He knows how to hold on for eight seconds, but can she handle the ride? When city girl Fable Morris moves to Lindley, Texas, she never expects to be neighbors with Beaudreau “Beau” Banks, the rugged bull rider she once had an unforgettable night with. Haunted by her past, Fable struggles to find stability in the small-town ranching life she never wanted.
Beau, hardened by family tragedy and the demands of bull riding, is just as thrown by her arrival. Despite trying to keep things simple, their undeniable chemistry keeps pulling them back together.
As they work side by side, the walls around their hearts begin to crack. But with Fable’s obsessive tendencies and self-doubt, and Beau’s dangerous career pushing him to the edge, their love is tested. When the stakes grow higher, Fable’s fear drives her to run, but the pull between them may be impossible to escape.
Set against the dusty backdrops of Texas pastures and bull arenas, this emotionally charged romance is a story of healing, trust, and finding a way forward when life feels like it’s holding you back.
This book had my emotions all over the place, and honestly? That’s the sign of a five star read for me. There were moments where I was openly crying, moments where I was fanning myself because of how spicy it was, and moments where I was straight up cussing at some of these characters. Buck ‘Em Cowgirl truly put me THROUGH IT in the best way possible.
One of my favorite parts of this story was how thoughtfully Vee Taylor portrayed OCD through Fable’s journey. At times it was heartbreaking to read, but it was also incredibly eye-opening. You can tell the author took genuine care in understanding OCD and portraying it with compassion and depth instead of making it feel surface level.
Fable and Beau are the kind of couple you would never expect to work, but somehow they fit together perfectly. Fable is timid, anxious, and often scared, while Beau is rough around the edges and very in-your-face. Watching him slowly soften for her absolutely melted me. Especially during the moments where she was struggling and needed someone steady beside her.
I also loved seeing them navigate grief together and learn how to truly support one another. Their relationship felt messy, emotional, healing, and real all at once.
Hands down, this is a book you should check out. Just make sure to look at the content warnings beforehand.
I absolutely loved Buck Em’ Cowgirl and the unique concept behind the story. It was a refreshing change from the usual sports romance novels I’ve found myself gravitating toward lately. The premise felt original and engaging, and Vee Taylor once again proves her ability to craft stories that check all the emotional boxes while still feeling distinct and memorable.
The story follows Fable Morris, a young woman navigating the challenges of mental illness while recovering from a toxic relationship. Her ex made her feel unworthy of love, as though her conditions made her unlovable, leaving her guarded, anxious, and deeply insecure. When the relationship ultimately ends due to his infidelity, and so does her career, she makes a bold decision to start over by moving to Texas to live with her best friend, Harleigh.
Before this fresh start, Fable has a spontaneous, uncharacteristically wild night with a bull rider named Beau Banks—a moment that lingers with her far longer than she expects.
Once in Texas, she quickly discovers that Beau is not just a fleeting memory but someone embedded in her new world. Working in the rodeo and ranching scene means their paths continuously cross, forcing them into each other’s orbit. As they spend more time together, Fable struggles to adjust to her new environment while also confronting her inner battles. Beau, however, meets her with patience, understanding, and an unexpected gentleness that helps her begin to reframe how she sees herself.
What makes their relationship so compelling is the way healing happens organically between them. Beau never treats Fable’s struggles as burdensome; instead, he accepts her fully without hesitation. His easygoing, wild nature contrasts beautifully with her guarded personality, yet he consistently shows up in ways that make her feel safe and seen. In turn, Fable helps ground him in ways he didn’t know he needed.
Their connection feels natural, imperfect, and deeply human—two people learning that love doesn’t require perfection, only understanding.
As with all Vee Taylor stories, you can expect plenty of heat, chemistry and emotional intensity with steamy and inventive spice, but also warmth and character growth and some funny and witty dialogue!
Holy HELL this book had me by the throat from page one 🤠💘🐂
Fable and Beau??? Obsessed doesn’t even begin to cover it. These two had chemistry so intense it practically scorched the pages. The tension, the longing, the emotional vulnerability buried underneath all the stubbornness… I was DEVOURING this book like my life depended on it.
Beau Banks is exactly the kind of cowboy romance hero that ruins you for other men. Rugged bull rider? Protective? Emotionally damaged but secretly soft as melted butter for his girl?? Yeah, Vee Taylor absolutely cooked with this man. Every scene with him felt dusty, dangerous, and ridiculously hot. The bull riding scenes had my anxiety through the roof too because you can FEEL how risky his world is.
