A horror VHS movie from hell.
This was quick, action-packed, and intriguing, with an ending just as gruesome and bizarre as a cult classic from way back when. I had a good time with it.

A quick horror read with some pretty gruesome deaths. I liked the story and how it revolved around watching a movie on an old VHS tape. However, the characters were rather two-dimensional and the author was pretty heavy-handed in making it clear how awful one of them was. The ending also took quite the left turn that I wasn’t expecting. Overall though, this was a fun and gory read.

Tracking death was a fun, quick, horror filled read. It felt like reading a Goosebumps story at times. The ending felt a bit rushed and was unexpected, but overall I enjoyed.

Did you and your friends watch horror movies on VHS growing up?
We did. Sure, DVD was a thing around 2002 when we were getting into the genre, but we still had plenty of VHS tapes and, of course, television viewing (that were cut up for tv audiences, of course).
Tracking Death by Nikki R. Leigh is something of a love letter to those memories for me. It’s filled with the nostalgia of a time when watching horror movies with your friends was really all the social life you needed. But it also reminds you of the stupid decisions kids can make and how they can stick with you even many years later.
Tracking Death has easily become one of my favorites from the Killer VHS series. It packs in a lot of nostalgia and emotion in a story that moves at a great pace. It takes some of my favorite aspects from Final Destination and makes it even better adding in a fun and fairly sympathetic antagonist.

A horror movie tape predicting murder and horrific accidents. Four friends keep rewatching a horror film for the anniversary of their childhood friend's death. The tapes they have start going haywire and changing. Also, another queer protoganist.
Good amount of blood and gore. A squelchy time!
