(3.5) I’ve enjoyed the few books I’ve read by this author so far. She has an almost poetic & fluid writing style. Lots of figurative language. I loved Dru and Phoenix as a couple. They had an instant almost supernatural connection & a relationship/chemistry that flowed so easily. He was supportive & affirming and I loved how he walked beside her in her grief and didn’t try to downplay or rush her through her grief. And she was accepting of who he was, never attempting to change him.[They was nasty too😏]
But the rest fell a little flat for me. The whole reason for them getting married was to keep her safe. Cool. We love a marriage of convenience especially ones when the marriage is pretty much real from day 1. But I was disappointed that there were no shenanigans associated with the person she needed protection from. It just kinda dropped off. And then randomly halfway through the book it’s like “oh hey that situation has been handled off page”. Almost all of the conflicts with external characters were resolved very quickly. And there were also some other parts that felt a little rushed through. I personally would have liked to see a bit more of it play out on the page. Either way it’s worth reading just because of their sweet & spicy romance
Oh… like ohhhhhhhh. I wasn’t expecting to like this book this much. First I was a little iffy cause everything was just happening so fast but like at the end I realized it was the perfect pace. I loveddddddd LOVEEDDDD Phoenix down.
First I think more authors should make their FMC tech savvy it’s so bad ass. Like she was quiet but deadly and I loved that. I also really really liked the fact that she wasn’t a pushover. She didn’t let her dad… Nova’s sperm donor, dru’s mama or egg donor walk all over her. The way she stood up for herself and did what had to be done. Chefs kiss.
Her grief was just so heart breaking like no words at all.
The birthing scene at the endddddddd CHEFSSSSS KISSSSSSS that was beautiful. Like straight up beautiful i felt like i was there just cheering her on.. the way her water broke had me screaming tho like that shit was hilarious.
Anyways I have no notes for this book. It was beautiful and heartbreaking. Little drama (nothing that came between the couples which I loveeee). Sage is just beautiful and I pray everyone has a friend like her.

This was fun, fast and easy to follow. No overcomplicated drama. No mental gymnastics. Just clean storytelling with strong characters.
Phoenix? Not weak. Not fragile. She just moves quietly until she does not. And when she stood up to her mother-in-law?
“If you ever bring up my daughter again, I don’t care if you’re his mama, the Pope or God herself… I will stomp a mud hole in your bald headed ass.”
I loved that. Immediate boundary. No hesitation. She handled that.
Dru? Solid. Protective. Present. An amazing father to Ahmed, and that matters. Watching Phoenix love that baby like her own added emotional weight without dragging the story down.
This book flows. It is entertaining without being chaotic. Emotional without being exhausting. You can read it in one sitting and not feel drained.
Ok, so at this point, I'm hooked. I've been working my way through this authors catalog and haven't found a bad one yet. The love is easy, like a sunset, even when life is lifing, and I'm here for all of it. Love easy love, even if the circumstances aren't the easiest.
Some editing is needed, nothing too crazy, like making sure the FMC name is spelled the same throughout the book(went from Pheonix to Phoenix multiple times) and making sure to introduce characters(Lyssa just popped up. I assume she is the FMC's sister but I'm not sure). Also, at one point, the FMC was combing her fingers through curls, rubbing a back and rubbing her belly all at the same time. How Sway?
This was such a great read from beginning to end. The first couple of chapters immediately pull you in, and somewhere along the way you realize there’s a whole mannnn honey and he’s waiting between these pages. I’ve always loved her writing style because she knows how to draw you in emotionally, but this one felt a little different in the best way. It’s shorter, lighter, and incredibly satisfying. The perfect “palate cleanser” if you’re in the middle of a heavier series and need something sweet and refreshing before your next deep dive. Definitely a quick, enjoyable read that still delivers on charm and connection.
I knew from the recommendation of what to expect. But nothing prepared me for it actually unfolding. Talk about perfect or near perfect alignment, here it is. Dru was on point from Ahmad's first breath, that he'd be that dad. Not knowing he'd have little to no help, not even the birth mother nor his own mother. And at that same exact time, Phoenix's world shattered and she was all alone during the process. Her baby's father had secrets. Even her father seemed to not care. But worlds intertwined, along with fate, brings destiny together. Ahmad, playing wingman as Laci joked was too adorable. I had feels from chapter one all the way through and loved every moment.
I love when a man loves a woman with everything in him! I was hooked in this story from beginning to end. The fact that they met at a time that was so heavy for Phoenix && he held her down to the fullest ! This book shows you that blood don’t make you family loyalty does ! They married out of convenience and instantly fell deeply in love !
I love how Phe was able to heal and be loved through her grief!
S/O to them Husbands that don’t play about their Wives !!!
These are the type of stories we need more of…Just as in life balance is necessary…Same rings true in the literary world…Every Urban story doesn’t have to be one note to be Urban…Somebody has to represent not every Gangsta…Menace…Goon…Kingpin”s lives by the code of Cheating…Disrespecting…Betraying…or Abusing their partners…What made Dru that guy is he treasured home…This was one of those reads you don’t want to end…You want more of Dru and Phoenix’s world…
The feels I got from this book...phew. There is no pain like losing a child and the way it was done in this book pulled the emotions. Dru and Pheonix meeting was ordained while the healing gave love and peace with some nasty mixed in 😉. Folks tried the couple but don't let the peacefulness fool you. Another great read from Suntheauthor.
I don’t want to spoil it for so all I’m gone say is my the universe blew me with a Dru they way he loved phoenix is how every woman wish they could be loved by a man. He came in and saved her and he didn’t know she was going to heal him in the process, love this love story I give it a 10/10
Baby this book was so good. This is what I needed in my life. I love how Dru really spoke life back into Phoenix after her tragic loss. Dru is the prime example of if he wanted to he would, cause he played no games about his family. Phoenix was a little broken but she still played no games. I recommend everyone read this book.
3.5 ⭐️. This was a different type of read for me. Dru and Phoenix’s first encounter starts the day she goes through a tragic loss alone while Dru just became a single dad. Months later they run into eachother again and Dru has set his eyes on Phoenix. Dru and his four month old son Ahmad feel a connection towards Phoenix that’s undeniable. This is a marriage of convenience with a single dad turned love story. This was fast paced and a cute read. I enjoyed reading.
I loved that Book Ms Author Lady you had me hooked from the first page. I enjoyed the whole book I hate that his mama never came to her senses but hey what they say sometime ppl are here for a season not a life time. Anyway 10 out of 10
