Great story line

This is the first series of science fiction I've read in some time, usually an author mixes fiction with fantasy. This series, "Rebel Star," held to the science fiction of spacecraft, dog fights, and characters with human values. Thank you Mr. Robertson. Enjoyed the series very much.

All in all not a bad book. It's not exactly breaking new ground, but it doesn't do a bad job with the ground it's covering. There were some point early on where I kept finding myself going "Have I read this before?" because the scenes felt familiar, but I don't mean that in a negative way really. If you enjoy sci-fi in the the "small crew saving the universe, having desperate fights and pulling through with the skin of their teeth... and also there's some weird alien shit on the edges" you'll probably enjoy the books.

The one thing I will say is that the author has some slang/jargon he uses that he doesn't explain. From things I've read it seems it's from another series, and it's not so extensive you can't get the jist of what is happening in the scenes, but there were points where I had to just go "Okay, that's a reference to a place... no idea what it means though." It would have been nice to have that explained somewhere without needing to read unrelated books.

Wow. Just, wow!

After the free first book, it was a no brainer to buy this one. Just finished it, I'm on a high, I'm immediately going for number 3 as soon as I've posted this review. I'm hooked, this is space opera at its finest!

Not your usual series

Unlike many series that get redundant or boring, this author makes every book a new story. I"he never read a series in which I wasn't bored before the last book...until now.

Starting to be the same (i.e. a bit boring)

Very good mix of action and world building; it also moves the series along on an unexpected path. Better yet it has no pandemics and no earthquakes. Great series. Highly recommended.

The time for the "Swimmers" return is here.

I read the Breakers series and really enjoyed it. And now, in the distant future, the human race is now living far out in the solar system. The Swimmers (the aliens that brought the plague that nearly wiped out all life on earth hundreds of years before in the Breakers series) has remained hidden, but has now given us advanced technology, bringing deep space within our grasp. But it's a gift from the same creatures that tried to destroy us all those centuries ago. How can we trust them? Where are they anyway? And why does anyone that tries to leave the solar system disappear without a trace? Some people revere the aliens of old, believing that the plague was punishment for our (then) destructive civilization. Some even worship them. But now we're knocking on the door of the void. The time of our deep space restriction is coming to an end. Is the human race ready for The Test?

Oh man, this is getting interesting!

Excellent read

This book was another very good and well written step in the series. You don't get lost between books ,within a few pages you remember all that went on in book one and you're back in the action. I loved this one as much as the first and can't wait until the third. Very good series if you are into the same things as me and that is space, with battles and some aliens and to top it off if they didn't have enough going wrong, they find out that the one set of aliens is true to help but another not known about wants to destroy the human race. Great job Mr. Robertson.

Another great entry in a new series I am enjoying. This one started slightly slow, but got up to speed quickly enough. I like this writers style, having read his Breakers series and other fiction. Good characters, interesting ideas, everything you could ask for. Thank you Ed Robertson. Bring on the next!

Great continuation!

Love Rada and her strengths and vulnerabilities. She's got swagger! Great sequel to Outlaw and I enjoy how it ties in with the Breakers series.

I loved the entire Breaker series so had to read these as well and am glad I did. They still tied back to the original series.
