Love and Freedom #2

Blood in the Glass

Rate this book
Moon Miller
I didn't regret it. Not one bit. I'd do it again if I had to. So why was I so messed up about it?
After fifteen years, my secrets had finally caught up to me. After fifteen years of pretending, I'd snapped.
I'd done the unthinkable for my brothers. I'd do it again if I had to. I'd do anything to protect my siblings, and yet I'd failed time and time again.
My secrets found me. The tips of my fingers trembled, aching and begging to slice all the memories out of my body. My heart sank behind a metal cage, closing itself off from the world around it.
And through it all, Officer Blake--the same officer who questioned me the night of the attack--just wouldn't leave me alone.

Emerson Blake
Grief was an all-consuming, constant leech of all things good in life. It left a hole in my heart and a constant ringing in my ears that never went away.
I didn't adjust well to change. I couldn't handle loneliness. But suddenly, I was transferred to a new town, in a new house, where I knew nobody and nothing.
Until I walked into Muffin Haven and saw him.
Moon Miller, the same man I'd questioned six months prior. He had deep caverns for eyes and a soul so broken, my empty heart ached to soothe it.
And I'd stop at nothing to bring some light into his eyes. Maybe my friendship could give him a glimmer of hope.

Blood in the Glass is an MM hurt/comfort romance. It features a bi-awakening, a brat who loves to argue with his Daddy, and true soulmates in the form of a lighthouse beneath a moonlit sky. Oh, and don't forget the stained glass...

Blood in the Glass is an interconnected standalone in the Love and Freedom series. It can be read alone, but it is best enjoyed after reading book one. This book contains heavy themes that could potentially be triggering. A detailed list of trigger warnings is included in the Content and Trigger Warnings section.

C.W. Scott has spent his entire life in the depths of the Deep South, dreaming that one day, he’d write hundreds of happy stories to counteract the bad ones. Starting as a poet, he eventually found his passion writing MM romance novels that maintain a lyrical and poetic essence in their style. Much like his poetry, his writing includes dark, difficult themes and brings them to life with a heartwarming, hard-fought HEA. Don’t ever ask him to cook or solve a math problem, though. He has one skill, and one skill alone. It’s in everyone’s best interests that no one pushes for a second.

Reading this book was like slowly pulling my hair out… Ouch. I don’t know why I did this to myself. Nothing — absolutely nothing — about it was good. If you’re looking for a good hurt/comfort book, stay far away from this one.

I wasn’t sure what kind of pain I was getting into when I picked this up only that at some point I’d feel it (it’s a C.W. Scott book after all) and I did. This was different than what I expected however in that we focused more on healing and the aftermath of trauma versus being within it. Moon and Emerson both had parts of their pasts to overcome and although they were very different circumstances they left marks similar enough for them to bond and help one another heal.

I really enjoyed the relationship development of these two. They met on one of the worst days in Moon’s life and unexpectedly became friends and eventually more. Emerson became Moon’s safe place. The person he could rely on and trust. The person who took care of him and never gave up. In turn Moon gave Emerson a purpose and someone to give his love and attention to. They were exactly what the other needed.

I appreciated that therapy was a tool chosen to help Moon and Emerson and that we got to see it implemented. I also appreciated their communication with each other. This was a great read!

**I WAS GRATEFUL AND LUCKY TO RECEIVE AN ARC/BETA COPY OF THIS BOOK**

This book was everything to me. There were moments where I was heaving with sobs, completely undone, and others where I found myself kicking my feet and giggling at the banter. Moon and Emerson are made of beauty and tragedy, who find themselves crossing paths, and together they show each other that you are worthy of something, even when you don’t believe it yourself. 😭

I loved everything single thing about Moon and Emerson…their connection, the gentle submission, the strong and steady care. They were both carrying heavy things, mourning different kinds of loss, Moon is mourning the loss of innocence that comes from taking a life, even if it was for the right reasons. Emerson is mourning the people he loves that got taken away from them to soon... They are both trying to make sense of how to keep going. They found a way to open their hearts again… to something they never thought they’d be able to have.

