“All landlords are bastards”
A dark, funny, slightly unhinged take on the housing crisis, this story follows Jemma, who suddenly finds herself jobless, single, and scrambling to afford her apartment after her boyfriend runs off with her best friend.
Her days are a mix of binge watching her favourite show, Fixer Uppers Go Under the Hammer and selling foot pictures to a stranger online, until her landlord drops dead in her apartment while fixing her wiring.
When Jemma realises, he once appeared on her favourite show, something in her snaps, and she sets off on a revenge mission targeting landlords she believes are exploiting their tenants.
It’s short, sharp, and surprisingly thought provoking.
I kept wondering how far she’d go, and the ending was absolutely not what I expected
A fun, chaotic ride.
