The Reckoning is . . . Wowzers! What an ending to this epic series. Agnes is Samael’s light in the darkness, his greatest hope. There’s action, romance, and spice. The story is well laid out, characters are well fleshed and likable. So, so good. *** Recommended ***

"They’d weaponized our bond, found a way to use the connection between us as a channel for their spite. Every day they reached through it and took pieces of Samael—memories, emotions, pieces of his sense of self. They were erasing him by inches, and there was nothing he could do to stop them." -quote from (The Reckoning by Mercy Blackwood)
Just a heads up there may be a few small spoilers in this review.
This book and the rest of this series absolutely wrecked me. I feel almost wrung out from all of the emotions this story has put me through. I was so ready for Agnes and Samuel to have their revenge and finally reach their HEA. Unravelling some of the mystery around Miriam and the cause of Samuels fall answered a few burning questions, but did nothing for my desire to see someone finally answer for all the suffering our main protagonists and countless others have been through in this series. Agnes finally confronting and putting James in his place helped a bit with that especially after all of his his betrayals, but what I really wanted to see was him and The Archivists get wrecked sideways. With a brillo pad and vinegar. I'll settle for the systematic dismantling of their entire organization though. Samuel having that cup of coffee in the real above world felt almost surreal after everything but it also seemed like exactly the right way to end the book.
The Reckoning is the third and final book of the Hollows a wonderfully engaging story of dark fantasy. The story continues from the previous book with Agnes having now been freed from the abyss. But all will not be right in the world until she has freed Samael from his prison, and there are only six weeks to do it in before he becomes just a memory. Angels and monsters, sometimes it is hard to separate the two. I enjoyed the stories flow which was immersed in a well written narrative and supported by imaginative world building that along with well crafted characters brought revenge, intrigue, trauma, family dynamics, passion and emotion to the forefront, and the Archivists are about to have a different kind of hell raining down on them when Agnes goes after her soul-bond. A well earned HEA awaits!.

This book was in incredibly conclusion to the trilogy of Samael and Agnes. Their connection and their love are spelled out in amazing language. Agnes starts her 6 week quest to save Samael with Thokk the Orc, Ithuriel the Fallen Angel, and Uri the Fae. When they rise to the surface they are helped by the unflappable Maureen Fairfax, the Wickfield housekeeper. She cooks and knits sweater (even for Thokk). They are later joined by Solomon the homeless priest who becomes a part of their found family. They need to take down 5 families including James and then pass through the Arhivists to free Samael who is slowly being destroyed. Agnes fights relentlessly and Samael waits and remembers. This book made me laugh at times, and made me cry. Agnes and Samael reconnecting is everything you would want it to be both physically and emotionally. This was an incredible HEA for the trilogy.
Book 3 of The Hollows series. Concludes the series. Must read books in series order for maximum enjoyment.
'To break their hold, Agnes will channel the Holy Ghost itself. To free Samael, she'll have to descend one final time and argue for his freedom before powers older than scripture. And deep in the Abyss, Samael is writing her name everywhere. Because he will not forget her.'
The characters were very complex. Plot was intriguing. World building was solidly drawn. All in all a very good read. Recommend.

Agnes is Samaels only hope to survive. She’s the light in his darkness. It’s up to her to save him. This was an absolutely amazing ending to this trilogy. There was action and chaos. Suspense and so much more. From the very beginning of this trilogy I was obsessed. But each book only pulls you in deeper. Keeps you on the edge of your seat. And this one definitely did that and much more. I couldn’t out this one down. I had to know what was going to happen. I’d Samael was going to make it. It was so intense and so satisfying at the end.
The epic conclusion to the trilogy will have you hooked! Agness must break the Archivsts hold before she faces losing Samael forever, held in a prison of darkness shes his only light, but can Agness be the one to break him truly free? Well written the story and characters draw you in with suspense, actions desires twists and more
Agnes get to put her plans into action to save Samael with the support of her found family. Terrifying persistence and a well made cottage pie does wonders in this final installment. An incredible read!!!.
