As a lifelong Pennsylvanian, I’ve (Ruth Price) had a unique opportunity to meet Amish folks in my everyday life. It’s a delight to get to know a culture and people who may have a different way of living but share a common love of God and a common belief in the goodness of other human beings. I try to channel this higher good through my fiction, and while I can’t say I always reach that ideal, I hope my stories inspire and entertain. Joseph and Katie's story takes a backseat in the second book, and Cora, Joseph's younger sister is introduced as the main character. Cora is living in the English world and experiencing her rumspringa. She meets a guy in short order, and receives a hasty introduction to rough living, gaslighting, and abuse. This is an eventful read with plenty of high-stakes action and Cora's naiveté is evident.
I really enjoyed this, so much more than the first book, even with it not being a direct continuation of Joseph and Katie's story. I liked the new characters of Cora and Isaac and watching Cora gain wisdom and strength to leave Matt and seek out family support and forgiveness.
A surprisingly gripping read, I'd like to continue the series but the library has withdrawn the others in the series. 😞
Eli Shandy (going blind, deaf) drove Katie to Joseph Lapp’s house, She was still the maid/babysitter for: Emma, Hezekiah, Jeremy, & Caleb. Esther (Joseph’s younger sister) is supposed to be Katie’s chaperone.
Who was Emma dreaming about? Cora Lapp (16, sister, Aunt) was now Lonnie’s (English, preacher’s daughter) roommate & housecleaner. Matt (runaway) had his eye on Cora. Lonnie’s roommate was coming back from Boston, MA., so Cora had to move out. She moved in with Matt only to find out he was abusive.
1 day she finally escaped. Aunt Cora had arrived at Katie’s house. She was having nightmares. Cora helped around the house trying to decide what to do with her life.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written Amish Romance book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great Amish Romance movie, or better yet a mini TV series. To be continued. A very easy rating of 5 stars.

This was quite a story about young Cora in her running around time to get an idea of what English Life was all about, she did but the worst part of it. How she got mixed up with the wrong people and what developed from it. You must read book 2, to find out what happened. A lesson young and old alike can learn. Happy reading
