When I saw that The Perimenopause Devotional was available for review on NetGalley, I jumped at the chance to read this book. Why, you might ask? Because I was genuinely curious. There are devotionals available for literally every topic on the planet. But, perimenopause? This is not a topic I really ever put together with “Bible Study.” But it turns out that perimenopause is the perfect topic for women to take to God. With all the crazy changes our bodies go through during this phase of life, God is exactly who we should take all the new and strange feelings, frustrations, changes, and oddities to. I genuinely loved this devotional. It’s fun and interesting and funny and very well researched. Each chapter begins with a topic title, like Sorry, Sheets–It’s Not You, It’s Me, followed by an applicable Bible verse. What I love so much is that each Bible verse actually fits with the day’s topic. Isn’t God cool?! His Word applies to everything. After the Bible verse, the chapter focuses on a specific topic. The author uses funny anecdotes, gently probing questions to get the reader thinking about her daily perimenopausal life, and many clearly researched, scientific facts about the topic. This is followed by a really good, thematically focused prayer for the day, journaling space to work out the reader’s personal issues with the topic, and a Hormonal Havoc Hack list, which are tips to help mitigate typical symptoms of the chapter’s perimenopause issue. I really appreciated all of the hacks in this book. I found them to be mostly easy practices I can do right now to make my life easier in this new phase of my feminine journey. Reading this book made me feel better about perimenopause. I feel like I’m not alone anymore. These weird things happening to me right now aren’t just happening to me. I am part of a collective — women, just like me all over the world, are experiencing what I am. We are not crazy even though we feel that way sometimes. We’re just walking through a new storm and God is right there with us all, and this devotional does a really good job illustrating this fact.
If you’re a woman in the throes of perimenopause or menopause, then The Perimenopause Devotional is definitely for you and I cannot recommend this book enough. But, personally, I recommend this book even more to women in their youthful 20s and 30s. I wish I’d had this perimenopause information in my 30s. I would have been better prepared for what I’m going through now. In this case, knowledge really, truly is power!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher, WaterBrook, via NetGalley. I was under no obligation to leave a review of any kind. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Being in this season of life, this new book releasing soon The Perimenopause Devotional – 30 Days of Grace, Humor, and Relief for Surviving the Hormonal Havoc by WaterBrook was a relatable read. Touching on different symptoms, along with a scripture to focus on as you navigate the new season faithfully, while also providing some different hacks and prayers to help get you through. There were also some humorous points in the book made, which is sometimes needed, as laughter can be good medicine!
Here are a couple of the highlights I took to help me:
But God knows you. He knows the innermost workings of your body, your mind, and your heart. You are not lost. When the latest symptom has you questioning your sanity, remember who you are in Him, and remember that your identity in Him never changes. God knows you’re struggling, and He gave you weapons to fight against anger, despair, anxiety, irritation, and any other emotions that the enemy tries to use to keep you from experiencing peace. Reading anything can help you wind down, but reading the Bible turns your thoughts upward – to the One who gives you rest. Remember that God created you with purpose and nothing about you is an accident or random.
This is a great book for us women in our 40s and 50s. It really is a new season and this was encouraging and helpful to read. I haven’t seen anything biblical on this subject and it is what I needed reminders of in this season!
Many thanks to Netgalley for providing this book for review! Opinions are 100% my own! I did receive the product in exchange for this review and post.
I have never seen anything like The Perimenopause Devotional before. I could be wrong but it really seems like a one-of-a-kind resource. What I really appreciate about this book is that it is grounded in medicine and science, and encourages women to reach out to professionals along with the devotional content. The 30 day format is okay but I think it would actually be more helpful as a topical resource, since some of the days really won’t apply to some women. It would be a great resource to jump into when you are having a specific challenge and you are looking for encouragement and advice. Each day starts with a related bible passage, an encouraging section with stories and research backed information, a suggested prayer, journaling space and then some quick tips (“hormonal havoc hack:’). Topics include mood swings, sleep, skin, periods, stress, sleep, hot flashes and lots more topics that I think everyone of a certain age can relate to.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for a review copy of this book.
This devotional had the perfect mix of humor and truth. If I kept a diary, this would be like a glimpse into it. Perimenopause is something I am newly struggling with. And I was blessed with an early onset due to having both autoimmune (since my 20s) and connective tissue (since birth) diseases. All these physical complications have sometimes made me feel far from God. I love how this devotional helps you reconnect with God and the woman He made you to be. It gives realistic, bite-sized advice to better approach your physical, mental and spiritual health. I will definitely be recommending this devotional to those I know facing similar challenges. I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley but all opinions expressed are my own
It's about time perimenopause/menopause is being discussed in the open. This devotional provides short daily passages that may have a little humor along with spiritual and practical wisdom. As someone who has been experiencing these changes for several years, I found myself nodding in agreement over many symptoms the author described. The author points the reader to God, as well as providing practical tips to consider.
Calling all women in their late 30s, and 40s. This is for us! This devotional is such a cute way to see how we aren’t alone in all these hormone changes while remembering we are perfectly made by God.
There’s practical application, tips and encouragement for all in this season of life.
This is a great gift idea and a perfect devotional to grab when you feel like you’re losing your mind one hot flash at a time.

I absolutely loved this devotional- not only is it uplifting, informative, and inclusive, but it reminds women we are not going through these symptoms alone. It not only gives Biblical support, but also suggestions and ideas to help through perimenopause symptoms. I am so grateful more women are sharing about this decade in our lives, so we can grow through it together.
