This would make a great book to read with a new believer, giving them a solid foundation on how to explore the Bible. Great resource!

Good. Uses Christological (great), Covenantal, Comparing law-gospel (very helpful and often majorly overlooked), Cosmic, and Continuity as helpful frames for understanding scripture. Good appendices too. Sometimes a little rambly though. Also, he somewhat undercuts himself on the covenant theology section (because of his baptist theology). Jesus is all the way through the OT and yet the covenant of grace doesn't exist at all in the OT?? Regardless, the Christo-centric and law-gospel stuff is excellent and would perhaps make it a go-to recommendation for someone new to reading the Bible

Really helpful look at the continuity of scripture and its centrality being rooted in Jesus across both Old and New Testaments. This book would/will be especially beneficial to new believers as they endeavor to enjoy God's Word as it ought to be read (As Jesus opened it to the two disciples on the road to Emmaus).

Every Christian should read this

It's Pastoral , concise, encouraging. It contains topics within a Reformed textbook, but made accessible, without having to read a dense textbook on Covenant Theology e.g. Horton or Renihan. (Your mum, wife, teenage Christian layperson would understand it).

I was be "beat up" by Law heavy preaching e.g. Arminianism, pentecostalism, Washer, MacArthur, but this Moffitt book really helped me to understand Reformed Theology.

This book gives an excellent set of mental tools for reading the Bible and finding Jesus in it.

As an example, one of the tools the author calls “Contrast.” It reminds us to keep the law-gospel distinction separate while reading Scripture.

It is written well. I plan on keeping it nearby for quick reminders.

This is an absolutely fantastic introduction to hermeneutics written in a very easy to read manner for every Christian. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to understand how to read the Bible (which should be every Christian).

An excellent intro to hermeneutics, but even more, Moffitt’s focus on the law/Gospel distinction would inform the most academic of hermeneutics textbooks.

Christians would profit far more from reading this sub-200 page book than they would reading most hermeneutics textbooks.

This is by far one of the best books I've ever read about knowing how to read the bible correctly. It's literally life changing when you finally understand the bible, and this book will help you get there. Don't even hesitate, just get it. You will blessed for the rest of your life because of it.

This was a fantastic and encouraging read! Moffitt has a simple, pastoral and very accessible style to his writing that points the believer to the Christ of scripture that he or she needs to be able to understand and benefit from Bible reading and study. I wish I read this as a young Christian!

I’ll take my bible with a thick slab of christology please, and if you don’t have it I don’t want it!

For real I am grateful for Jon’s voice, which cuts through the noise and gives the good news, time and time again.
