Watch and Weight

Rate this book
Grace has spent her life praying for change—praying to lose the weight, feel worthy, and for God to finally answer her prayer.
Hope has spent her life longing to be seen, trapped in a body that won’t change and carrying the ache of a father who left.
A revolutionary medical procedure called FatShare offers both women a chance at what they’ve always wanted. Grace can finally shed the weight she believes stands between her and acceptance, while Hope can gain the body she believes will allow her to be loved.
But change is never as simple as one surgery. As Grace opens her home to a struggling pregnant teen, she’s forced to confront judgment, family tension, and her own belief that her value is measured by appearance. Meanwhile, Hope is drawn into family secrets, a new romance, and questions about faith she never expected to ask.
Through it all, they must confront the truth neither can escape: Worth isn’t found on a scale or in the approval of others, but in the love of a God who sees them fully, exactly as they are.
Watch and Weight is a moving story of faith, forgiveness, and freedom—the first book in The Greatest of These series—perfect for readers who love heartwarming Christian fiction.

At its heart, this novel explores the fragile space between appearance and identity, gently reminding us that our worth is not defined by a number on a scale, but by the One who created us.

In this heartfelt debut—the first in a series—the author tells the story of two women wrestling with opposite struggles—one burdened by excess weight, the other by not enough. What woman doesn’t understand that ache in some form? The longing to feel comfortable in one’s own skin, to be seen rightly, to believe that worth is not measured by outward standards—it’s a deeply familiar tension, and one many readers will recognize immediately.

The characters are relatable and accessible, and I found myself moving quickly through the pages because I genuinely cared about where their journeys would lead. The narrative flows easily, making this an engaging and inviting read.

At its core, the novel gently explores themes of identity, comparison, shame, and grace. It reminds readers that our truest worth is found not in appearance but in being known and loved by God. The faith elements are woven thoughtfully into the story, offering hope and encouragement without feeling forced.

There were moments when I wished for even more depth in the surrounding details and a slower unfolding of certain conflicts, simply because I wanted to linger longer in these women’s struggles and transformation. Some resolutions felt swift, but as the opening installment of a series, it leaves room for further growth and deeper exploration in future books.

Overall, this is a sincere and promising beginning. I look forward to continuing the journey and seeing how these characters—and the author—develop in the books to come.

I was fortunate enough to be an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) reader for this book. This is a Christian fiction book that had me relating to the characters from the beginning. As a person who has struggled with their weight and eating disorders for my entire life, I could relate to these characters in so many ways. Grace, Hope, Faith, Charity are just some of the characters in this book. Their character names can also be found in many aspects, themes and situations of the book. I found myself engrossed in these characters and their lives. The author’s writing style is clear and easy to follow. The Bible verses mentioned in the book come right at the right time and are so relevant to the situation and also makes you stop and think about how that verse relates to your life and can be applied to your current situation. There is also a watch that is significant in the book. But, you will just have to “watch and weight” to read about it. I loved this book and am ready for the sequel!

This book drew me in from the very first page. I have never related to characters as deeply as I did in this Christian fiction story, which explores meaningful themes and real-life situations. The story follows two main characters, Hope and Grace, who struggle with weight and body image—something so many of us can relate to. I quickly fell in love with them and the other characters and became fully invested in their journey.
Through clear, engaging writing, thoughtful Bible verses, and realistic experiences, the author has created a heartwarming story that encourages me to reflect on my own life and faith. The story is so well developed and beautifully written that it even moved me to tears at times.
I cannot recommend this book enough for readers at any stage of life. I am truly grateful for the words God has spoken through the author and for the impact this book has had on me.

This is a great debut in Christian fiction! The story revolves around Grace and Hope, who are both unhappy about their weight/appearance—but on different ends of that spectrum. They participate in a procedure called “FatShare”, and quickly realize that maybe everything’s not as simple as a “quick fix” in appearance. It’s great to follow along both women as they come to understand that their worth was never in their looks, but in the love God has for them. There’s plenty of Bible verses cleverly written throughout this novel that serve as a reminder of God’s love and mercy. If you like your stories to have deeper meaning through an unapologetic lens of faith, look no further!

Thank you to Tracy B. Stewart for the eARC in exchange for my honest review!

Relatable and uplifting! Isn’t it nice to know that everyone has their own set of insecurities they are battling? Enjoyed getting to know the characters Hope and Grace. This was a quick read and a great reminder that we are so much more than a number on the scale! If you enjoy Christian fiction you will love this book!

The characters drew me in from the first pages! This book gently reminds us that peace and contentment are not usually found in the first place we search. With every page,I became more invested in the stories as they became interconnected.

If you’re looking for a heart-warming and uplifting book, I recommend Watch & Weight. I found the characters relatable and the message timely in our culture that puts so much emphasis on appearance & weight.
As someone bullied as a young teen because of my weight, I felt a connection with one character especially. Her struggle to accept herself or believe anyone could really love her was expressed beautifully. I do love a happy ending and was not disappointed.

This is a heartwarming and uplifting story of faith, friendship, and family.

The parallel storylines between the two main characters, Hope and Grace, were engaging. I found myself eager for each new chapter and turn of events! It was a real page turner!

The character development was very well planned. It was easy to connect to both characters through their hopes and dreams in the various roles women fill throughout their lives: daughters, sisters, friends, girlfriends, students, wives, employees, and moms to name a few!

I was disappointed to reach the end of the book until I realized this is the first book in a series! I will watch and “wait” for the next release from this author as I look forward to hearing more about how Hope and Grace’s stories unfold in future books!

This is a beautiful book about a topic many, many women deal with on a daily basis but with a much more refreshing and honest perspective .

We have the perspective of both sides of weight issues, which I do not believe many people think of the "too skinny" side and the struggle they must have with self image as well. Grace's faith throughout the story was beautiful and having someone with such faith still struggle with self image makes the character all the more real.

I am looking forward to the next book in the series. For a debut novel, I believe the author did a wonderful job.

No matter what age you are or what stage of life you are in this book is sure to draw you in. It’s one of those books that is hard to put down. I found it so easy to identify with and sympathize with the characters. I could literally see the conversations and scenes in my mind as I was reading.
The author has gone above and beyond not just in her writing but all of the small details from the cover to inside of the book. It flows so effortlessly and leaves you wanting more! I cannot wait to see what happens with these characters and their continuing stories.

Watch and Weight is an example of Christian Fiction at its finest. I love books that are relatable, easy to read and inspiring, this book was all three of those things. A few twists and turns keep you turning the pages. I also love how the author used scripture throughout the book. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to more from this author.

Watch and Weight by Traci Stewart is a heartfelt and encouraging story about two women, Grace and Hope, who are both navigating their own issues with weight and self-image. Through their journeys, the book shows the emotional struggles when trying to find yourself in a world built on outer image. The characters are real and relatable, and their experiences highlight the importance of faith, family, and friendship. It’s an uplifting read that reminds readers they are not alone. I got lost in the pages and couldn’t put it down until I was done!