And Fable 😭 I loved her so much. She felt messy and real in the best way. Her struggles with self-doubt and obsessive tendencies were written with so much emotion, and watching her try to navigate this tiny ranch town life while carrying all that weight on her shoulders genuinely hurt my heart sometimes. I just wanted to wrap her in a blanket and throw Beau at her.
But TOGETHER??? Godddd. Every interaction crackled. The history between them, the push and pull, the way they kept trying to stay away from each other and absolutely failing every single time… exquisite torture. The emotional payoff was EVERYTHING.
Also this book just FEELS like Texas. Dust, heat, rodeos, ranch life, late nights under stars, emotional cowboys pretending they don’t have feelings while very obviously having feelings the size of the state itself 🤌
I laughed, stressed, swooned, and nearly combusted multiple times. The healing journey woven into the romance made it hit even harder too. It wasn’t just hot, it had heart.
5 massive stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fable and Beau own my entire soul now. Somebody get me a cowboy hat and emotional support bull rider immediately.
Thank you Vee Taylor and Luna Literacy for the advanced reader copy of Buck’ em Cowgirl.

What to Expect 🩷 Small town 🩷 City Girl x Small Town Boy 🩷 One Night Stand 🩷 Forced Proximity 🩷 OCD Rep 🩷 Age Gap 🩷 Neighbors to Lovers
When city girl Fable Morris trades the city lights for the dust and bulls of Lindley, Texas, she expects a quiet escape, not a face-to-face confrontation with her past. Moving to a small-town wasn’t quite what she envisioned. While setting in, Fable is stunned to find herself living next door to Beaudreau “Beau” Banks, the older bull rider she once shared a night with. Beau is a man defined by grit and grief and further hardened by family tragedy. Beau wants a simple life, but Fable’s arrival throws his constructed world into chaos. Despite their best efforts to stay friends their chemistry keeps drawing them back in. Beau gives all the cocky, arrogant, bull rider charm I love. He’s sweet but rugged and thoughtful but gritty. I enjoyed that he was more than what we saw on the outside and that Vee gave us glimpses of his emotional side.
Fable wasn’t my first choice of FMC, but I loved the way Beau played to her insecurities with mindfulness. And truthfully her character growth was refreshing. Her part in the third-act break up frustrated me, but alas, the third-act “reunion” gave me insight.
It’s worth checking out the trigger warnings before reading this one! Vee touches on some sensitive topics artfully.
Overall, It’s a great first book into a promising series. If you love a book with spice, emotion, and a country touch this book is for you. And with book two coming out in October, don’t miss Buck’ em Cowgirl this June!
Buck 'Em Cowgirl by Vee Taylor was an awesome and realistic read. I’ve always enjoyed Vee Taylor’s books because they feel so relatable. She does a great job of telling an amazing story while thoughtfully intertwining very real mental health struggles and life stressors that many people deal with. As always, I recommend that readers know their own personal triggers and review the trigger information before starting the story.
This book revolves around our FMC, Fable, and MMC, Beau. Their story was emotional, raw, and kept me incredibly engaged from beginning to end. Fable and Beau are truly the definition of opposites attract. At first glance, you would never think these two could work, but their chemistry is absolutely off the charts.
Fable, who is working through trauma, OCD, and trust issues, finds that Beau becomes her emotional safe place. Beau, who is also navigating his own traumas and swears he doesn’t want a relationship, finds himself completely captivated by Fable. Both carry deep-rooted feelings surrounding grief, and watching them navigate that; not only individually, but together; made for such a beautiful storyline.
This book took me through so many emotions and definitely brought tears as these two navigated their relationship and undeniable chemistry while realizing they didn’t have to live up to anyone else’s standards but their own. This was an amazing read, and I’m so thankful to have had the opportunity to experience it.
If you enjoy rodeo romance, age-gap dynamics, emotional journeys, opposites attract, and a “he falls first” trope, this book may be for you!
Holy cow! I seriously thought Vee Taylor had already reached peak perfection with her hockey era… and then she pulls us into the bull riding ERA and completely proves me wrong. This book had everything—romance, comedy, tension, emotional damage, healing, and chapters that absolutely wrecked me in the best possible way.
Beau and Fable completely stole my heart. Their chemistry was undeniable from the start, but it was the emotional depth between them that really made this story unforgettable. There’s honestly so much I want to say about their journey, but I refuse to spoil it because this is one of those books you need to experience for yourself.
This story is heart-stomping, emotional, messy, healing, and beautifully written all at once. One chapter had me smiling and swooning, and the next had me staring at the page trying to emotionally recover. Vee Taylor has such a talent for making you feel every single moment right alongside the characters, and this book was no exception.