Moon is everything. He’s someone trying to find light after living in darkness for far too long. He’s fought so many demons, and at his core, he’s just been waiting—waiting for someone to see him, to choose him, to believe he’s worth it when he couldn’t see that for himself.

And Emerson… Emerson just wanted to love again. To take care of someone. To give that part of himself that had been quiet for so long after losing so much. He felt lost, wandering through his own grief, until somehow, he found Moon, something that was meant to be found.

And even through all of that depth and emotion, the spice in this story was incredible. HELLO TO DADDY EMERSON AND BRATTY BOY MOON!?
NOT TO MENTION… All the whimpering, the neediness, the care, the dirty talk. IT WAS MAKING ME SWEAT LIKE EMERSON… POST RUN.😍🥵

This story is truly beautiful, even in its most shattered places. There’s something so raw and honest at its core. I knew going into this that I would love Moon after everything he went through in Daisies, and this book not only met that expectation, it expanded into something even more meaningful.

Thank you, CW Scott, for trusting me with this story, for trusting me with Moon and Emerson. I hope I took good care of them… I hope I did them justice. I hope they shine as bright as you wanted them too, as bright as they deserved.

Being able to work with you… It’s something I’ll never take for granted.💛

I just finished Blood in the Glass by C. W. Scott and wow… this book absolutely destroyed me in the best way.

This is the first book I’ve read by C. W. Scott and I’m already giving it six stars, because five honestly does not feel like enough.

The writing felt so poetic and heartfelt. It completely pulled me into the story and into the characters’ emotions. I wasn’t just reading about what Moon and Emerson were going through. I felt like I was right there with them experiencing every heavy moment, every hopeful one, and every bit of healing in between.

Moon’s emotional vulnerability broke my heart over and over again. His pain felt so raw and real that there were multiple moments where I just wanted to reach through my Kindle and hug him. Watching everything he carried on his shoulders and the guilt he lived with made his character incredibly powerful.

Emerson was just as compelling. He is dealing with his own grief, yet he still finds the strength to show up for Moon and try to bring some light back into his life. Their connection felt deep and genuine, and I loved watching it slowly grow.

One of my favorite things about this story was the support systems around them. The people in their lives felt real and supportive in a way that made the whole story feel grounded. It was clear that these characters weren’t facing everything alone, and those relationships added so much warmth to an otherwise heavy story.

I also really enjoyed the age gap element, especially because it was an older age gap. Instead of the typical twenties and thirties dynamic, these characters are in their thirties and forties. I actually had to remind myself of that sometimes while reading, but it made the story feel more mature and layered in a way I really appreciated.

And the pet names between them were honestly adorable. Those small moments of affection helped balance the heavier emotional parts of the story and made their connection feel even more special.

This book wrecked me emotionally and I loved every second of it. Hurt and comfort stories can be incredibly powerful when they are done well, and this one absolutely was.

You need to read this. I promise.

I like this author but this specific series is not for me. It's not even about the angst, it's that I don't like their dynamics which takes away from the reading experience imo.

