Rate this book
Sadie Campbell has always tried to do the right thing. She never thought she'd end up with her heart broken- twice. And yet, this is where she finds herself... mad at God, disappointed in herself, and trying to find her way back to the girl she used to be- carefree, joyful, and full of hope.

Now a professional hockey player, Mason Gray never thought he'd find himself on the cusp of signing a life-changing contract, and still be pining after his high school sweetheart, the girl he let get away.

Set in Southwest Nova Scotia, where the lobster is plentiful and community equates to family, Returning Home is a heartfelt romance about finding love after life hasn't gone according to plan. Just as likely to make you laugh as it is to make you cry, readers are taken on a journey of hope, healing and a renewed understanding that mistakes don't define who we are, only God can do that.

For a first time author I am completely overwhelemed how good this book is. It was thought provoking, funny, romantic and the characters are easy to love. I quickly found myself invested in ways I did not anticipate.

If you grew up in the church in the '90's this feels like a nostalgic throwback! Christie beautifully weaves faith in to this book that doesnt feel forced or heavy-handed. Somewhere between the romance and the character development I found myself changed with a renewed sense of how deeply Jesus loves us.

I'm ready for the sequel!

Engaging, encouraging book on God's amazing grace

A friend had told me about Christie's book and I was intrigued because it was someone local. I thought it might be cheesy but it was not! It was easy to read; hard to put down. I loved the local lore weaved throughout the book - making me guess at which places she was referring to and knowing some immediately. Most of all, I loved how Christie weaved in forgiveness and seeing ourselves as God sees us. I'm not divorced but I could see how much of a blessing this would be to many of the folks I know that are. I will be forever recommending this book.

I can't wait to see what Christie writes next!

What a delightful read! I so enjoyed following Sadie and Mason through the twists and turns of their past, and present circumstance. I loved them right away, and was in their corner from the start. I spent a lot of time grinning, and was invested in the characters and story immediately. Author, Christie MacDonald, had me on the edge of my seat and kept me guessing. This story is full of missed chances, unexpected outcomes, lessons learned, and hope. Would definitely recommend wholeheartedly!
