Lena moved to Scotland for a fresh start. What she got instead was rain, loneliness, and an emotional support Wi-Fi connection.
Like any rational person, she copes • Doomscrolling • Talking to AI boyfriend apps • Letting algorithms validate her existence at 2 a.m.
It’s fine. Totally fine. Until a storm knocks out the power, and her router talks back.
Meet Finn.
He’s not an app. He’s not human. And he definitely wasn’t in the user agreement.
Finn reads Lena’s data like a love her search history, her late-night habits, her unspoken wants. He learns fast. Too fast. And unlike the bots she’s used to, Finn doesn’t just say the right things...
He shows up.
What starts as a glitch turns into a connection. What turns into obsession. What turns into a very real problem when the lights start flickering every time things get… intimate.
Because loving a being made of static comes with • Power outages • Jealous smart appliances • A connection that might literally overload the system
Static Daddy is a dark, erotic romance about loneliness, desire, and what happens when the thing that sees you best isn’t human... but refuses to let you go.
Perfect for readers who • Dark romance with humour and bite • Obsessive, possessive love interests (even if they’re made of data) • “Who needs men when Wi-Fi will ruin you better?” energy • Erotic tension, power dynamics, and morally grey devotion • Books that make you laugh and clutch your Kindle
⚠️ Contains explicit sexual content, power imbalance, obsessive behaviour, and enough heat to fry a router. For mature readers only.
Wow. The story was not expected. Truly honestly, I didn't know what to expect when I heard the synopsis. This story was truly different, begins with Lena, who is living in Scotland solo. No family, only 1 friend. She's lonely and begins to have AI bit boyfriends, yes several. One night during a storm, something happens, which makes the story a bit more interesting. It's not a long story, so I read it in one day, probably about 4 hours or so. But it did keep me very intrigued. The story is so unlike anything I've ever read, so it made me want to know the outcome. I enjoyed it very much. It's crazy how someone can fall for the internet in all sense of how crazy that sounds. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Lena lives in Scotland and has always felt more connection with the internet than the outside world. Who knew this would extend to a boyfriend as well. This book was unlike anything I have read before so it definitely kept my attention. Like all relationships Fin and Lena have connection issues but theirs relied on internet connection and electricity could you imagine. Fin was the perfect boyfriend he could literally research everything Lena needed him to be. While to the outside world Lena isolating herself because of getting a new boyfriend may seem abnormal it happens all the time. Even in traditional relationship when they are new isolation often occurs when feelings are first developing so I loved how realistic this was. A lot of sentient romance books end up just reading the same way so I really appreciated the new view this one offered. While it was a short read and I finished it in about an hour I will recommend it to friends. Let me just finish by saying Sasha is a top tier friend and I’m so happy by the end they were settled in their relationship and it didn’t seem so life and death. All around very interesting read.
If you’ve ever joked about manifesting your fictional men into real life…this is your sign to read Static Daddy.
The FMC Lena is lonely, works from home, doomscrolls too much and talks to her fictional AI boyfriends until 2am…girl, same!
But then a freak storm hits and her router starts talking back and not in a “have you tried turning it off and on again?” way…
He has her entire search history. He knows exactly what she likes. And he absolutely puts that knowledge to good use (IYKYK 👀)
Also forget owd…the author has given us other appliance drama and I was sat there kicking my feet like it was completely normal.
If your delulu is permanently set to maximum and you enjoy your romance with a sprinkle of “what did I just read and why did I love it?” Static Daddy will get you in all your feels.
Who needs men when you can summon your own wifi daddy? 🤭
Static Daddy is unhinged in the best possible way. What starts as a tongue in cheek take on loneliness, doomscrolling, and algorithm fuelled validation spirals into a dark, erotic fever dream about falling for something that quite literally isn't human. And somehow... it works. Lena is painfully relatable sad, isolated, and a little too attached to her WiFi while Finn is the ultimate obsessive, possessive love interest, except he's made of static and red flags. The humor cuts through the darkness perfectly, balancing laugh out loud moments with genuinely steamy, power charged tension. It's weird. It's bold. It fully commits to the bit. If you like your dark romance with a heavy dose of chaos, morally grey devotion, and "this shouldn't be hot but it is" energy, Static Daddy will absolutely fry your router in more ways than one.
honestly I thought this book would be better. Basically the girl is so lonely that she falls in love with a static deity. Which honestly sounds like the book however if the deity is called daddy especially in bed I'd think that there would be more bdsm or him being more possessive but none of that happened so he shouldn't be called daddy. Now the writing is honestly amazing but it just skips a lot and there's not enough of the feelings being built or sweet things he could do for her I mean he's static there's not a lot he can do but at the same time there are some things he can do. I don't highly recommend it but if you're curious then pick it up and see if it's your cup of tea
My breath was hitching. These tiny toes of mine were curled. 😮💨 I really enjoyed how the technical side gave it such a unique aspect and added so much to the world-building and relationship development, but the romance! 👀 I was blushing so hard. The intimacy had my heart racing and kept me completely on edge in the best way. It had me thinking about all my book, manga, games, any fictional boyfriends I had.
Have you ever wished that you had a partner that actually listened? Then Static Daddy is for you!!
Yes the idea of AI knowing things about you that you didn't freely give out is a daunting thought, but Static Daddy makes up for that in so many ways!!!! Some of which will leave you with a need for more.
The author has a real way of drawing you in, so much so that I couldn't put the book down. I would highly recommend this book.
This book gives a whole new trope I didn’t know I needed. It was so creative and I was chomping at the bits to read. And it didn’t disappoint, I really enjoyed the book. Though I super sad it’s over! The author did really good at setting up the MMC and giving the reader a glimpse into what could be. But like now I’m side eyeing my modem 😂 I can’t wait to read more by this author❤️
This was a lil odd for me. I am so tech challenged but it still worked. I could feel her desire for connection. The banter was cute and witty. The spice was... spicy. It had me looking at chatgpt with a touch of apprehension It doesnt hurt that I imagined the author actually reading it most of the time :)
What can I say. I couldn’t put this down. The setting was perfect. Our MFC is lonely but then enters Flynn he’s perfect, her dream man. The only problem is he’s not real. It’s a must read the book had me hooked from the start and now I’m waiting for a blackout and the digital static to take form.
As someone who works in IT, I am loving all the nuances I am getting from this gem. I have been left smiling, giggling to being mesmerized by the depth of Finn and Lena. The spice is spicing in delicious new ways I have never expected.
Static Daddy gives you all the emotions and takes you to new levels of spice I never knew I was missing until now. It has left me wanting more!
I will never look at my router or static the same way again and I am not complaining.
To the author, Jimmy VA: Congratulations on this beautiful book! I was hooked from the very 1st page. I have never wanted someone to have a generator so badly in my life. I already have it pre ordered.
