“Do you want me to drop you off at your place?”
Henry frowned at the change of topic and demeanor, but nodded. “Yeah, that'd be great, thank you.”
Again, silence fell between them as the city began to swallow them up whole. The memory of running through the snowy woods with Paxton just hours before seemed like a fantasy.
When they arrived outside of Henry's apartment building, Henry exited the car and moved to the back to grab his bag. As he did, Paxton walked around to the back as well, leaning against the car to gaze at him.
“What is it?” Henry asked, tilting his head slightly as he tried to decipher the look.
“Nothing,” Paxton said with a shrug as he glanced away.
“What? No, quit that and tell me what's on your mind,” Henry frowned. “You want me to be pointed, and I expect the same from you.”
Paxton raised a brow but chuckled. “I... was just hoping that the camping trip didn't scare you off.”
Henry's eyes widened. Wait, is Paxton afraid of me running away? Henry thought to himself, so many thoughts and emotions swirling through his mind at that thought. “It-It was... a bit disturbing but I'll get over it,” he assured Paxton, offering him a little smile. “Your friends are great, too, even if I'll need a bit of time to get used to them, too. I was never very good at socializing.”
“I think you're doing great,” Paxton smiled, his dark eyes warm. When Paxton straightened up to squarely face him, Henry gazed at him in return with warm cheeks.
Is he going to kiss me? Henry wondered, his fingers curled around the strap of his backpack.
C.A. Taylor has been writing gay romance titles since 2013. Although she started her career writing mostly gay erotica short stories, she has made the move to exclusively writing longer works of gay romance. She mainly focuses on the hot and dangerous paranormal realm where sexy shifters rule supreme. Her stories revolve around dramatic tension, passionate encounters, and happy endings in a lover's embrace.
They just keep getting better. I love the way Henry's character is still true to his nature and not completely changed. You see him growing as a werewolf but it's gradual changes. Can't wait for the next one. I received this book free in exchange for an honest review.
Henry is starting to become more confident with his new life. He is also more confident in general. The more time he spends with Paxton training and gaining control of his wolf side the more he desires the alpha but he also loves what he is learning about Paxton. When he meets the rest of the pack he is feeling good and enjoys running in his wolf form. While playing around and then resting by Paxton and discussing how he is feeling the wolf side of him takes over. After all is said and done Henry is starting to question if he will be able to peacefully live with his wolf side. He goes ahead and accepts the invitation to be part of Paxton's pack. When they receive news that puts them all endanger Henry knows that no matter what he will do what he can to help keep everyone safe.
Paxton does all he can to help Henry adjust. He believes Henry is ready to meet the rest of the pack and go running. All is going so well. When Henry freaks they head back to the cabin and calm him down and enjoy the rest of the night after a rocky start. When they head back and Henry agrees to join the pack Paxton is feeling great. Soon they get news from Paxton's brother Lucas that puts them all endanger.
They now must decide what to do and how to keep them all safe? Will the budding romance between Paxton and Henry have a chance or will it all cpme crashing down before they get a chance?
I liked this one much better than book 1. Henry isn't as timid as he used to be and I love that he wants to do whatever he can to protect Paxton. They are so in love with one another that they'll do what it takes to protect each other. So far I don't like Lucas so I'm worried where book 3 will take them.
Heated but sometimes flat pairing of an alpha and omega
2.5 stars. The series has some decent alpha-omega heat, and it tries to build a plot and some character relationship/chemistry development. The dialog just seemed too mechanical and not very enticing to me. Not bad if you're primarily looking for heat with some basic, werewolfy story.
This book picks up where we left off from book one. I must say this was a bit more entertaining than book one as the main characters Henry and Paxton's relationship blooms. I'm looking for to book three.
