2.5 stars and that's me being generous ... summer was such a bird brain ass pick me bitch and it irritated my soul. Breeze was toxic and abusive. And everybody else in the book had rocks for brains. I hate how "adult" they were at 18, going to the club every night, drinking, etc while still in HS. This was just.... a lot. Interesting enough to finish but idk if I'd recommend. Oh and idk what the author's obsession is with everybody being high yellow red bones but I pray she is released from the chokehold this descriptor has on her
I usually don’t read Taboo erotica but I like this book. I read other eroticas by this author and I really like the way she writes her erotica. The age of the characters is the only thing that made me not give this book a 5. Overall a solid book
First of all I loved the relationship between Summer and her mom! I know her mom let a lot of things slide under her roof but Summer was eighteen and the way I see it, her and Breeze would find a way to have sex and drink anyway. So why not do it in a safe and private environment. Second! The only thing I really didn’t car for but it made the book more interesting was how Sunmer played with Harlem’s feelings! Nobody deserves to be strung along like that. She played with him just to get back at Breeze for being with Ora. Speaking of Ora. Smh! I was feeling sorry for her for a brief moment but after she wasn’t feeling sorry for herself and couldn’t see what was LITERALLY right in front of her I was just smh and rolling my eyes at her. I feel like Breeze played with her feelings as well. Deep sigh! But such is life cause when you’re meant to be with someone nothing can stop it.
Whew what a read. I ain't gone lie Breeze and Summer we're driving me crazy but I am glad that they finally got it together. That Ora was crazy for wanting to be with Breeze even with him being completely honest about Summer. Summer did piss me off and I was shocked she even went back to Harlem but he was no good either. They started crazy but ended great. Loved this read
I liked the idea of the book but the execution was eh…First I’m not usually one to harp on age in books but they had wayyyyyy too much going on at 18. Just too grown for high school kids. I feel like the author could’ve aged them up to college and it would’ve been fine. I’m here for a being a little toxic here and there for the plot but this was just a little too toxic and messy for me. Summed annoyed me so bad. They played too many games and were lucky they didn’t get hurt. And ora …. Girl please. I feel like it was more messy than erotica. I really hate that this didn’t do it for me.
I decided to try NJ again after long hiatus because her books were all becoming the same. Same plot, same character just different names. With this book nothing has changed. I know she’s folks favorite author but we have to be honest. This book was rushed, has many holes in the plot and overall wasn’t good. Very juvenile and mediocre writing. There is NO growth with her as an author.
Stepped by Nicole Jackson was MESSY, dramatic, and had me glued to the pages from beginning to end. 😭 What starts as two families coming together turns into a complicated situation when Summer and Breeze find themselves fighting feelings that neither of them is prepared to handle. From their constant bickering to the undeniable tension between them, I knew early on that things were about to get real complicated. The chemistry was there from the beginning, but so were the secrets, jealousy, and emotional decisions that kept pushing everything further and further off the rails.
What really kept me invested, though, was the cast surrounding them. Harlem worked my nerves from the moment he stepped on the page because half the time I wanted him to stand up and be the man he claimed to be. 😒 Then there was Ora, who had me side-eyeing her every time she appeared. Some characters just have a gift for showing up and making situations worse, and she definitely fell into that category for me. Meanwhile, Summer was trying to figure out who she was outside of relationships and I loved seeing her chase her dreams as a writer. Breeze, on the other hand, spent a good portion of this book trying to act unbothered when everybody with functioning eyesight could see he was down bad. 😭
Nicole Jackson packed this book with drama, complicated family dynamics, love, heartbreak, jealousy, and enough emotional chaos to keep me turning pages. There were several moments where I wanted to reach through the book and shake multiple characters because what are we DOING?! 😭 But that’s also what made it entertaining. The story constantly had me wondering how everything was going to play out and whether these characters were ever going to get out of their own way. If you like taboo romance, messy relationships, characters that get under your skin, and enough drama to have you talking to the pages, Stepped is definitely worth checking out. This was my first Nicole Jackson read and it definitely won’t be my last.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Nicole knew she was on some BS when the first two questions she ask in her reader discussion list was 1) Did Array handle moving Ricky and Breeze in properly. 2) How do you feel about Ricky and Array's parenting style? Lady why is you playing in my face like this. You can tell these people want were young when they had their kids and want to be their friend... Most notably Array.
Honestly, having this as my second read from the author I knew what to expect. A toxic, messy af time where the FMC is being turned every which way but loose.. Oh and there will undoubtedly be a scene where someone's man or woman is locked out of the house while the partner is getting bussed down.
