Reece & Faith #1

Private Dancer

Rate this book
Reece Corbett and Faith Ashford life experiences couldn't be any more different than night and day. Reece Corbett grew up on the mean streets of New York City; abused, used, and in trouble with the law. A mysterious man named Frank stepped in, pulled Reece from despair and saved her life. The obstinant, angry street thug eventually earned respect and makes a name for herself, not to mention a "reputation" despite the demons that still haunt her. When Frank dies suddenly, he leaves her his business, a Gentleman's Club called "The Lounge," which may be the only thing she takes pride in. That, and protecting her "girls," especially one freaky little dancer with a heart of gold named Cori the unspoken friend, ally and confidante of one Reece Corbett. Faith Ashford grew up wealthy with all the creature comforts that wealth provides. Country Clubs, a house in the Hampton's, and debutante balls with white gloves, taffeta and gardenias. There was one difference though, Faith wasn't like the other spoiled rich girls, she had no desire to follow those rather shallow footsteps, instead, she wished to follow her own dreams wherever they may lead her and those dreams lead the aspiring actress into a tenement in New York's Alphabet City, working the night shift in a rather seedy Lower East Side bar whose denizens, a sea of oddities, freaks, and frat boys that call themselves customers. Then one night an exotic dancer with electric blue hair wonders into Faith's bar. Cori of the myriad piercings and tattoos has no idea, but she would become the blonde's ultimate salvation in her moment of desperation, just as Frank was for Reece. Faith needed a break, she needed a change, and bartending at The Lounge would at least afford her something new, more new than she could possibly imagine in fact, a tall drink of water by the name of Reece Corbett who in turn had been looking for "this woman" all her life.

I was born, and raised, and still living in Brooklyn, New York. I am the epitome of a Noo Yawkah. From my accent, to my sense of style, to my ability to walk and drink hot coffee at the same time.
I love animals. All animals. I have a few dogs and a cat. The cat is mean. (And shady) One dog is iffy. I work in animal care for the last 15 years, of course, and love my job, even when it is a poop fest.
I started writing with fan fiction, way back in 1999, after becoming tired of reading the exact same stories with new character names. A friend of mine suggested that if I am tired of it, I need to write my own. So, I did.
I wrote without an inkling of actually publishing. There wasn't even a *seed* of an inkling. It was purely for fun, and as I picked up more fans, for their enjoyment.
I am a breast cancer survivor, and I am always there to help and assist my friends with their diagnosis, as this disgusting epidemic continues.

I liked the story. I haven't read lots of stories with characters like Reece so it was a very nice change to me. I've liked this character. the only thing that bothered me with this book is the last 30% of the book did not have anything to add to the plotline. It seemed as if it was just here to add more sex, more positions etc... And while very hot and nice to read, it did not do anything for the story. To me the storyline was finished/resolved. Otherwise it was a good read.

Two characters with very different backgrounds that find themselves attracted to each other and finally falling in love.

The chemistry between them is palpable and their interactions are interesting and hot.

There are some unnerving moments that can be attributed to one of leads’ attitudes due to her past, but there are also funny dialogues and a lot, and I mean a lot of sex scenes.

The owner of a "gentleman's club" that she inherited from a mentor who took her under his wing, Reece is cocky and intimidating and is a magnet for the women she beds. But when Faith enters the club to begin work as a bartender, the two are drawn to one another. Faith is from a wealthy family that she is escaped and is struggling in NYC trying to become an actress. The book focuses on the push and pull of these two aided by Cori, a dancer at the club who befriends Faith.

The book has a number of plot points that force the reader to suspend rational thought (would Reece who has a criminal record even be able to get an alcohol license? can Faith really be hired so easily as a bartender?), with the goal of just focusing on the love story and the arc of change for Reece.

Poorly Edited - HOT HOT HOT - Trashy - Delicious

This book is so poorly edited the publisher and the author should be embarrassed. But IT IS HOT! Not for the PC lesbian reader perhaps, but if you enjoy a little butch/femme trashy fantasy allow this to be your secret pleasure.

Book 1 in a series of 4 about a underground fighter turned gentleman’s club owner, (tall, gorgeous and demanding, of course) who falls in love for the first time. A beautiful, fledgling actress takes a job bar tending at the club and the sparks do fly.

Excellent read

I enjoyed this read immensely and look forward to reading the other stories in the series, if I can find the wall.

I enjoyed this book.

I enjoyed this story very much. It is a story of struggle and hardship in life. The sex scenes are very long and very graphic.
