From the Blue Lock author comes a manga cult classic. A superpower drama of carnal desires and primal violence . . . for fans of Attack on Titan, Alice in Borderland, and The BoysPolice officer Shintaro Jagasaki lives a stable life with a girl he’s dated for years. Their future seems all mapped out―marriage, a family, children―but it all feels unbearably dull. With a few screws loose (and his frequent fantasy to open fire on civilians to show for it), Jagasaki’s mind is anything but stable. Then, out of the blue, people suddenly begin to contort into monsters driven by primal urges to commit violence. And as chance has it, Jagasaki also gains a grotesque body-morphing power which transforms his right hand into a fleshy gun. A newly made monster and mentally unstable, Jagasaki becomes an antihero of ambiguous morals and dark impulses.Author Muneyuki Kaneshiro (creator of the super-hit soccer anime Blue Lock, the battle royale manga As the Gods Will―with over 5 million copies sold―and the award-winning series Bokutachi ga Yarimashita) and rising star illustrator Kensuke Nishida (I Am a Hero in Nagasaki) team up to delivers a fiercely explosive story about the carnal impulses that explores mankind’s dark desires―blurring human and inhumane!
An incredibly interesting concept that I went into blind. But as I got further into it I was just like really? Is this it?
An idea with so much potential turned into a fan service nightmare; with an unlikeable and cliche woe is me male protagonist and a gimmicky animal companion. The entire story feels like a mess - the kinda thing that dude bros would recommend by swearing “it’s so peak tho”.
I’ll give it one more volume in hopes most of the problems I had were just chucked in for the sake of grabbing attention with shock factor and pandering to its hoped demographic - after that I’ll let the dude bros have it.
From the author of Blue Lock comes a wild story in the vein of Parasyte. In fact there is a reference to Migi as well which I thought was pretty cool. But that aside the stories are a bit similar except here we have frogs instead of aliens invading human bodies. Where these frogs come from or what they really are, who knows, but the owl who eats them is pretty funny. Plus in order to keep his form from getting to out of control he has to snort crushed owl shit lol! What a twist. The art is decent, bloody, body horror abounds so if you are into that then step right up.
