Caged: A Rapunzel-Inspired Romantasy

Rate this book
A captive Omega.
Two fated Alphas.
A prophecy that will topple a kingdom.

Aveline has been locked in the Thorn Tower for more than a century—awake, aware, and trapped in a nightmare of vine-bindings, suppression runes, and a father determined to erase her destiny. Her first heat was stolen. Her magic muted. Her life reduced to a cage of thorns.

Until the day two warriors enter the forest looking for a secret weapon.

Malric and Thane are bonded Alphas—brothers not by blood, but by battle, vow, and scent. Sent by the rebellion to find a force strong enough to kill the Unseelie King, they expect a spell, a relic, a monster.
They don’t expect her.

One breath of her scent shatters their control.
One brush of their magic awakens her heat.
One heartbeat binds them toward a destiny none of them can escape.

As the tower collapses beneath the pulse of their triad bond, the King strikes back, determined to take the daughter he once concealed—and kill the mates fate sent to protect her.

But Aveline is done being powerless.
Done being hidden.
Done being his.

If the prophecy is true, then three hearts bound as one can break any curse…and end any tyrant.

Dark fae magic.
MFM fated mates.
Explosive heat-cycle bonding.
A tower that falls.
A kingdom that rises.
And a love powerful enough to rewrite the realm.

Caged by lies, drawn by fate, and pushed to choose what freedom costs.

Aveline lives sealed inside a tower, raised on fear, silence, and the belief that something inside her is too dangerous for the world beyond her walls. When two warriors enter the forest hunting the king’s hidden weapon, they find a woman starved for truth, touch, and the chance to become more than what she’s been told to be.

Malric meets her with iron control, sharp instincts, and dominance shaped by survival. Thane feels like storm tension under skin, all raw perception, buried hurt, and devotion that turns protective almost at once. What starts as suspicion and instinctive pull shifts as Aveline realizes these men don’t just threaten her isolation. They threaten every lie holding it in place, and every fear that has kept her quiet for far too long, even as something in her begins to want more than safety.

As buried truths surface, so does the emotional danger between them. Desire hits first, but trust comes slower, and the bond forming between all three of them presses on fear, jealousy, and the line between being wanted and being owned. Aveline grows into someone who trusts her own hunger, power, and choices, while Malric softens without losing his strength and Thane finally believes he is fully wanted. Together, their connection turns fierce, intimate, and hard won, built through vulnerability, possessiveness, and the steady unraveling of shame.

A dark, ultra-steamy romantasy with fated pull, possessive protectors, and a hard-won triad bond, this story digs into captivity, coercion, obsession, and the slow recovery of self after long control. At its core, it’s about reclaiming identity, learning the difference between love and possession, and choosing devotion, autonomy, and freedom over shame, silence, and fear.

The Elevator Pitch: A young woman raised in isolation has spent her life believing she is too dangerous to be loved, until two battle-bonded warriors cross into her prison and awaken truths her captor worked hard to bury. As desire, power, and fate begin tightening around all three of them, the bond forming between them threatens not only the walls around her, but the kingdom built on her silence. What begins as a rescue turns into something more volatile and intimate, where freedom demands trust, and love becomes the most dangerous kind of rebellion.

Heat Level: 🔥🔥🔥 Ultra-Steamy / Erotic Romance

When Thane and Malric, two Alphas, go looking for what they have been told is a weapon, what they don't expect to find is a tower protecting it's inhabitant, an Omega. Kept locked in a tower by her father, the King, for her protection, Aveline is stunned when the tower let's the two men gain entry. Their appearance sets in place a chain of events and Evaline discovers the real reason for being in the tower and not the lies and betrayal of her father. With bonds developing, powers grow but will they be enough to defeat the man who has been using her for years, her father. Hot, steamy with lots of drama this is a story that has twists, turns and will send you on an emotional rollercoaster. A page turner that you won't be able to put down.

As a fan of why-choose omegaverse and dark fantasy, Caged promised a lot of my favorite elements, and it largely delivered a compelling start. The story of Aveline, a captive omega whose destiny was stolen from her, immediately drew me in. Her journey from being powerless to embracing her strength is a powerful arc, and her refusal to be hidden or owned anymore is a great foundation for a FMC.

The introduction of Malric and Thane, two fated alphas who are already bonded as brothers, provides a fascinating dynamic. Their immediate reaction to Aveline and the way their triad bond instantly forms is central to the plot. I appreciated the quick shift into the fated mates aspect, and the spice and intensity of their initial connections is undeniable. The prophecy driving the story and the Unseelie King's determination to reclaim Aveline sets up some high stakes.

However, for a 3.5-star rating, I found myself wishing for a bit more. While the physical connection between Aveline, Malric, and Thane is undeniable, the emotional bonding felt a little rushed, particularly given Aveline's very unique history. I also felt that the initial collapse of the tower and the King's retaliation, while dramatic, didn't quite carry the full weight of a century's worth of oppression and a prophecy that will topple a kingdom. It felt like the big picture was hinted at, but the immediate execution was a bit understated, leaving me wanting more robust action and more profound emotional turmoil.

Despite these points, Caged is a promising read. Aveline is a strong heroine, and her alphas are protective and appealing. The concept of their unique bond and the prophecy is exciting, and I'm hopeful that the series will delve deeper into the emotional complexities and action in subsequent books. I'll definitely be continuing with the series to see this kingdom topple.

Rapunzel inspired Omega why-choose romance

An enjoyable romance with a hint of darkness, great characters, a trapped omega, two fated mates (why-choose romance), love, hope, betrayal, twists and a HEA.