I didn’t think it was possible for me to love this book more than the first one in the series, but I do. Moon has spent 15 years hiding his pain and the festering darkness inside him from everyone he loves. He only has one goal: protect his siblings no matter what. But every time he seems to fail and the darkness spreads until it threatens to swallow him whole. Emerson’s grief is a consuming physical thing. It leaves him empty and with an incessant ringing in his ears. When he is transferred to a new town, he doesn’t handle the change well. Then he runs into Moon. Emerson met Moon on one of the worst days of Moon’s life and now he’s back and he won’t leave Moon alone. Because Emerson recognizes the look he sees in Moons eyes and something in him can’t let it lie. As their friendship grows and changes both men will have to choose, whether to take the steps to heal or to let the darkness swallow them.
I love this series. But this book specifically… it healed something in me as I read it. I related with both characters so deeply, on such a personal level, that it almost hurt when the story was over. I just wanted more. As someone who has struggled heavily with SH in the past and recently lost my father, I really appreciated the representation that was written into both Moon and Emerson’s journeys. Moons struggle with his trauma and mental health was so tactfully and beautifully written. I more specifically really appreciated how it was an ongoing issue that he had been hiding for so long, as it made his story feel more thought out and real. Emerson’s journey with grief is one I’m still in the midst of myself. It was so validating to read, and also to be reminded there is healing and light at the end of the tunnel.
The relationship between the two characters was another thing I truly enjoyed. I am a sucker for the hurt/comfort trope, but I always appreciate when the characters have to work for the relationship they build. And then we get to the point where some of the banter and more spicy scenes start to take place. I cannot commend the author enough for putting the moments of negotiation and aftercare in the story and not just skipping over them. Especially given who Moon is and his backstory, it just makes for an exquisite read.
Blood in the Glass is a beautifully written book that I will be recommending to anyone whenever I get the chance. If you enjoy MM romance, that is all hurt/comfort, and has amazing mental health rep I urge you to give this book a read.

Oh my god what a fucking book. This book gets all my stars and it can have my heart and soul too.

Normally I’m more hung up on one MMC but I’d like to formally submit my application for one Emerson and Moon please. The complete package to-go wrapped in handcuffs thank you. 🙏

I liked book one but I’m obsessed with this one. The caregiver energy from Emerson from the first scene was perfection and I loved him the entire time. He’s the definition of a Daddy. Moon surprised me in the best of ways. His character growth was so deep and emotional and heartfelt. These are characters that stick with you for a long time.

This is a story of recovery, self discovery, self acceptance, and every kind of love. Moon is a perpetual caretaker to the external and also to a fault. He’s killed for his family and he regrets nothing but it haunts him every day. How does he cope? Protecting everyone but himself and some painfully dark habits. What he wasn’t expecting was a knight in a shining police badge to bring some light into his seemingly endless dark world.
Emerson is starting over in a new town in a new house with new coworkers in his precinct. He runs into a familiar face with eyes so dark and filled with familiar shadows. He doesn’t know why but something inside him tells him to get close to Moon and try and find a way to get rid of the shadows behind his eyes. With some persistent and reinforcing in the form of showing up, Em breaks down Moons walls enough to give him the light he so deserves.

The spice in here is a medium burn with alllll the tension and a glorious pay off. 3.75/5 🌶️ . I absolutely LOVED the explicit convent and limits discussion that was also ongoing throughout any and all sex scenes with the MMC’s.

Please please please read the trigger warnings. This one is intense and vivid. There are a few potentially extremely triggering things that happen or are discussed in this book including self harm (on page) and rape (off page referenced to the past. Your mental health is more important than any book.

Thank you to the author for the ARC! All thoughts are my own.

Love and freedom Book 2
C.W. Scott

Moon & Emerson

Hurt / Comfort
Mental Health Rep
Age gap
Light bondage
Brat / Daddy ( no age play)
Bi-awakening

SO, this was, I don’t know, fantastic, beautiful, stunning, healing … all the above and more.

I LOVED them, oh my heart this was so beautiful. I was one of those who desperately needed to know Moon had a HEA especially after how Daisies In Water ended, my heart ached for Moon.

Emerson meets Moon on the literal worst night of his life… ugh I have tears in my eyes thinking about it. These two were meant to be, written in the stars.

Emerson was Moon's light in his very dark world… eeek my heart.

C.W. Scott is a phenomenal author. The topics that are written about in his books are heavy and tough, but oh how he writes them with some vulnerability, tenderness. And also realness. You feel everything right along with the characters in his books.

You felt both of their pain, sweet Moon was not the only one struggling. Both of these incredible men needed healing, and this book delivered for me beyond belief.

These two were everything, their story was so healing, so beautiful, just so stinking good that I stayed up way to later/early lol to finish it, I could not put it down…. I sobbed tears of sadness and tears of joy with and for them.

