Ann Voskamp is a farmer's wife, the home-educating mama to a half-dozen exuberant kids, and author of One Thousand Gifts: A Dare to Live Fully Right Where You Are, a New York Times sixty-week bestseller.. Named by Christianity Today as one of fifty women most shaping culture and the church today, she's a global advocate for needy children with Compassion International, a loser of library books, a stirrer of soup, a loud laugher, a kid snuggler, a Jesus lover and honestly, a bit of a mess. It’s okay really. Grace is the most amazing of all. Her online journal, one of the top 10 most widely read Christian blogs online, is a relief of quiet vulnerability and an oasis of sacred, seeing God in the everyday ugly beautiful.
Meh. Voskamp's writing style is fascinating for the length of a poem. But a whole book? Many poetic moments, but a lot of annoying swirling participles to muddle through to get to the poetic moments.
Wow! What an amazing book. Ann is a detailed, descriptive and tender hearted writer. This book blessed my life and strengthened my convictions and my faith. It is not only a must read, but a book to return to time and again., Thank you Ann, you are one of the gifts I have received in this lifetime.
A good devotional book that changes your mind perspective, transforms you and transfigured you in to a life of thankfulness and contentedness. (Too much unnecessary narration of farm life. It needs patience to go through a devotion)
This book really resonated with me. I bought a notebook and have started my gratitude journal. “Being joyful doesn’t produce gratitude. Gratitude produces joy.”
Very difficult to read. There were certain devotionals that will change your perspective on things but there is a lot of unnecessary narration which makes you have to reread.
I love all of Ann’s books. This one is not my favorite of the ones I have read (The Broken Way and The Way of Abundance are my absolute favorites thus far), but it was still a delightful, soul-stirring and poetic read.
The path to a fuller life in Jesus is eucharisteo--thanksgiving and gratitude. This is an engaging book not only for the poetical descriptions of the writer but for the lessons in living out eucharisteo. This is a path I desire to walk in more in the coming days and years!
