Sage Monroe is an indie romance author from East Tennessee, where she spent more than three decades as an educator before retiring to write the stories she'd been quietly saving up for years.
Her writing lives at the intersection of emotional realism and desire — stories about love that's complicated by circumstance, people who want things they're not supposed to want, and the quiet moments that change everything. She writes for readers who want to feel something real.
Sage approaches fiction the way she once approached a classroom: with attention to the individual, a belief in the power of a well-told story, and a firm conviction that the most honest writing happens when you stop playing it safe. Her debut novel was released in 2026, and she has several projects currently in development.
She lives in Tennessee and can usually be found on her back porch with a book, a glass of sweet tea, and something in the works.
Forty-year-old venture capitalist, Victoria, hires twenty-five-year-old chef, Josie, to prepare and serve meals for a Friday through Sunday business meeting at her home along the Northern Atlantic coast. A nor’easter comes through and cancels the weekend business trip, but Josie is already there and is eventually trapped with Victoria due to the weather conditions.
The writing was quite good, very descriptive, the characters were interesting, and the chemistry developed between Victoria and Josie sizzled with possibility. My only issue was the highly repetitive use of one word…bergamot, which must have been repeated twenty times in the novella. Nonetheless, I will be reading other stories by Sage Monroe.
