I made it through 100 pages of this book before I decided to DNF it. I felt no engagement with the MC, and no LIs had been introduced by that point.
The MC is a diesel mechanic and the world has just started a zombie apocalypse. He finds some idiots to group up with, and spends all his off-time scrounging up stuff to make up a hybrid electric/diesel vehicle of some sort. All his interactions with the group he's with are antagonistic with the exception of the older woman that manages supplies. Between the one woman trying to slip into his bed constantly, to the "leaders" being idiots, it's no fun.
One of his goals is to find his best friend that is a train conductor. The guy has some place south of where he's at, and he's a major prepper. After nearly 100 pages, he finally gets to the guy's place, only to find that his friend had been bitten and took his own life so he wouldn't turn. So now he's going to look at some locomotives at some train yard. And I realized I just didn't care.
Very few rail harems out the and very few MC thqt were mechanics. I enjoyex all the train engeneering. Thatbaction sequences wsre engaging. Well devloped characters. Over all it was an amazing "ride".
