול שלו, שובים את הלב.
האחד ממוקד בזריחת החמה והשני בשקיעתו שלו.
והשילוב ביניהם מרנין את הלב.
