LAYLA DORINE lives among the sprawling prairies of Midwestern America, in a house with more cats than people. She loves hiking, fishing, swimming, martial arts, camping out, photography, cooking, and dabbling with several artistic mediums. In addition, she loves to travel and visit museums, historic, and haunted places.

Layla got hooked on writing as a child, starting with poetry and then branching out, and she hasn’t stopped writing since. Hard times, troubled times, the lives of her characters are never easy, but then what life is? The story is in the struggle, the journey, the triumphs and the falls. She writes about artists, musicians, loners, drifters, dreamers, hippies, bikers, truckers, hunters and all the other folks that she’s met and fallen in love with over the years. Sometimes she writes urban romance and sometimes its aliens crash landing near a roadside bar. When she isn’t writing, or wandering somewhere outdoors, she can often be found curled up with a good book and a kitty on her lap.

Loved

When Phoenix is injured on the job yet again Aspen & Parker take their shot in caring for the overworked pup. Phoenix is this beautiful dictomy of sub and protector, where he only his allows himself to letho when he let's people in, which is hard when you grew up in a family as close as his yet hold their secrets close. Aspen and Parker have been friends forever and yet never were able to take that next step of being a couple until Phoenix doesn't want to pick but makes it possible as a throple. This was another great addition to the Lactin Brotherhood universe loved the rigjt amount of kink mixed in that pulls this group together.

Phoenix is a protective bouncer who always puts others first, until Parker and Aspen — older, nurturing, and unexpectedly perfect for him — enter his life. Between drag‑show nights and tender afternoons curled up together, Phoenix starts to dream of a future with them. But their differences may be harder to bridge than he hopes, leaving him to figure out whether this unexpected love can truly last.

This was an enjoyable story with Phoenix at the centre as he juggled his demanding job and the injuries that came with protecting others. Those moments of vulnerability opened the door for Parker and Aspen to step in, caring for him while also acting as his handlers, which added a warm, nurturing dynamic to the story. I loved the gentle support they gave him and how it helped Phoenix refocus on his career and his future. It’s a sweet, comforting read, and although a few scenes could have used deeper emotion, the story was still very enjoyable overall. This was an MMM story with mature content and a BDSM-like Daddy/boy dynamic with pup play.

a bit of a disappointment

I really enjoyed the first book in this small series by this author, but this one was a disappointment.

My main issue with this book is that there’s no puppy play until after 80%. My other issue is that this story seems like it starts after Aspen and Parker talk stuff thru and we begin after the three of them have already started dating. With their interactions in the first book I expected to get more back story in this one.

Lastly, if you’re someone who doesn’t enjoy internal dialogue, this should be a skip. I appreciate it, but I know many who don’t.

I enjoyed this so much.

I love this series. Each book is so different. Such unique characters that are best together. Love that Aspen and Parker were friends first before Phoenix got into the mix. I loved their word play too.
