What monster could kill an entire ship’s crew without spilling an ounce of blood? What monster could sink a solid steel freighter? What monster could devour twenty-five men and disappear without a trace? Professor Nicholas Voigt is about to find out.

Conscripted to locate the SS Ourang Medan, a shipwreck of myth and legend, Nicholas is ferried to the Strait of Malacca. There, he meets his shipmates and his eccentric employer—millionaire Bryan Dunston. He thinks the expedition will lead to personal and professional success.

He’s wrong.

Within days, Nicholas discovers his employer’s true intentions. He discovers that Bryan Dunston is a man driven by desire. By lust. By evil. The millionaire believes that a weapon of unfathomable power is hidden in the Ourang Medan’s bowels…and he will stop at nothing to retrieve it.

Rife with murder, mystery, action, and the occult, From Below is a no-holds-barred thriller that is sure to leave you breathless!

Jeffrey Hale is no stranger to suburban horror. He's been accosted by goat-human hybrids, chased by inbred wenches, attacked by giant killer bees, and survived countless hours of prime-time television. When he isn't busy fighting for his life, he can be found reading, writing, playing the bass guitar, or otherwise making a damn fool of himself.

Couldn't put it down.......

This book was a real page-turner, as main character, Nicholas Voigt, a refined, mild-mannered college mythology professor becomes embroiled with a group of sociopaths on a quest to find a mythological deep sea monster. The book is well-written, with believable characters and realistic dialogue. The plot slowly builds, as poor, reluctant Nicholas realizes what he has gotten himself into in exchange for a badly-needed, chunk of money. Again, great dialogue, nothing trite, cheesy or written at middle-school level. As I said, I couldn't put it down. Five Stars.

Catchy story- the ending draws you in and has just enough plot twists that you keep reading. The characters are interesting and you feel invested their lives. I can't wait for the next book!

There were times of interest and action, but there were a lot of pages to be flipped quickly. There is lots of unnecessary crude language. I don't recommend this book.

Fun Lovecraft-ish story about a giant sea creature that may or may not be some sort of other worldly being. Had a decent flow. The characters were interesting. A little bit of a lull in the middle. There were a few questions left unanswered, but I'm hoping that there will be a sequel to cover them ( the very end makes it seem like there will definitely be a part 2!).

Toss in splash of prehistoric monster, and throw in a dash of the occult, Nazis and a crazed millionaire and you have a recipe for a fun read.
