Rate this book
Forged in war. Bound by honor. Haunted by a prophecy he cannot escape.

Tyler Graven knows only war. Raised in his father’s ruthless private army, he learned to conquer, kill, and master any weapon. But when he inherits the Black Muramasa—a cursed sword with a dark, insatiable thirst for blood—he finds himself in a battle that threatens his life, soul, and sanity.

Marked as one of the Four Horsemen and bound to an ancient power, Tyler is thrust back into the shadowed world of violence he tried to escape. Haunted by visions of death and betrayal, he must confront his family’s deadly legacy of protecting the sword and the monstrous forces vying to claim him and his weapon. As rival factions of immortals seek to control him, Tyler must forge his own path, where each step demands brutal sacrifice, fierce loyalty, and the hope for redemption.

With its high-stakes blend of dark fantasy and relentless military action, Sympathy for the Revised Edition is a perfect adventure for fans of gun-slinging, sword-wielding fantasy. Step into a world of ruthless battles, cursed weapons, and the unyielding pursuit of power, where the fate of a warrior’s soul hangs by the edge of a blade.

What is story this is very intense and it is and it is not for the faint apart. It’s not the description that these characters Tyler and that’s all I’ll say goes through and his growing up is just I can’t believe believe first of all I want to say the main character are the characters, main characters, father adopted father should not have adopted these kids the brutality that they went through the psychological I would say reader discretion is advised if you are very sensitive. I am a mother of a marine and my other son is army anyways and I come from a military military law-enforcement Family why am I saying that because the main character is military of what he went through training marine and everything that this individual went through was just sick to me and without giving away any triggers I would say this he is very dysfunctional. Now for the story itself it is very how do I say this jaw dropping he puts you into the story his description the writers description is very good and he touches on things that well you don’t know I found myself looking up objects that he mentions mentions in his book and I like that I really do when a writer does that when they talk about a location in a place and they talk about certain objects that are in their created world and I like looking up to say well is that real or did they just make that up? Is it worth reading? Yes I think it is. I’m not giving it a five star not because of the style of writing he the writer did very well. I think it’s because of the brutality of what Tyler went through it just for me rubbed me the wrong way because he was damaged by this man Lee and I’m not going to give any spoilers away. You just have to read the book to know what I’m talking about, but I am being honest about my critique of this story. I’m not sure what genre I would put it in. I would put it maybe as a thriller mystery fantasy? But very dark this is a very dark story. Very dark book. If you can handle it, read it. I’m serious read it.

Thank you first to Alex Stevens for the opportunity to read his revised manuscript before release! This copy was provided in exchange for an honest review.
It did take me a few chapters to really get hooked, with the slow beginning and POV changes. Initially, I had a hard time focusing and keeping up. Then, everything clicked, and I couldnt put it down. The action we were promised really came through. Intrigue, suspense, and absolute chaos reigns supreme before winding back down to the conclusion and the ultimate cliff hanger.
Overall, Sympathy for the Devil has a fantastic plot, characters, and world-building. His revised novel has so much potential, and I genuinely look forward to picking up his sequel and more!

Was offered to read pre-published by the author. Give it a 5 star rating. The twists and turns from each character is mind blowing. A sort of "coming of age" tale through different characters. The last character standing after taking their place was honestly worth every word.