Stunning book. Beautiful story. Protect Moon, Emerson, Elio, Crescent, and Star and their parents at all costs… just I love them.

I highlighted so much, it was just so poetic, so beautiful, so real, and it hurt so good… but oh boy do we did an epic HEA. A beautiful Happy Ending!!!! I loved it.

Outstanding book … just absolutely so well done. My heart is happy know Moon, Emerson, Elio and Crescent are ok.

SO thankful for this arc

I just knew going in to this I was going to cry a million tears and have my heart broken. I have come to expect that from this author. The thing I did not think would happen, would be the way I felt as if I could relate in so many ways with one of the characters.

Moon, oh my sweet, sweet broken Moon. I see you, I relate with you and I am so happy you found the strength to get the help you needed. You did not deserve everything that happened to you. You deserve light, and happiness and joy and love. I lost count of the amount of times I cried over Moon and with him throughout this whole damn book.

Emerson saw Moon on one of the worst nights of his life. Does that keep him away from him when they find each other now live in the same town? Nope, not at all. If anything I feel it drew him even closer. Emerson wedged himself in to Moon's life and I think it was just what Moon needed.

Emerson was the light to bring Moon out of the darkness. They formed this bond and connection that only strengthened as time went on. The amount of support and safe space that Emerson gave to Moon was absolutely beautiful. They both helped heal a part of them that they didn't break and I think that spoke volumes to the amount of love between the two.

The whole Miller family 🥺😭 gah so much love and so much support

That ending, Breathtakingly beautiful. Absolutely what these two deserved.

I have said this about CW Scott’s writing before it is literal poetry in novel form. The way he weaves words together is haunting and beautiful. This book is no exception.
Moon Miller is a broken in a way that from page one has us rooting for him. He protected his family and in doing so bruised his soul beyond his recognition. You know by the way he describes his pain that he is hiding something. When the dam breaks… does
It break right along with Moon and Emersons hearts.
Emerson Blake met Moon on a dark day, Emerson was drawn to Moon immediately and he stuck with him right until the met again and he quite literally forced a friendship out of him. Never having been attracted to men before it took a minute for him to realize that was what he was feeling. When the realization hit he was all in. He was struggling himself with grief, having lost his brother and his parents.
The relationship between these two characters is one of healing. Both themselves and eachother. It is beautiful.
I liked that this book was focused more on the feeling journey in the aftermath of tragedy and as always the internal monologue was crafted in such a poetic way.
There is spice in this book and it has some kinks in it, while some of them are not my favorite to read the writing CW Scott does is enough to see past my dislike for them. You can feel the emotion through the page and are cheering these characters on in their growth.
If you haven’t read Daisies in the Water I suggest you do so because all these characters are introduced in it.

Moon Miller is barely surviving.

The trauma he’s endured and the choices he was forced to make to protect his brothers still haunt him every single day. Even though he knows he did what he had to do, the guilt of the lives lost sits heavy on his shoulders. The nightmares never stop, and instead of leaning on the people who love him most, Moon shuts them out—pushing away even his own siblings while he drowns in the weight of his memories.

Then Emerson Blake refuses to walk away.

One horrific night ties their lives together, and from that moment on Emerson is drawn to Moon in a way he can’t ignore. No matter how hard Moon tries to keep his distance, Emerson stays. Patient. Steady. Determined. Slowly, little by little, he begins to break through Moon’s walls and give him something Moon hasn’t felt in a long time—safety.

This book was such an emotional read. Moon truly believes he’s undeserving of love, and it hurts to watch him carry so much pain alone. But Emerson sees him—the broken parts, the guilt, the scars—and loves him anyway. Completely. Fiercely. Without hesitation.

Watching Emerson care for Moon and gently help him find his way back to the light was incredibly beautiful. Their relationship grows slowly and authentically, making every moment feel real and deeply earned.

A powerful story about guilt, healing, and the kind of love that refuses to give up on you.

And that HEA?
Absolutely deserved. ❤️

I knew this book was going to hurt. But I wasn’t prepared for just how much.

