The Shadow Side

Rate this book
She buried her dream of becoming an artist. Then her art began to show her the way out.

Wren Marie Summerfield knows what it means to lose a part of herself. After a childhood tragedy leaves her without an eye—and convinces her that she can never become the artist she longs to be—she puts her own dreams aside and helps her best friend, Liv, pursue hers.

Then an opportunity that seems too good to be true becomes a nightmare.

Trapped in a world few survive, Wren must find a way to escape. But in the darkness of her fear, something strange begins to appear in her light in the shadows.

Is it imagination? A gift she has spent years trying to silence? Or something—and Someone—guiding her toward freedom?

As Wren struggles to survive, journalist James Fielding is pursuing the criminal network responsible for his sister's death. His search brings him closer to Wren—and forces him to confront whether justice can come in ways he never expected.

A story of courage, survival, and unexpected grace, The Shadow Side explores what happens when the part of us we believe makes us weak becomes the very channel through which strength finds us.

Heart Wrenching but Hopeful" This book doesn’t shy away from the darkness of human trafficking, but it handles the subject with such grace and dignity for the survivors. I finished it feeling inspired by the power of hope.

A thoughtful and introspective novel that explores the tension between purpose and personal truth. The Shadow Side doesn’t rush its message it lets it unfold, which made the emotional moments feel earned.

Relatable and Resilience" I loved how the author portrayed Wren’s internal struggle from her insecurities about her art and her eye to her absolute bravery when it mattered most. It felt so authentic

The Shadow Side is a profound reminder of God’s presence in our lowest moments. Wren’s journey of prayer and finding "the small light" was deeply convincing and beautiful.

What stayed with me most was how honest the book feels. It doesn’t present easy answers, but instead invites you to sit with the difficult questions.

A compelling continuation of a faith-driven narrative, with deeper emotional stakes. The internal struggles of the characters felt very real.
