Memories We Shouldn’t Have Forgotten is a must read. This book tells the story of Morgan who is living with the after effects of amnesia and has lost quite a few years of her life, but has made a new life in a new town and meets Julian, a newcomer to town recently released from jail that has a connection to her past that she doesn’t remember, but he remembers vividly. Julian suffers from guilt and anxiety, and is trying to rebuild his life and atone for his sins. This book has so many wonderful characters in this small town and is so wonderfully written and you can’t help but to feel so connected to this town and the people in it and you’re constantly rooting for Julian get better and forgive himself for his past even though he does stress you out. You’re also cheering for Morgan and hoping that her memory comes back. This is one of those books that demands your attention and does not allow you to put it down. Such a great read!

Thank you to the author for sending me an ARC of 'Memories We shouldn't Have Forgotten'! The opinions in this review are completely my own.

This was such a cozy, heartwarming read that, despite also being heartbreaking and infuriating at times, kept showing what it means to have hope. Hope for healing, hope for a second chance, hope for a better, brighter future.

"I don’t want him to run, and I’d like to keep peeling back those layers of his. He has so much more to offer than old wounds, I know it. If only he’d let me in."

The two main characters, Julian and Morgan, are so, so precious. Not to be dramatic or anything, but I would die for them.

They have a shared history together, which Morgan is completely unaware of due to an event in her past. When Julian, having a second chance at life, ends up in the same town as Morgan, he tries to keep his distance from her, unsuccesfully I may add.

Julian is constantly working on righting the wrongs of his past. He struggles with anxiety, PTSD and panic attacks due to his past and he works really hard to be a good person for everyone around him. He is an absolute sweetheart and the biggest cinnamon roll that has ever cinnamon rolled.

Morgan is just trying to live her life the best way she knows how, far away from her overbearing parents, and without any memories from the 'before' (yes, I'm keeping this vague on purpose). All that she has from her past is a box with memories and an overwhelming sense of wanting to do some good in this world. She's working on a project, that seems very in line with her past self, and that could benefit a great many people. She does not recognise Julian, but something about him just feels "right".

The interactions between these two are everything, from the intitial grumpiness (and panic for Julian) to Morgan's inner dialogue! *chef's kiss*

Massive shoutout to the supportive cast of characters; Morgan and Julian's found family. I want to mention Roger, Julian's landlord and owner of the bookstore, in particular. He stole my heart at the beginning of the book with a joke and has kept my heart ever since. Such an excellent side character!

Of course there are also the unloveable characters, which were written as they should be unloveable. What I loved most about them is that while they are responsible for some of the bad happening, they didn't really get the spotlight. The spotlight remained on the main cast of characters (as it should).

This was my first Eve Miller book and it has already placed her on my 'if they write it, I will read it' list. I am very eagerly looking forward to the other books in this series!

Books with the amnesia trope always give me a lot of anxiety—a strange kind of unease that’s entertaining, but at the same time makes me suffer. They usually mix past and present, so it feels like a puzzle you have to piece together.

That didn’t really happen with this book, because the author focuses more on the present-day story. We get to see what the characters, Morgan and Julian, are like now, how much they’ve changed, and how their personalities have been shaped. And yet, the glimpses of the past still carry enough emotional weight to make the story feel moving and help us connect with the characters’ struggles.

The main characters’ story is surrounded by lovely secondary characters with strong personalities who give it that special small-town charm.

I would have liked to see more of Morgan and Julian together, or perhaps more involvement from Julian’s family in the story. But overall, I think it’s a beautiful, moving, and very entertaining story that combines humor with thoughtful portrayals of mental health and all the emotions that come with first love.
Perhaps we'll have Sarah and Max's story in the future?
Thank you, Eve Miller, for the ARC!

I was lucky enough to receive and Advanced Reader's Copy of Memories We Shouldn't Have Forgotten, and I am so happy I did.

When I picked up MWSHF I immediately knew I was in for a treat. The romance was swoony, the characters fully fleshed-out and delightfully flawed. Miller did an incredible time job of slowly untangling the mystery of Morgan and Julian's history together, while building an incredible, high tension romance between them in present day. I fell in love with both characters and I was rooting for them the whole time. The duo has such incredible chemistry. I could not stop reading and I devoured this book.

This book hit a very special place in my heart. The way Miller approached Julian's PTSD and panic attacks was both thoughtful and also made me feel SO SEEN. It meant so much to me to see them realistically portrayed. Plus, the way Morgan approaches Julian's mental health issues with such an open mind and never made him feel guilty or like a burden was truly healing. I cannot say enough good things about this book.

I am so excited to read her other book, and to read everything else she puts out in the future!