And the characters? Absolutely perfect. They felt real, flawed, lovable, and impossible not to become attached to. Every interaction, every emotional moment, every piece of their story just pulled me in deeper and deeper.
This was one of those books that was so addictive I finished it in one sitting because I physically could not put it down. But now that I’m done? I’m emotionally wrecked and still thinking about it.
This is an absolute MUST READ. No question about it
I received an advance reader copy of this book and am sharing my honest review.
Vee’s hockey books were absolute perfection, and even though I don’t know much about bull riding, I can already tell this series is going to be such a fun ride.
Beau is a bull rider who’s built his life around holding on for eight seconds at a time — and with that lifestyle comes casual hookups and avoiding attachment. Fable, on the other hand, is incredibly strong and resilient, and it’s impossible not to admire her. She’s endured so much loss and tragedy that her coping mechanisms, while unusual to some, make complete sense for everything she’s been through. After losing her city job, Fable lets her friend convince her to head to Texas, never expecting to end up neighbors with the cowboy she planned to spend just one night with. Beneath Beau’s rough exterior, is a gentle side that comes out around Fable. And honestly, I never expected to get emotional over a man supporting a woman while she washes her hands, checking in about showers, and handling her so carefully despite the roughness of his job — but there I was.
What really made this story stand out was the dynamic between Beau and Fable and how they slowly changed each other for the better. Their connection felt genuine, emotional, and made this a book I genuinely didn’t want to put down by the end.
5⭐️ I never thought I would be crying at 7am about a man washing his hands but here we are... And then he ask if she wants to take a shower to feel safe 🥹 again. Vee knows how to freaking write books. The most under rated author there is!!!!
You are going to go through the 5 stages of grief with this book so be prepared to have your heart strings pulled. You have two imperfect people learning to trust each other when they have never given the whole truth to anyone else.
Prime example: I walked away. Not because I stopped loving her, but because sometimes, loving someone wasn't enough when they left you standing out in the cold.
But then Beau hit us with this one: Face down. a🍑@ up. Legs spread.
What you will get with Buck Em' Cowgirl: 🤠 Age gap 🩷 Forced proximity 🤠 Bull rider x city girl 🩷 Small-town romance 🤠 One night stand turned lovers 🩷 Neighbors to lovers 🤠 Opposites attract 🩷 OCD & anxiety representation 🤠 Found family
I will be listening to this as soon as the audio comes out. Dalton is up next and I cannot wait to watch him grow. Then I am guessing Gatlin is book 3. I am ready for them all right now.
Thank you Vee Taylor for the early copy. Above are my honest thoughts.
Guess I’m in My Bull Rider Era Now Vee Taylor has entered her bull riding era and to no surprise she absolutely killed it.
Fable and Beau were the perfect start to this series. Their dynamic pulled me in right away and felt effortless. I know some readers might call parts of this “miscommunication,” but it felt a lot deeper than that. If you’ve ever felt like Fable does, you’ll get it without needing it explained.
Vee has an incredible knack for taking heavier topics and handling them with a genuine, thoughtful approach. It never feels overdone or thrown in for effect, and you can tell how much care goes into it. Another thing Vee does so freaking well? Spice. I was sweating reading this and have been daydreaming about some of those scenes ever since.
She is the only author I own every single book from because I trust her to handle topics with care and create characters you can’t stay away from.
I’m really excited to see where this series goes next because if this is the start of her western era, we’re in for a ride. Fingers crossed this series makes its way to audio too because I already know it would be such a fun listen.
You ever read about a character that you can relate to and you don’t want to leave that story. For me it was this entire series just trust me and my thought process!!!! Yes I know this is only book 1.
Our FMC Fable has a lot going on (I’m not spoiling it here) but something happens and she ends up in Lindley Texas where she sees the one person she thought she would never see again aka the person she had a one night stand with. She wanted a fresh start. But he’s here.
Our MMC Beau is a bull rider not a cowboy *there is a difference, and not all cowboys are bull riders. Let’s just say since their encounter he hasn’t stopped thinking about her. He thought surely just another buckle bunny and I’ll be on my way.
As always in Vee’s books I suggest taking a look at the TW list - we fall in love with characters but she has a way of making us a blubbering mess first before putting our shattered hearts back together.
✨ one night stand ✨ forced proximity ✨ small town romance ✨ city girl x small town guy ✨ OCD rep ✨ pro bull rider
Vee is officially in her bull riding/ cowboy era!!