Moon absolutely broke me. From the very beginning, you can feel how fractured he is - how he's just surviving, not living. The anxiety, the guilt, the constant fear of losing the people he loves so much…it's heavy in a way that never lets up. Watching him pretend he's fine while quietly unraveling in such a heartbreakingly way was honestly devastating.

And then there's Emerson.
Soft, patient, and carrying his own grief, but still choosing to show up. Again, and again, and again. Even when Moon pushes him away. Even when it hurts. The way he offers quiet, unwavering support instead of forcing anything. It was everything.

Their connection isn't easy. It's messy, slow, and full of pain. But that's what made it feel so damn real. Two lonely, broken men learning how to exist beside each other before they even think about love.

When Moon finally starts opening up…when he lets someone see the darkest parts of him…I was gone. Fully sobbing, because him finally starting to heal was such a beautiful thing to witness.

This story handles trauma, healing, and love with so much care. It doesn't rush anything.
It lets the characters sit in their pain, and that makes every small step forward feel earned.

And that ending? Beautiful. Completely, overwhelmingly beautiful.

I received an advanced review copy

As I write this review, tears are welling in my eyes. The depth of emotion that fills me for these characters and the journey they went on in this book is insurmountable. From the moment that Moon and Emerson emerged onto the pages, I was enraptured. The complexity of their emotions—pain, sorrow, love, and happiness pulled me in as we journeyed through their story. To love people more than loving yourself is…heartbreaking. To put others' needs, protection, and happiness before your own. The value of someone’s life, the answer to the question “ who are you” is not dependent on what you do for others or who you are to other people…it’s who you are for you. The tears… they just kept coming because this story connected with me in so many ways. The pacing of Moon and Emerson’s relationship allowed for everything to flow organically and the depth of their connection to grow. The internal struggles that they both go through are so different and handled with so much care. Themes of loss, grief, Identity, healing, and family are so prevalent throughout this story. The family element made me want to call my older sister to thank her and hug her to show her appreciation. Moon is such a great brother but he is much, much more than that. Emerson is so full of love and light. They are a perfect puzzle coming together to be completed.

When poetry turns into a love story. ♥️

I don’t know how C.W. Scott does it, but even though this is quite a heavy book (with intense themes, definitely check the trigger warnings), it’s written in such a beautiful way. I rarely come across a book that is written this beautifully. 🤍

Moon, oh Moon. The big brother, the protector. But so deeply broken. What he has been through is something no one should ever have to endure.
And yet, somewhere beneath all that pain and sorrow, there is a truly beautiful person.

Emerson, also shattered by his own grief, and still a steady rock for Moon.

These two meet in such an unusual way… and yet, somehow, they eventually find their way to each other. Call it fate? 🥹🌙

My heart ached while reading this. The themes were handled with so much warmth and care, and the love between these two,and within the entire Miller family… what a beautifully chaotic group of siblings!

This was a slow burn, yet the spice and intimacy was there. Also the Daddy vibes fir perfectly in this story!
I loved it 🤭

C.W. Scott, this was my first book by you, but it certainly won’t be my last. 🩷
Please keep writing these beautiful yet raw stories in your own poetic way, because wow… this was truly stunning!! 🌙♥️

book gutted me!! It was raw, so emotional and all consuming. Moon has a heart of gold, his sole purpose is ensure that nothing happens to his family. He loves fierce and at times it is a little suffocating to his brothers and sister but he means well. He rather put on a mask of happy go lucky then let anyone see the pain he has been internalizing for years.
Emerson is the police officer that meets Moon on the worst night of his life. Whether it is coincidence or fate that puts both Moon and Emerson in the same town once again, Emerson is completely drawn to Moon and can see all the pain he is trying to hide from the outside world as he is suffering in silence as well with his own traumas. Emerson wants nothing more than to be there for Moon in any capacity Moon will allow his company.
These two broken souls journey to love and healing is so powerful. Emerson’s unconditional love of Moon is so pure he is the missing piece in a life he has been so desperately searching for. And Moon, sweet Moon is just a the ultimate protector. Emerson’s light and love is what Moon needs to heal the wounds that have been haunting him since he was 15 years old. This book is incredible. Along with Daisies in the Water, this is one of the best series I have ever read.

