As Seen on Good Day New York

It started with a whisper…

Secrets are currency, and one juicy quote can destroy a career. In this cutthroat world of celebrity gossip, four unlikely friends rise to the top, armed with ambition, charm, and a Rolodex of the powerful and problematic. They trade in scandal, survive by instinct, and thrive on betrayal.

But as the headlines get bigger and the stakes grow higher, the cost of success becomes harder to ignore. Behind every blind item is a truth, behind every scoop, a sacrifice. And when the gossip gets personal, even the most loyal friendships can’t escape unscathed.

It Started with a Whisper is a razor-sharp tale about the business of gossip, the hunger for relevance, and the blurred line between loyalty and ambition. Addictive, fast-paced, and full of bite, it’s the story behind the stories—and the people who live to tell them.

I wanted to like it but...

As a Troublemaker, I love listening to Rob and his stories. I was excited to get this book. But honestly, it just wasn't that great. There was no plot. The timeline was weird (like were months passing between chapters?). There wasn't good character development. And what was the point of the story? It was just a group of people I barely got time to like, if I liked them at all. And I really didn't care about the story at all. I still love Rob, but this wasnt really a great book unfortunately

Every line from James was in Rob Shuter’s voice

So darling! So sublime and divine! Rob Shuter gives us a charming and cutting look into the back room workings of a fictional gossip tv show and how they get their sources. The machinations and twists are hilarious and poignant.
I watch Rob Shuter on The Nerve and out of loyalty to him and Maureen Callahan, I bought my copy of It Started With A Whisper on kindle. Couldn’t quit this book!! So much fun, the blend of real and fictional(allegedly, reportedly) celebrities and their foibles.
A great light read that makes you feel and root for most of the characters, or root for their comeuppance. Way to Go Rob!!

Was this the best-written book ever? Absolutely not. Did I have a great time? ABSOLUTELY. This book made me LOL. I think it would have been better written in 3rd person, but hey, for his first book and for someone who loves gossip, I was SAT for this book. I laughed, and I was truly shocked at times! 🫠 I do hope he put out another installment, I would totally be here for it! 🩷🤫

I was immediately sucked into this story, of many many stories! In this world of celebrity gossip, nothing can be kept a secret, one slip of the lips and it is immediately turned into the next big headline. Even though this is based on true events, I did find myself giggling at some of the funny things these characters shared with each other. You are given a good insight into this cutthroat world where everyone wants to be successful at delivering the next big scandal or juicy gossip, no matter what it takes. I found it very hard to put down because something bigger and juicier kept getting revealed.

5 out of 5! It is absolutely addictive and full of scandalous antics and you will just keep wanting to read more, right to the end.

Awesome summer read

I could not put this book down. I read it in two days. It ticks all the boxes of humor, love and suspense.

Congratulations on your first book, Rob. I look forward to reading many more.

Sincerely,

A fellow Troublemaker

As a troublemaker, I was so excited to read this book. I love Rob, but this was a disappointment. I’m going to keep my negative thoughts to myself and only mention a positive: it is a very quick read.

Just terrible. Terrible transitions, I read 83 pages and still dont know the direction of this book. The woke verbiage just flung in is very annoying. Very disappointing.