Buck ‘Em Cowgirl introduces us to city girl Fable Morris and swoony, mustache rocking, Beau Banks. When Fable’s life hits rock bottom ( POS Fiancé 😒), she decides to step out of her comfort zone for one night with World Champ bull rider Beau. Little does she know, they’d soon become neighbors when she follows her best friend to Lindley, Texas to start over.
The chemistry between these two is unquestionable. And the spice 🌶️🌶️ ( chefs kiss 😘). Fable is learning to trust again while Beau is nothing but patient and excepting with her.
I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait to read Daltons story in book 2. There are a few sensitive topics outside of OCD, so please check triggers prior.
THANK YOU VEE for allowing me to ARC read for you and be apart of your street team 🖤🖤
Fav Quotes ♥️
“ A woman who once thought she was too broken to be loved- learning that love had never been about being perfect. It had always been about choosing each other, over and over again “
This book completely stole my heart. I’m honestly so grateful I got the chance to be an ARC reader for it because it ended up being one of my favorite cowboy romances I’ve read so far. From the very beginning, the story pulled me in emotionally and never let go.
One thing I really appreciated was the mental health representation, especially the way OCD and other struggles were woven into the story. I haven’t read many romances that handle those topics with this much depth and emotion, and it felt incredibly heartbreaking, raw, and relatable at times. The emotional roller coaster throughout the book had me fully invested in every moment.
The connection between the two main characters was beautiful, and I absolutely adored how soft, caring, and deeply in love the MMC was. Their relationship felt genuine, emotional, and so easy to root for. Between the romance, the emotional depth, and the cowboy charm, this book was unforgettable for me. Definitely a top favorite and one I’ll be recommending to every cowboy romance lover.
"Good thing I'm not a cowboy, then. I just like to ride something that bucks, baby."
Ok Vee we are in our bull rider era and it is everything! 🐂
This one had me in all the feels, it makes you feel like you are right there in the book! Between the laughing, crying, smiling, and swooning! I freaking love Beau and Fable. The chemistry between the two of them is unmatched. When she thinks no man will want her and that she is weird, there is a bull rider who will go above and beyond to make her feel wanted and seen. I couldnt put this one down. I cannot wait to read the next one 🥰
Vee is my favorite author! I absolutely love her writing! I love how every story has its own emotional depth to it!
Thank you so much for letting me be apart of the team and the chance to ARC read this early!
Fable is having the absolute worst day, her now ex cheated on her, he’s a horrible man anyway. Her OCD and anxiety is in overdrive from running a new event for her job. Her friend comes to the rescue to keep her sane until she falls on her ass in the dirt. Then she runs into a sexy af bull rider she’d seen earlier that day after having a breakdown in the bathroom.
breaking out of her comfort zone, she decides to have a drink with Beau and continues to break out of that comfort zone. A one night stand? Fate has a twisted sense of humour sometimes don’t it? 😘
-forced proximity -small town -one night stand -neighbours to lovers -city girl x bull rider -OCD & anxiety representation
This book was so insanely good! I think it’s Vee’s BEST work so far. It was raw, emotional, honest, and vulnerable. Beau and Fable have a long story that will stand the test of time. It was so refreshing to see a book centered on Mental health struggles and also, a quiet steady love. True support. True strength. This book is a journey of healing for both Beau and Fable in the best way. They heal separately but also, they help heal each other. I really loved that they didn’t rely on each other to “fix” their problems but they took the steps themselves too. This book was an EASY 5 stars for me and probably one of my favorite books I’ve read so far this year. I’m so excited to see Daltons story unfold!
one night stand forced proximity small town romance city girl x small town guy OCD rep pro bull rider
Buck ‘Em Cowgirl brings us Fable Morris who is all city girl and Beau Banks, the infamous world champ bull rider. Fable’s fiance is a total POS and did not deserve her at all. She is ready to start a fresh new life in Texas. What she wasn’t expecting was her one night stand to be her new neighbor. Fable thinks that she is not deserving of love because she thinks she’s weird for the things she struggles with daily, and in comes Beau to the rescue. Beau was so caring and patient with Fable. This book was full of emotions and feeling like you are grieving right next to Fable. I can’t wait to see where Vee takes this series!
We all want someone who brings us peace & a sense of security. That’s exactly what Fable gets when she meets Beaudreau!
Fable is far from a broken woman, despite feeling like this over a life changing event. This city girl had a loop thrown at her and she somehow managed to wind up in Lindley, TX.
The way Beau was the embodiment of a true protector was everything! 🥰 His flirty remarks, his quiet subtle way of noticing and adjusting for her… Seriously I’m swooning!!! 🤭💞
There story had layers of will they won’t they, and then with beautiful f*ck it moments that made me want to cry!