My word this was A LOT... mainly the second 50% where the turbo jets were on 1000. If I'm being honest the first half wasn't bad, they was just sneaking around being freaked out. That latter part was true NJ style. I really didn't need that description of what happened in NY on the toilet but I guess she figured we needed to be invested. Let me just say Harlem gotta better dumber than a box of rocks to not see what has been in front of his eyes for years. Ora's pick me tendencies make me sick to my stomach. Breeze has anger issues and needs to see someone about that. Lastly Summer girl.... I don't even know if I have the words for you.
I cannot rate this just know I was thoroughly entertained but would not recommend if that makes sense.
As a true fan of Nicole Jackson's books, this has to be the best one yet. Mind you, I've said that about almost all of her books. This was definitely a great read, and it wasn't short like the last few books she's put out. The storyline was great! How the characters evolved from sneaky links, to friends with benefits, the situationship had me on the edge of my seat. It was very relatable if you can relate. Summer and Breeze's relationship has so many Dynamics that it pissed me off at times. The delusion that oral possessed was right on point with chicks these days. Breeze AKA Little Ricky stood ten toes down and wasn't playing about his gal. He was definitely my favorite character.
Me sorprendió muchísimo.
I knew this book was going to be a messy good time based off the description and TikTok reviews but it definitely did not disappoint! I enjoyed the characters and I’m glad they got a happily ever after! I wanted to read more about how she responded to the media slander and ole boy trashing the house but other than that it was wrapped up in a nice bow!! Chefs kiss
Loved that we were introduced to new characters! I enjoy Nicole’s writing style and is always consistent and that’s the reason I keep coming back for more. Your core supporters love your pen. One of few authors that aren’t afraid to give us real life situations and real SPICE not that watered down stuff nowadays!
I'm so glad Array acknowledged she literally put those two in the predicament to become a couple. I really liked the maturity in this story for the teenagers. Ora stayed around too long!! This is a great quick read that wants a little bit more. I didn't want it to end without her having the baby.
Never thought I would ever read a erotica where the main characters are in HIGH SCHOOL. Its given author is definite writing twisted fantasies with children. Hoping that the plot would time lapse to later in life for theCHILDREN but no such luck. Then your attempt to make justify your obsession by labeling it it taboo. Get the help you clearly need
A taboo romance and a good time. This book had me hooked and those 200 pages flew by. This was messy, like really messy as far as relationships go 😂 but it kept me entertained. I’m not a fan of any kind of cheating or cheating adjacent so that part didn’t sit well, but I thoroughly enjoyed this. And I literally died laughing when the dad read is son for filth - died 😂💀
This book was crazyyyy !!! Hey they were not blood so I guess ! But they played too many games for me smh !! && poor Ora thirsty ass smh cause ain’t no way in hell im letting a nigga dog me out like that !
Then I felt sorry for Harlem but was definitely fooled because 4 women at the same time smh that NBA check about to be gone lls !!!
One thing Nicole going to do is write some good ass smut. Another thing she does good is write some toxic couples. Sprinkle in a back stabbing ass friend, a cup of cheating and that's your story. All in all it was a good read but I didn't connect with the characters. I guess that isn't the point since I found it under the erotica category 🤣
Very messy! very toxic! this book was just filled with so much stuff. I’m not gonna lie, I felt like summer was childish and the way she handled Harlem was dead wrong. Also, it was surprising to me that her mom knew what was going on under her roof was just like well you grown. My mama wouldn’t have cared if I was 18 or 21; she wouldn’t let it that rock at all! Definitely a good time.
This book was a definite must read! I read it twice. If she can’t do anything else she can write a forbidden type romance with characters you’re supposed to hate. But end up loving and rooting for! I loved her and Breeze!
Another great read from my favorite author!!! She is definitely creative with that pen! I haven’t slipped up on another author that can match her energy!!!!
I love Ricky and Summer! This was too much love, and energy for some high schoolers. Ain’t know way I’d be cool with all of what they was doing under my roof. Both 18 for you crazies out in this here book world.
Great love story. I have definitely not seen anything like this. I was excited from start to finish. Nicole Jackson is a beast. I have never been disappointed in anything that she has written. Another Excellent and Brilliant book.
So good! The right kind of mess! The characters are young so there’s a lot of room for hiccups. Breeze and Summer had everybody stressed lol. I finished in a day! Very spicy!
Oh this book was chaos! Breeze did not play about Summer. And that Summer had her issues... Breeze too. Overall I enjoyed this book. I'll have to check out more. 3.5 stars
