Very good story

I'm not sure if this is a first literally effort for this author. The story line was unique enough to hold my interest. Character building was good enough to keep me invested. It's worth your time to read.
The only criticism I have is technical. The entire elevator situation (early in the book) needed research. Literally none of it was technically accurate. I mean horribly wrong. But unfortunately even seasoned film makers make elevator mistakes that make me cringe. My point is, when something is that blatantly inaccurate it sets a tone for the reader to wonder what else is wrong in the story. Information is readily available for authors to use that can keep these mistakes at bay.
I didn't remove a star because if I didn't know better, it doesn't interfere with the story holistically.
Get the book, it's worth the read.

An EMP knocks out all electronics in the United States and southern Canada.

Georgianna Fitz tries to return to her father’s self-sufficient cabin in the woods where she grew up, bringing her boyfriend and his family with her.

A few editing errors, like random quotation marks, or extra words or letters.

Contains: Cussing, premarital sexual relations, blood and gore, death.

Strange or impossible quotes:

“I heard the distinctive sound of a rifle being raised and aimed.”
Neither raising nor aiming makes ‘a distinctive’ noise.

“A bullet had gone right through his shoulder, … Jax did her best to stem the flow of blood from Ludo’s arm… She tied a makeshift tourniquet around Ludo’s arm…”
Well, was it shoulder or arm?

Pajamas “from the church” were mentioned before the raid on the church.

EOTWAWKI

EMP. EOTWAWKI. Long story. Disfranchised daughter and father. Cold winter. Diseases play a part, lack of treatment medications. Authoritarian settlement makes life and death orders. Social pressures intense. Long work demands required. Death panel tribunal. Other encampment raids are difficult to repel.

Started Scanning to end at chapter 88... Evil 'commander' of faux military of 500 men.
114 chapters and an epilog - 5 years later at Camp Haven.

Good story

I liked this story because it wasn't too much of anything and just enough of what it was telling. I loved Georgie, she was awesome. I also like that she found Eirien, he really liked George for herself. I liked that the story moves along, has interesting characters, I like that she found her dad. Its just an all around good story. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes stories about survival of disastrous situations like an EMP situation. Good story.

George Fitz is prepared for a total blackout by her father, a reclusive prepper. She grabs her go bag and her fiancé Jacob, and together they endure near-death experiences and relentless survival challenges on their journey back to her father's homestead. This is a fast-paced, exciting read.

Family

I had read this before but really enjoyed it again. There are blood families. And the families you make. Both are what makes our lives full. Think you will like this author's book.

Makes you think.

This was a exciting read. Makes you question your own survival knowledge. The story lines made you hold your breath and cross your fingers for the good guys. The ending was perfect and gave you hope.

Very good

I enjoyed this story very much. The characters were engaging & mostly likeable. Not sure what the cover of the book has to do with the story beyond a return to the past.

Great Book

Different written from female perspective showing her intuition and how her tough childhood made her the guide to the heroes of the book.

Good tale.

It was a little different from most EOTWAWKI stories. It could use an editor to proofread and correct the plot hiccups.