I absolutely LOVED the first book, and while I really enjoyed this book and the awareness it brought to very difficult traumatic topics (which the author wrote about beautifully) the whole daddy/brat thing was hard for me to get behind. The caretaker daddy vibes I totally get from Emerson, but Moon being a brat? Like all he did was be a little sassy or refused to get out of bed for breakfast. Idk, I just couldn't see it.

And how after the super emotional chapter of Moon 'meeting' Emerson's parents (which, like, who was cutting onions here 😭) we go straight into a chapter literally starting off with Moon talking about how hard he was (🍆). It was such a tone change that really threw me off.

Lastly, if you know your partner is currently struggling with their mental health and most likely severe depression, why would you wait SIX WHOLE DAYS of radio silence from them to try to enter their apartment? He's literally a cop and could've called in for a welfare check or even just broken the door down himself. I know it was a new relationship at the time, but if in his gut he knew something was wrong and he waited that long? That's a little hard to believe.

Wow this hurt… but in the most meaningful way.

I went in expecting pain (because… it's C.W. Scott—and Daisies in the Water left me an emotional wreck), but what I got was a story centred on healing, recovery, and what comes after trauma. Moon and Emerson are both carrying heavy pasts, and while their experiences differ, the way those wounds shape them creates such a powerful connection.

Their relationship builds so naturally...from meeting on one of Moon’s worst days, to friendship, to something deeper. Emerson becomes Moon’s safe place: steady, patient, and unwavering. In return, Moon gives Emerson purpose and somewhere to pour all that love he’s been holding.

I really appreciated the focus on therapy, communication, and support, not just between them, but within their wider circle. It made the healing feel real, earned, and deeply emotional.

This is a heavy read, but also a beautiful one. Tender, supportive, and full of growth, with a hard-earned HEA that makes it all worth it.

One that will definitely stay with me.

This book dives deep into trauma and mental health, which I usually love. Moon is such an overprotective oldest brother haunted by his past and by the lives he had to take in Book 1 to save his brother and himself. His grief and guilt felt incredibly real. Watching a protector grapple with the moral weight of self-defense was fascinating and heartbreaking. Emerson, the officer who responded to the scene, was the perfect steady counterpart. His own background with the loss of his parents and twin brother added a lot of emotional weight to his desire to be there for Moon.

However, I struggled with the daddy/brat dynamic. While Emerson is a wonderful, caring caregiver, I had a hard time reconciling Moon’s "bratty" behavior with his established role as a fierce protector. It felt a bit out of character for him. And portions of the story felt like it dragged on longer than necessary. I loved the friendship and the healing. It’s a sweet story of trust and letting people in, but the kink/dynamic just didn't connect for me.

Blood in the Glass

CW SCOTT

This book was such a phenomenal read, my heart definitely hurt for Moon and Em. These two broken souls longing to find each other. The emotions and the raw of this book hit me in the heart, but it was so worth the ending was so beautiful. Show how someone beautiful can come out of just a little light and finding the other piece!

CW Scott has moved to my list of auto buy authors and will stay there. If you looking for raw emotional read and a story that will stay with you until the very end. Pick up Daisies in the Water and Blood in the Glass! These two are my first to books by this author and I felt everything from sad, happy, I cried and then I felt so close cause so much of these words I have longed for!!

This was such a beautiful, thoughtful, and emotional read. I felt so deeply for these characters and for everything they were going through. The writing is exceptional, and all topics in the story were handled with so much care, something I would always appreciate in CW books. Moon and Emerson have my entire heart.

Moon and Emerson are dealing with a lot and navigating it in their own way. They first met after a very intense traumatic experience, very unexpected, but with subtle interest for both to take notice of each other.
Emerson was so drawn to Moon’s sadness; it spoke to him, and he couldn’t help but want to be close to him.

