This was a pretty useful book, mainly because of its month-by-month schedule that lists what's in the stores when. Of course there are big shipments for back-to-school time and in the spring, but there is a bit more to it than that and have a list of what ships when. The author's advice is to go and at least look at all the clothing when the big shipments come in, so you can see what's out there when the selection is largest. She's thinks it's not good to only shop sales because the selection is so limited.
The rest of the book was padded out with fashion advice. Some if it was kind of useful, but a lot wasn't, especially since there are no illustrations of what she's talking about. Also, sometimes she says things that don't make sense, like "Parkas are okay for chilly fall weather but of course they're not warm enough for winter." Also, reading the book is kind of like talking to someone with extreme ADD, because she's very enthusiastic and uses lots of exclamation points! And she'll start talking about something, suddenly change the subject, then go back and repeat the first thing she said.
This might be a book for someone who is really trying to keep up or even be the Joneses. I am just really trying to put together a few things that look nice on my body shape other than a white tee shirt with an American flag on it without looking too much like a teenager and without spending a fortune. She did have some interesting concepts and hints for shopping for specific items such as the best time of the year to buy certain things (of course not while they are on clearance) and ways to lower your tab (since you're not buying on clearance.)
Basically, the books gives advice on when is the best time to buy certain clothing or fashion items throughout the year. It really only applies to people who live in N. America because all of the recommended stores are there. It also has few tips on creating a good wardrobe. It's not so much a fashion styling advice book but a when to shop for what book.
This book did what I needed it to do - namely, provide some advice on getting an outfit for several weddings next summer, in a variety of ways. Other than that, not too interesting.
