The Modern Mythos #2
The Modern Mythos Continuum
"Sorrow’s reach forsakes the torrid solace of embrace..."
Python is restless.
A decade of domesticity, of shacking-up with his warlock partner Calysto and learning to bake, have turned the vampire soft. So, when Calysto plans an exciting trip to the hedonistic night city of Arcade, Python is eager for the change in scenery and a taste of the thrill of his former life.
But, little do they know, they aren't the only supernatural beings who thrive in the neon-lit dark.
When Python vanishes on a routine blood-hunt, only to reappear with no memory of who Calysto is, it thrusts the shimmering facade of Arcade into a sinister shadow.
As the threat of a permanently regressed Python looms, Calysto must abandon their getaway to find the source of his partner's missing memories, even if he has to drag an uncooperative Python by the scruff of the neck to do it.
Using every power at his disposal, Calysto employs the assistance of his increasingly-distant vampire hunter partner Aeris, and his innate, unpracticed ability to time travel, only to discover that the threat is intertwined with his life in ways he never anticipated.

I laughed, I cried; I wanted to smack the characters as much as I wanted to hug them. THE MODERN MYTHOS CONTINUUM is a tense and unpredictable follow-up to THE MODERN MYTHOS ANOMALY, with all the bickering and messiness you’d expect from these three immortals. It’s a real and raw exploration of trust and commitment; you can’t help but root for Python, Calysto, and Aeris even as they make the worst choices imaginable. This is a truly unforgettable addition to The Modern Mythos series, and not to be missed if you need some time travel shenanigans in your life.
Many thanks to Juniper for the opportunity to read this early!

There were many times where I thought The Modern Mythos Continuum wouldn't ever be completed. This story has lived alongside me through some of the most difficult trials of my life, and it's in part thanks to the resilience of these characters and their dogged determination to pick their guts up off the pavement and keep on truckin' that helped me do the same. Whether or not this book ever has the reach of the first, I'm happy to say it exists, and I'm happy to say it's one of my favorite books I've written thus far.
Thank you to everyone who has been a supporter and a lover of this unique universe of chaos. You've helped make this book happen, more than you know.
And don't worry... These immortals' story isn't quite over yet!

In February of 2023 I stumbled upon a post for ARC application, and little did I know it would be one of my favorite book of this year, and one of my favorite book ever too. This book is The modern mythos anomaly. I loved it sooo much so that I downloaded canva and decided to use this Instagram for good. 3 years later it's still one of my favorite book and I'm so happy to write this: book 2 is EVEN BETTER THAN THE FIRST ONE. AND IM SO EXCITED ABOUT IT.
The modern mythos continuum is quite literally the perfect sequel. And omg, how I've missed my chaotic warlock and his even more chaotic vampires partner. Calysto is my absolute baby and if you dont love him, feel free to argue with the closest wall. It's soooo good seeing other side of his personality this time around, but he didn't change that much from the first one. He's just my messy warlock who cannot express his feelings and cannot clean to save his life (that's MY KIND OF REPRESENTATION). HE WENT THROUGH HELL AND HE DESERVE THE WORLD.
Han, Python my beloved mess of a vampire who's full of insecurities and who learned to bake for Cal. He was a joy to follow and I reaaaally loved seeing him going through EVERYTHING.
IN THE MEANTIME: Where do I sign up to kick his abuser's ass into oblivion??
Aeris. I have so little to say about her, but mostly because she never did anything wrong. Ever. Except not being my girlfriend but ill survive. She was the most level headed part of this chaotic trouple and I ADORE her dynamic with the boys. And her new friend was a good bonus 👁👁.
Also one of my favorite part of their story is the fate and their propensity to save each other again and again but they're not even aware of it. Like. Yes please.
Please please pick this serie, it's so good. It got vampires, warlock, time travel, energy drinks and poor eating habits.
Going back to them felt like going home 💛
Thanks Juniper for the arc 💛

The Modern Mythos Continuum is an amazing sequel focusing on the interpersonal relationships.
While The Modern Mythos Anomaly was centered on the innate trauma that formed the main characters, their pasts and connection to each other, The Modern Mythos Continuum spotlights the continued repressed struggle with emotions and commitment. The central point is on how far you'd go to show your love - and does that mean actually being open and talking about your feelings? A hindrance especially Python struggles with.
Absolutely loved how especially Calysto opened up - his character growth from book one to the second is amazing! It was also wonderful to see more of Aeris and her caring side. And there's of course Python, the contrast to his old and new self incredibly poignant. We also meet a new character, who fits perfectly into the little misshapen mix of vampire - and half-vampires.
Just like in the first book, we get glimpses of a shared past, moments in which Python and Calysto influenced each others' lives without knowing each other, intertwining their fates even more. Absolutely adore these moments, it adds a whole other layer of depth to their relationship.
And the setting? A future-fictional setting of Las Vegas? Absolute perfection, no notes.
I'd absolutely love to know more about a certain "missing person" - and Calysto's progress in learning certain skills - the end is quite satisfying.