These two have such an intense, emotional, beautiful healing journey. How their friendship started and how slowly Moon was able to open up and trust Emerson. Allowing himself to finally have someone there for him no matter how ugly and scary it could get.
Emerson was dealing with his grief and new surroundings; despite how overwhelming everything was, he was able to find solace in the company Moon provided. He was able to find love in such a magnificent person.

This story made me cry, laugh, and swoon. They are going to have such a special place in my heart with such an inspiring and healing story.

woah, CW Scott lays bare a lot of extreamly tough topics around trauma and mental health in a very sensitive, insightful and realistic way. Not just for the protagonist but their support circle and family, the help that they find from unexpected corners and how love pushes them to reach for what they deserve and deny themselves.

It’s actually a very sweet supportive love story with an age gap that really works for them. They have a lovely organic daddy brat dynamic and they are very very hot, this book is high heat!!

Both Em and Moon get a very very satisfying healing journey and an HEA though it’s very tough going for a while.

This was a very hard story to read but it’ll stay with me for everything these characters went through and how courageously their story was shared with us

Genuinely.. What?!?!? CW Scott - how did you do this again?!?!

Read the triggers!

Buckle up and make sure you are prepared - this book hit me square in the chest. I felt every feeling so intensely! CW Scott just knows how to knock the wind from your lungs and make you gasp for air. This book is very deep and very emotional. If you have the space, its worth ever page, every word.

Moon and Emerson are 100% meant for each other. The way that Emerson showed up for Moon needed him the most and stayed through ever dark day. I cant say enough about how much I love the writing, the story telling, the attention to character building. Gaahh I will forever be grateful CW Scott started to share their story's with us.

This was completely heartbreaking and absolutely beautiful all at the same time.
Poor Moon struggled so much with his past and his trauma i just wanted to give him to biggest longest hug.
And sweet daddy Emerson made me cry many times with how much he loved and cared for Moon.
Its been a while since I've become so emotional while reading a book but this story hits deep for me and I needed Moon to get his HEA and he definitely did with Em ❤️
I have a deep love for C.W. Scott's chacters and their stories and I can't wait to read more!

I recieved an arc copy and this is my honest opinion!

This really hit me in the feels. It was absolutely heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time. The turmoil of Moon's mind was devastating and I really felt for him. I just wanted to wrap him up in a burrito blanket and just hold him until the pain goes away. Emerson was so good for him through it all. The things he said to Moon made me want to cry. Like please hold all the pieces, Em. Just make sure our baby Moon is okay. I am glad they got help especially Moon cause that poor man was absolutely ruined. Such an emotional and amazing story. I loved it.

The start of Moon and Em’s story is not easy, with both of them dealing with very traumatic situations. But as they get to know each other, it becomes clear there is an inevitable pull among them. I loved how Em was there for Moon no matter what, despite him dealing with his own anxiety, pain. The gay awakening was also handled beautifully. There is angst and heartbreak but this couple helped each other heal, with a love that felt so raw and real it has me in tears. Thank you to C.W. Scott for this advanced reader copy.

WHAT A BOOK!!

CW Scott writing is just freaking amazing.

Moon stole my heart. He has gone through so much in his life and seeing him finally open up and get help had the tears flowing.

Emerson was the perfect partner for Moon. I love how he protects Moon.

The overall story is so heart breaking. We have 2 broken men just trying to make it through life. Emerson was the cop that arrested Moon in book 1 of this series. Emerson saw Moon in the new town he moved to and never gave up on Moon. It was just beautiful.

I recommend you reading this book.

Emotionally Dark.

I was wholly unprepared for this book. I won’t go into detail about how triggering it was, because I think it’s only relative to my trauma. But damn will I be talking about this in therapy.

Regardless, the depth of emotion was deep and dark. The writing was great. The romance was a bit savior-type, but wholesome in the way that two lonely souls finding love and peace can be. This book is on a whole other level compared to the previous one. Both characters chose to work hard to experience character development.
