This book was so much fun! I haven’t read a romcom with tennis or fashion yet, so this was really unique to me. I loved the banter and relationship development between Lily and Jake, and I don’t even typically choose childhood friends to lovers books - but this one was so well done! I definitely found myself giggling 🤭

But the character that tops is all is Lily’s cousin, Lemon. She’s hilarious and I love her entire vibe. I hope she gets her own book! 🫶🏻

Thank you to Renee for the gifted copy!

Is six years too long for sparks to fly between Lily and Jake again?

They have been best friends since first grade, but they lose touch in high school after Jake ghosts her and his family moves away.

This was a sweet second chance romance set in Paris, and I loved seeing Lily rediscover her spark from fashion.

This was a romantic, funny, heartwarming story about the right person/ wrong time and finding yourself along the way.

Tropes:
Second chance
Friends to lovers

Satisfying slow burn!

Lily and Jake’s story was such a sweet, emotional friends-to-lovers romance with one of the longest slow burns I’ve ever read and it was completely worth it! ☺️
These two grew up together as young kids. After Lily’s dad introduced Jake to tennis as a kid and they became inseparable. All it took was one small miscommunication to lead to huge life altering decisions for both of them. They spent six years apart without speaking. 🤐 😬
Jake chased his dream of becoming a professional tennis player while Lily’s life took a different path than she imagined. She dreamed of becoming a fashion designer in Paris. Her goal was pharmaceutical degree first then fashion degree. However she suddenly lost her parents and inherited the family pharmacy. She had to put those dreams aside. 😞
When fate brings her to Paris to help her cousin photograph for a famous designer - she unexpectedly runs into Jake again. The longing from him was pouring off the page. Watching them reconnect after all those years was equal parts emotional and frustrating because every single time they tried to finally talk about what happened… they got interrupted. I was literally yelling at my book to JUST TALK TO EACH OTHER ALREADY.
This was such a sweet friends-to-lovers romance filled with longing and unresolved communication on how they felt made their story feel even more rewarding. I absolutely adored Jake and Lily together, loved the moment #”Lilydrop” happened 😆 ❤️ and finished this book with the biggest smile hoping for their very happy ever after.

Thank you, Renee, for sending me this book. I really enjoyed it!

I can’t believe this is a debut novel! It was very well done. The writing flowed beautifully, and I can’t wait to see what the author writes next.

This sweet, small town, friends to lovers romance is told through a dual timeline, following two childhood best friends who lose touch after high school before reconnecting six years later in Paris. I enjoyed seeing how their shared history shaped their reunion and how the past and present came together throughout the story.

If you enjoy friends to lovers romances, with a touch of small-town charm mixed with the magic of Paris, this is one to add to your TBR.

Thank you again to Renee for the opportunity to read and review this book.

"A Love - Love Match" ~ Renee Valentine
⭐⭐⭐⭐✨

"A Love-Love Match" by Renee Valentine served up the perfect blend of romance, humor, and heart. Set against the charming backdrop of Paris, this tennis-themed love story had all the ingredients for an entertaining escape.

The chemistry between the Lily and Jake was effortless, filled with witty banter, slow building tension, and plenty of swoon worthy moments. I loved watching their relationship evolve as they challenged each other both on and off the court as teens. Then add the Paris setting as adults, which added an extra layer of charm, making the story feel light, dreamy, and wonderfully immersive.

The lovable characters and feel good romance was perfect for me, as a reader of Thrillers and Horror normally.. This is the kind of book that left me smiling and kept me hooked through the entire book.

If you're looking for a sweet, flirty romcom with great chemistry, charming characters, and a touch of tennis, "A Love - Love Match" is definitely worth picking up. 🎾💕 #booktok #mustread #tiktokcontest #bookreview #romance

A perfect feel-good escape!

I absolutely loved A Love-Love Match! This is such a cute, no-spice romance that still delivers all the heart and butterflies you want. I was hooked from the start by the dual timeline — the flashbacks to Lily and Jake’s childhood and high school years made their reconnection feel so earned and raised the emotional stakes perfectly. It’s a beautiful second-chance story done right.

The slow burn was chef’s kiss — so much longing and tension without ever feeling dragged out. I also adored the Paris setting. It made the whole book feel dreamy and romantic without being over-the-top.

And can we talk about Lemon (Lily’s cousin)? She stole every scene she was in with her humor — I’m seriously hoping she gets her own book!

This was just a warm, joyful read with a very satisfying HEA. If you’re looking for a light, feel-good romance with great characters and zero spice, this one is perfect. I’ll definitely be recommending it and can’t wait to read more from Renee Valentine!

