I’ve spent my life chasing a good time; no strings, no complications, and no heartbreak. Now that I have a stable job as a physical therapist at the university, I’m ready to look for a deeper connection. Then in walks Jared “Jett” Cordier; former Olympic golden boy, track legend… and the guy I used to watch like he was untouchable. Turns out, he’s closed off, broody, and about as welcoming as a slammed door.
But somewhere between late nights and arguments that burn a little too hot, something shifts and lines blur. One heated moment turns into another, and suddenly we’re involved in something that looks a lot like friends-with-benefits. It’s supposed to stay easy, but nothing about Jett feels casual.
Jett
I had everything once. Then I lost it all—my athletic career, my relationship, my dad.
Starting over as an assistant coach is my do-over. It’s supposed to be simple: keep my head down and do my job. Then comes Wes; too loud, too charming… too much. I’m trying desperately not to be sucked in and to keep him at arm’s length. But in the end, I let him in just enough to get a taste and forget what it feels like to be falling apart.
The more time I spend with Wes, the harder it is to pretend this is nothing. I can feel my walls crumbling, and I’m afraid. I don’t know if I’m strong enough to risk everything again.

Anything But Loveis a high-heat MM, opposites attract, friends-with-benefits, hurt/comfort romance. Get ready for an emotional ride when a notorious playboy collides with his guarded hero and has to decide if love is worth the risk.
Triggers/Content Warning: Off-page suicide attempt, mental health pressures of being an athlete, estrangement from parent, emotional abuse from a parent, dub-con, panic attacks, anxiety, mentions of institutionalization, depression, brain damage in a parent, brain surgery of parent, alcohol consumption, explicit sex and language.
Wes is a ray of sunshine and positive energy—you can’t help but adore him and want to wrap him up in a warm hug. He’s the perfect contrast to Jett’s guarded, grumpy personality. Wes wears his heart on his sleeve, while Jett keeps everything locked away, carrying the weight of past losses and convinced that letting people get too close will only end in heartbreak.
As Wes slowly chips away at those walls, what begins as a confusing but casual friends-with-benefits arrangement develops into something much deeper and more meaningful. I loved watching their relationship unfold.
The author makes it impossible not to root for them because you find yourself falling in love with the possibility of what they could become together.
Wes’s patience, warmth, and unwavering belief in Jett make every breakthrough feel earned, and every setback hurts just a little more.
The story tackles some difficult topics with care and emotion, but the payoff is worth it. Their journey is messy, heartfelt, and ultimately beautiful.
“I don’t know what the f*k is happening between us, but I know I don’t want it to stop.”
Wes and Jett are the main characters in this book. Wes knows Jett from before, when Jett was a big shot runner. They meet by chance in a bar with a not so successful encounter. When they later find out they have the same workplace, they must navigate their instant attraction and history. First of, I love how the authors included a broader spectrum of queer in this book. Most stop with 2 “flavors”. Secondly I love how the mental health issues are incorporated into the story. It is done with care and respect. I loved the dialogue between our characters in this book. A lovely combination between witty and seriousness. The nicknames are a great touch. This book packs quit some emotional depth. It not only involves finding out someones orientation, but also how to cope with history and mental health. Both our main characters go through a growth in this story. This engaging story is a satisfying MM romance book with compelling characters.
Wow! Definitely one now one of my favorite hurt/comfort reads. Wes and Jared “Jett” completely consumed me. Their story was definitely one that yes, steamy but oooooh the healing. Not to mention the awesome elements of found family. Wes was all confidence and understanding and that complimented the quiet and healing Jett so much. These two got off to an interesting start, while Jett was the grumpy, Wes was sunshine. The push and pull was HOTT!!!! Like HOTT, and the comand for eye contact that Jett demanded from Wes now lives rent free in my mind. The love and support Wes was raised with was exactly what Jett needed as he didn’t have that in his life, is only safe haven family wise his sister and her little family. Also, I love the normalization of therapy in Courtney’s writing, it was comforting to say the least. Wes and Jett were the perfect example/ reminder that we are all perfectly imperfect… and when someone loves and excepts you, even the pieces that you feel are damaged, that life is worth living not only for those who you love but for yourself.

Oh my, was this ever good. These two butted heads a lot in the beginning, that tension and angst was thick.
Wes, a sunshiny happy guy meets Jett, a broody, grumpy man. These two really were opposites, but it’s stories like this where they end up being perfect for each other.
At first I was worried, like whoah, uhmm ok, tension, angst enemies? I should have known better than to not trust both of these incredible authors lol
Wow what a beautiful story. This was incredibly emotional too at times.
The intimacy they have with each other was so beautiful to watch.
I loved the peace Wes was able to give Jett.
They were so sweet and perfect for each other. I also loved seeing previous characters as well. Such a beautiful found family.
I adore these two authors together. They really compliment each other.
Never meet your hero, that saying stands true when Wes spots Track legend Jett sat in the bar. Jett is a moody A hole to Wes but all is not as it seems.
Wes is a ray of sunshine that always has a positive outlook on life. Despite his family struggles, they are the most positive and supportive family going. I feel in love a little with them all.
Jett was a track legend, he was an Olympic golden boy on track to win gold medals until he didn't show up. My heart hurt for Jett and his struggles. But I loved that through it all his sister and her family were there to support him through it all. It filled with pride seeing him finally stand up to his dad.
Watching Jetts struggles on the page, seeing how Wes's presence helped Jett change his out look on life made my heart happy. Wes os so patient and understanding. He is the kind of life partner Jett needed to remind him that he is worthy.
Wes and Jett are perfection and must be protected at all costs.
I love Jett and Wes! The grump and the sunshine! They are actually quite perfect for one another! I love how Wes doesn’t question having feelings for a man when he’s only been with women! And who wouldn’t love to meet their hero in real time? this story had some harder parts about Jett’s past and how he handles trying to navigate his feelings for Wes when he doesn’t think he deserves the happiness he’s feeling. Breaks my heart what he went through. I love the side characters, Jett’s sister says it how it is and I love that! She’s not about to let him push Wes away. Wes is so fun and a dork as Jett likes to call him! He’s so easy going. Wes’s mom is precious as well as his grandparents! This story really touched me! With their start being kind of rough and with Jett’s past making it hard for him to fully let Wes in, in the end we get our happily ever after and I LOVED reading Wes and Jett’s story.
Anything but Love is the second book in The Cannon Beach Boys series.
This book brings back Wes, whom we met in the previous book and who is Dennis’s best friend.
Wes lands a job as a sports therapist at a university. One night, he meets his teenage idol, Jett, a runner who disappeared on the day he was supposed to compete in the Paris Olympics. No one knows what happened that day.
Jett lives with the trauma caused by his father and with mental health issues that lead to severe anxiety. Little by little, with therapy, he manages to get by until he meets Wes. With Wes by his side, he gradually regains control of his life.
It strikes the perfect balance between hurt and comfort, with plenty of spicy scenes.
This book is the perfect balance between hurt/comfort and spice.
Wes and Jett complement each other so incredibly well. On one side, we have Jett, who is haunted by his past and struggling with his mental health. On the other, there's Wes, who seems carefree on the surface but keeps a lot of his own struggles hidden from the people around him.
What I loved most was how they gradually became a safe place for each other. Their connection felt genuine, and watching them learn to trust and lean on one another was incredibly rewarding.
And honestly? They are just so damn cute together. I adored them.🥹