🐮 Small Town Romance 💞 One Night Stand 🐮 OCD Rep 💞 Forced Proximity 🐮 City Girl x Bullrider
Ps: I can’t wait to see what else happens in lil ole Lindley after this! 👀👀👀
Aayyyyyyo!!! This was a sweet little treat from Vee Taylor. We know we love her Hockey men, but goddamnnnnn, she can give me one of her Cowboys any damn day and I'll eat him up like my favourite snack 😏
I LOVED reading Beau and Fable's story. They are both so relatable, but especially Fable. Their immediate chemistry, then their tension, everything she and Beau go through....gahhh 🫠 Also Vee always finds a way to make me cry somehow lol
I don't know how Vee does it, but I always seem to relate to something about her FMCs. This is one reason I will ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS read and recommend her books!!
Wow, the mouth on Beau the bull-rider 🌶️ (who happens to not be a cowboy) The ocd rep? Amazingly well written. I love the relationship between the fmc and her ride or die bestie Harleigh-every girl needs a girls girl like her. Don’t we all love a strong and cocky man who falls first (and hard?) I just really enjoyed this story, the spice was very spicy but there was also meat on the bones of the story and some really important lessons to take away-would recommend this read to anyone who enjoys a hea and is not opposed to riding a handlebar mustache 🐂 🤠
Buck 'Em Cowgirl is book 1 in a brand new series, Bucking Bulls and follows Fable and Beau's story.
"Because the best rides don't last 8 seconds - they last a lifetime."
Jumping into my bull riding era! Beau is exactly the kind of cowboy we all want! He's rough around the edges, protective, loyal and absolutely the kind of man who steals your heart when you least expect it.
The chemistry between Beau and Fable is there from the start! A one night stand turns into neighbors, friends and then into something more than either of them want to admit to themselves. They both have their own demons to adhere to but they eventually find their way through their tough pasts and traumas to form a bond and relationship that will stand the test of time!
Buck 'Em Cowgirl gave me all the small town romance feels!
*This book deals with heavy topics so please check trigger warnings. Your mental health matters.
*Thank you Vee Taylor for the opportunity to read this book as an ARC
So good! I love when authors get it right with the rodeo scene. I don't know how many bull rider romances I've read where the riders are all over 6ft tall, that's very rare. I don't know this author but based on her writing in this book I feel like she drew inspiration from a lot of personal experience. If I'm wrong she's an even better writer than I thought! Lol well done! Can't wait for the next one. Hope it's Dalton and Harleigh!
I received this book as an arc and really enjoyed it. The characters were well flushed out. It’s hard not to love Beau and Fable. Heavy MH rep which is very relatable to real life situations. As a southern gal, there were a couple times I felt cringy by a comment or scene that seemed stereotypical or cliche. Also “impressive mustache” was a bit overused. Overall, a solid read and I can’t wait to finish the series.
Oh my goshhhh! This might be my favorite Vee Taylor book ever! Like I have said in the past, I love how Vee writes about mental health and all the positives/negatives that come with it! Fable and Beau…. This makes me want to chase bull riders! This is for sure a must read, I promise you will not be disappointed!!
✨Arc Review✨ I appreciated the mental health depictions in the book. The beginning of the story hooked me in and left me wanting to know what happened next. As the story progressed it felt very rushed to throw the FMC and MMC relationship further and tie up the ending.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I received this as an ARC. I really enjoyed reading this. The characters were really good and sometimes funny. I’m not one to reveal spoilers. I like to know that someone recommended a book and read it without knowing anything but burb given.
Oh my gosh, this book literally destroyed me in the absolute best way possible! I’m talking crying one minute and fanning myself from the spice the next. Vee Taylor made the characters feel so real and messy, and their healing journey completely hooked me from start to finish. I devoured the whole thing in one sitting!!
Wow… this book was so good! I loved how Beau was with Fable. He never made her feel anything but love despite what she thought of herself. This book has deep topics that are done so beautifully.
I was lucky to receive this ARC. Thank you for the opportunity
Wow is all i can say to this story. The way Fable had to overcome her struggles was absolutely amazing to watch. Plus watching Beau be there for here and give her a safe space to land was so sweet. Their original meeting was so funny and then watching them fall in love was wonderful.
This book was such a great way to kick of my summer reads!! Love Beau and Fable. One bed situation. Love it, also how dirty of cowboy his enjoyed the spice also how the things he would do to help her.. The story was so good!!