Perfect time to read this with Wimbledon on. I may or may not have pictured Jake as Matteo Berrettini 😂 I really enjoyed this book. It has some of my favourite tropes of second chance romance / alternating timelines/ friends to lovers (like Every Summer After and Love and Other Words). I thought it was very sweet and I read it in a day 🩷

This second-chance romance completely stole my heart. From the very first chapter, I was invested in these characters and the journey they had to take to find their way back to each other. Their history felt real, their pain was palpable, and watching them work through old wounds had me experiencing every emotion right alongside them.

This story made me smile through the sweet moments, shed a few tears during the heartbreaking ones, and ultimately left me with the biggest smile on my face. The chemistry between the characters never faded, and their growth throughout the book made their reunion feel so deserved and satisfying.

The author beautifully captured the idea that sometimes love isn't about finding someone new—it's about finding your way back to the person who has always held a piece of your heart. Emotional, hopeful, and incredibly heartwarming, this is a romance that will stay with me long after turning the final page. If you love second-chance romances that make you feel everything, this one is absolutely worth reading.

This book was so freaking cute and a great palate cleanser.
I really enjoyed the story line and loved Lily and Jake. It was a quick read and I was able to finish it in one sitting.
The only thing that I wish was a little different is that there was dual POV. I would have loved to hear certain scenes and situations from Jakes point of view.
This is my first book from this author, and it won't be my last!

This is a fun slow burn romance that left me wanting to know more about the characters! A quick, entertaining sports/fashion closed-door romance crossover! I loved the mention of the female main character as a pharmacist, which you don’t see often! Jake was swoon-worthy and Lil’s best friend, Lemon, was just what you dream of in a best friend! An overall fun read for anyone interest in friends to lovers, slow burn, fashion, Paris, and sports romance.

A Feel-Good Rom-Com That Had Me Smiling The Whole Way Through

I had such a great time reading this. It’s the perfect throwback to those 90s rom‑coms where you’re instantly invested in the characters and cheering for their happily‑ever‑after. The story is light and fun without ever feeling shallow, and the main character is so relatable—funny, thoughtful, and full of heart. I kept catching myself flipping ahead because I just had to know what was coming next. Truly such an enjoyable read!

As someone who doesn't usually reach for romance books, A Love-Love Match surprised me in the best way. While romance isn't my go-to genre, this story was genuinely cute, easy to get into, and had me smiling more than I expected.
The chemistry between the main characters felt sweet, and I enjoyed watching their relationship develop. The Paris setting and tennis backdrop added a fun, refreshing touch that made the story even more enjoyable. It wasn't overly dramatic, which I appreciated, and it was the perfect feel-good read.
The reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is simply because romance isn't my favorite genre, so I wasn't as emotionally invested as I might be with fantasy or thriller books. Even so, I had a great time reading it and can definitely see why romance fans would love it.
If you're looking for a lighthearted, charming romance with lovable characters and plenty of cute moments, I'd absolutely recommend giving this one a try!

I absolutely loved this book! I found myself completely invested in the love story! What really stood out was how the story balanced humor and emotion. The characters were genuinely funny, with great banter and moments that made me laugh out loud, but there were also plenty of scenes that pulled at my heartstrings in the best way. It had that perfect mix of lighthearted charm and deeper feeling that makes a romantic comedy truly memorable. Overall, it was a great read—engaging, emotional, and full of personality. Definitely one I’d recommend if you’re in the mood for something uplifting with a touch of adventure and a lot of heart!

This book was so cute 😭✋!!! The relationship between Lily and Lemon was so supportive and nontoxic, it really was such a good example of pure friendship and sisterhood (even though they’re cousins!) I really enjoyed Lily’s development as a character, starting to learn to trust herself and be more confident. The way the author wrote her thoughts were so humanly nuanced that it really felt relatable.. for a debut I’m impressed!! And the romance?! Don’t even get me started, Jake is such a sweetie!! I want more!! Perhaps a sequel with Lemon finding love? 👀

Loved this sweet romance. Relatable characters, adorable story, all together refreshing. I gasped, giggled, & dropped a tear. Would be a great co-read or book buddy for mom & high school daughter. Everyone who plays tennis should read this book. Ugh, I’m so happy I chose this as my “long drive” book today. Finished it in 4 hours.

Such a cute, easy read. It’s the perfect book to bring on the beach. This tennis sports romance was a nice change from the usual hockey sports romance books.
If you like romance books without spice then this is a cute one.