Aveline has been living in her tower for years, locked in by her father, for her protection after she killed her mother. Malric and Thane had gone into the Wyrdwood looking for the Unseelie King's weapon with the aim to steal or destroy it, they didn't expect to find an Omega, or both find themselves attracted to her.

Aveline had tried to leave her tower once but had never managed to find a door so she's shocked when the tower lets in two strangers. But getting to know them she discovers the real reason of the tower. She's has a wonderful attitude, wanting to find out the truth about herself and her powers, having been lied to by her father for so long. And I loved how her tower provides for her, responding to her needs, and her men, as their bonds develop.

But though her powers are growing with Malric and Thane's support, will she be strong enough to stop her father who's kept her trapped for so long.

CAGED is part of the Classic Fairytales with a Taste of Darkness series, and this one retells Rapunzel. Aveline has been locked in the tower for years by her father, under the impression that she is dangerous and killed her mother. Malric and Thane are part of the Rebellion, fighting against Aveline's father and his tyrannical rule.

I loved Aveline's quiet determination and the way she wanted the truth after being lied to for many years. Thane was the cinnamon roll of the two MMCs, while Malric was the more guarded and yet blunt one. I will admit that Malric annoyed me to begin with, but he grew on me. I also loved the Tower and how it responded to Aveline and her two men.

This was a great retelling, set in an omegaverse that I would love to know more of. The epilogue gives the perfect ending to this story, while hopefully leaving it open for a return to this land. Definitely recommended by me.

You had me at Rapunzel inspired romantasy and then added why-choose omegaverse, and I was immediately invested. It is such an amazing combination of genres and tropes. I love a great Fairytale retelling, and this one was done so well, I devoured this high heat/high angst fast-paced story. This was such a fun read, action-packed, steamy, and emotionally thrilling ride.

The characters are incredibly imaginative and so well written I liked them right away. Thane and Malric turn up the heat together but add in Aveline, and it is scortching. Thane gives that golden retriever vibe while Malric is the stoic grumpy guy, mix in sweet but strong and clever Aveline, and they make for a great dynamic together.

This was super fun and entertaining without a complicated world building, keeping it easy to binge read.

CAGED is a dark Rapunzel retelling in the Classic Fairytales with a Taste of Darkness series.
Aveline has been imprisoned in a tower for years by her father, who convinced her she’s dangerous and killed her mother. When rebels Malric and Thane storm in as part of the uprising against her tyrannical father, her world begins to crumble.
I loved Aveline’s quiet strength and her fierce need for the truth. Thane is the sweet cinnamon roll, while the guarded and blunt Malric took time to grow on me. The living Tower and its reactions to Aveline and her men were a highlight.
A fantastic omegaverse fairytale retelling with a perfect epilogue. Highly recommended.

This was a wonderful retelling of the fairy tale, Rapunzel and I love the darkness and ABO designation that ramped this story up. Aveline, an omega, has been caged in a nightmare situation by her father, an evil king. Alpha warriors, Thane and Malric, have been sent on a quest to aid their rebellion against Aveline's wretched father and expect to find a battle. Ha! They end up finding her and I was so there for the reading ride ;P With fab world building, intriguing characters, action, danger, spice and a great epilogue, this was highly entertaining for me. I'm looking forward to more adult fairy tales by this author ;D

This Rapunzel-inspired romance offers a creative, modern twist on the classic "tower" trope. The chemistry between the leads is solid, and the pacing keeps the story moving quickly toward a satisfying conclusion.
While the world-building is intriguing, some of the secondary character arcs felt a bit rushed, leaving me wanting more depth in certain scenes. However, it's a fun, engaging read for fans of fairytale retellings looking for a sweet and spicy escape.

I enjoy omegaverse books... but didn't care for the fact that in this one, the 2 Alphas were bonded first and had a relationship even before they met the Omega.

There were some interesting plot twists. I liked the hidden message she found from her deceased Mom.

Emotional Depth and a Brewing Confrontation.
Aveline has resided in the tower for a very very long time, when two men appear at the tree line. Are Malric and Thane a danger to her, or the key to unlocking her freedom? I loved how these three dealt with dark histories and uncertainties to find common ground and consent in a new dynamic. There’s plenty of simmering heat and tension in this story - I was drawn in completely and loved every bit of it. A fantastic read.

I know this might be a fairytale inspired read, but it is much more than that. It evokes feelings, anger, betrayal and love.
It has that dynastic feeling, where the outcome would spread to the far reaches of the land.
I thought each character was well crafted and fit well into the story. I loved the relationship between Aveline, Malric and Thane. What was most refreshing was the honesty.
This is an excellent book, with great characters and a compelling story. 5 stars!!

This is the retelling of Rapunzel with a twist. In the land with alphas and omegas, two alphas will find their omega locked in a tower. This is a reverse harem romance with a happy ending, some steamy scenes and secrets reviled.

An omegaverse retelling that had very likeable characters with plenty of spice and action as Aveline, locked in a tower by her father, meets two alphas who want to kill her father, the King and has to learn all about being an omega.

I was not sure what to expect because this is an MMF and sometimes those are hard to get into due to the relationship dynamics and how they are so complicated but this book did a wonderful job and it was a great fairtytale type story.

Aveline is captured and caged. She is trapped in a nightmare scenario. Malric and Thane are warriors who are sent in search of something powerful enough to fight the evil king. These guys expect to find a battle, but not her. I enjoyed this Omegaverse dark romance story.

This was an easy day read, please note that this book is an MMF, unsure why this book didn't properly state that the two male characters are lovers. There is only 1 small scene of them together.
