I’m convinced that Kenya Moss-Dyne strategically sat down and said what can I write to blow the readers minds and she did exactly that! May’s story left my mouth dropped for several reasons, & with what she endured for treatment, just let the disease take me at this point! These chemo treatments had some eerie side effects that will leave you speechless! Overall, fans of horror stories with some gore mixed in will enjoy!
This was a gripping and horrifying tale. Kenya knows how to paint vivid pictures in gruesome detail, all while making you think. Can't wait for the next read!
This book has me speechless 😶. Seriously, I'm at a loss for words! What did I just read?! I'm still processing everything. My mind is blown 🤯. This is something you need to experience for yourself.
What creepy read! So great for spooky season! Everything horror, blood, vampirish FMC. I'm glad I randomly picked this book up just in time for the season of all things Halloween!
Devil Inside is one of those short reads that grips you from page one and refuses to let go. Kenya Moss-Dyme has a way of pulling readers into uncomfortable conversations—and this time, she dives straight into the dark, unsettling world of cancer treatment and the hidden truths surrounding it.
The story boldly explores a haunting question: when treatment becomes just as deadly as the disease, what are we really putting into our bodies? The side effects are known. The risks are documented. Yet the medications are still widely used. It forces you to ask—what’s really inside cancer meds, and who truly benefits?
What makes this book stand out is how quickly it pulls you in. It’s a short read, but it doesn’t waste a single page. The pacing is tight, the tension builds steadily, and the subject matter lingers long after you’ve finished. It challenges readers to think critically, question systems, and confront uncomfortable possibilities.
As always, Kenya’s writing makes you pause and reflect. She doesn’t just tell a story—she sparks a conversation. And whether you agree with every angle or not, you will walk away thinking.
If you’re looking for a thought-provoking read that keeps you engaged from beginning to end, Devil Inside delivers.
Talk about a wild read. One hand, I feel sorry for May. But on the other hand, I fear May. The end left me wanting more. But that is the great thing about Kenya Moss-Dymes writing. You will always want her next book. Devil Inside is a short story of a girl going through cancer and taking chemo. The side effects are crazy and creepy. You definitely don't want to be her friend. Or let her keep any of your pets at any time. This is a definite recommendation if you like horror stories. And you want to check the trigger warnings. It's not for the faint at heart.
Every time I read a story by Kenya Moss-Dyme, I know I’m in for a twist I didn’t see coming. Her creativity truly deserves more recognition.
In Devil Inside, she transforms her experience as a cancer survivor into something dark, haunting, and deeply unsettling. Without giving anything away, this isn’t just a nightmare for the main character—it ripples outward and affects everyone around her. The psychological tension builds in a way that keeps you turning pages.
If you love horror with depth, meaning, and unexpected twists, this one is definitely for you. Five stars without hesitation.
It’s difficult to write a well-developed short story that leaves readers feeling completely satisfied, but this author makes it look effortless. Her writing never ceases to amaze me. In just 75 pages, she builds atmosphere, develops layered characters, and delivers a story that feels both tight and emotionally impactful.
Nothing feels rushed, yet nothing is wasted.
This is proof that you don’t need 300 pages to tell a powerful story. You just need skill — and she has it.
There was something about this story. Before things began to get extremely chaotic just the detail journey of the main characters treatments had me so locked in. The author did an amazing job grabbing the readers attention and tugged a bit at my strings but then quickly gave me whiplash with how things quickly escalated. I was in a slump and needed something that wake the brain and this was so perfect for that.
It has been quite some time since I've read a book by Kenya Moss-Dyme, so when I seen she offered this book for free, I jumped on it. While in the beginning I had sympathy for May as she battled with her illness, as the book progressed my feelings abruptly shifted. May was sick not only physically but mentally as well. Twisted, horrific scenes made this a great thriller!
One of the most unsettling horror stories I've ever read. Moss-Dyme got under my skin from the first page, and I was enthralled the entire way. It's gory without the gore. A dive into cancer treatment rather than cancer itself. So little heart but such emotion. The storytelling was just incredible. I can't wait to read more of her work.
Thoroughly enjoyed this story. I don’t typically read horror, I am more of a fantasy girly. However this was a great introduction to that genre and has me wondering what else I may find that I like. It follows the story of one women’s trials with cancer and her transformation and decline from it. It had just enough gore to not be to off putting but still be shocking.
a perfect short read just in time for spooky season! i loved the twist this author made between medicine meant to help save your life, turning you towards unimaginable darkness. The fmc May truly goes down a harrowing transformation during her cancer treatment that’s rejuvenating for her, but really should call for a public health crisis! if you love horror, this is a great book to pick up!
I had no idea what this book was about. I didn't read the description I just went in cold, reading. This was like walking into a room, seeing something terrifying,, and then slowly trying to back out without anybody noticing... The terror was swift and did not let up.
Ooooh this book was fantastic. And like the saying goes a big dang you to cancer. Or an even bigger one to the medications they put inside you. This book was an adventure and I loved every minute of it. It wasn't my first book by the author and it certainly won't be my last. Do yourself a favor and get this book. Also be careful what you eat.
Kenya gives us a scarier way of looking at cancer and chemo LOL! I don't want to spoil it for other readers so grab this book sit back and enjoy this quick ride with May and her addictive chemo treatments.
Story but packed a punch. Kenya did not disappoint. My jaw was on the floor…May was something else hunty. That Red Devil took over and wouldn’t let her go. “Ninah”, “Others” and “A Song for Mama” took me clean out. I was hooked and didn’t want it to end. The cars though. I need more…
This read was fairly quick. I wanted it to go into more details about the reason the drug caused the side effects it did ite the others. But besides that it was ok.
A quick read that packs a punch! May is fighting cancer but what will be the consequences of her battle? Loved the pace and the unanswered questions! This could easily become a serial.
106 pages of WOW! I related to the first few pages of this book, I had cancer and Adriamycin was one of the chemos I was on during my first few rounds. Yes it was nasty stuff, I don’t remember it being red, but I’m glad it was nothing like what May experienced! I did lose my hair, luckily none of the other side effects May had, LOL. Another crazy unhinged and good short story, Kenya does it again!
