Perfect for reluctant readers and word lovers alike, Dan Gutman's hugely popular My Weird School series has something for everyone. Don't miss the hilarious adventures of A.J. and the gang!
The author of over 80 books in a little over a decade of writing, Dan Gutman has written on topics from computers to baseball. Beginning his freelance career as a nonfiction author dealing mostly with sports for adults and young readers, Gutman has concentrated on juvenile fiction since 1995. His most popular titles include the time-travel sports book Honus and Me and its sequels, and a clutch of baseball books, including The Green Monster from Left Field. From hopeful and very youthful presidential candidates to stunt men, nothing is off limits in Gutman's fertile imagination. As he noted on his author Web site, since writing his first novel, They Came from Centerfield, in 1994, he has been hooked on fiction. "It was fun to write, kids loved it, and I discovered how incredibly rewarding it is to take a blank page and turn it into a WORLD."
Gutman was born in New York City in 1955, but moved to Newark, New Jersey the following year and spent his youth there.
Spoiler alert! The winner of the contest is ......... no I won't tell, but you can probably guess. The contest is a brain game between Dirk school and Ella Mentary school. You'll never believe who won? I'm not going to tell you. Ok, ok, but you have to read the next chapter.-arlo jurves
They are starting the brain games and before they start they have to build a bridge and build a car. But when they start the first game there is a bunch of questions and they hit the buzzer. They first person to answer correctly wins 10 points. The second round is something where they put a bunch of weight on their bridge and it's worth 100 points because they have to make their bridge be stronger than 100 pounds. Their school wins the bridge round. Then they have to write a poem about garbage but they don't have much time so they just make one up and say it.
I like this book because it is really, really silly!
This book was good and I vaguely remember it but it was one of my favorite books when I was in elementary school.Their teacherMiss Brownis an expert on creativity and the third grade builds a car and a bridge to compete in a Brain Games against Dirk School.
LFL find. Very light and short, but still satisfying enough that I'll read more in the series if I can find them easily. I'm guessing that different books are from different students' points of view - in this one A.J. learns that being G&T is a good thing.
I rated it a 4 because it was better than a 3. I think their school should win the brain games because they are smarter. Read the book to find out what happens.

This story is a weird, but wild tale about being in school and having to use your brain in creative ways. I think this should be a required reading for all youths, it will help them think outside the box of normality!
Dan Gutman understands young reader’s humor and has created a fantastic book formula to draw in even the most reluctant of readers. The My Weird School series is perfect for students to practice their reading skills with its repetitive yet hysterical narrative and story lines. But don’t mention that part to your kiddos, they might run away in fear they could learn something! A must have collection for any grade school library or classroom!
In this edition Miss Brown has walking into Elle Mentary's third grade classroom on her hands to get the students excited about creative ways of doing everything. Hopefully this creativity will help them win in the big competition against their rival school Dirk.
This book is about a young boy named AJ who thinks it's lame to be smart even though he is in the Gifted and Talented program! His school goes against their rival school in s Brain Game Challenge!!! As AJ is elected one of the two presidents of their team, he and his partner Andrea (the know it all in the classroom) work together to answer random questions! They build a bridge and also a crazy car! They race to beat their rival school. Read to see which team will win!!! I would recommend this book to teachers and parents who have children who are so intelligent but think it is weird to be the smart kid in the class.
