Jimmy Watson dreamt of retiring to a small farm in the country. After a lifetime of building a successful business, his dream becomes a reality. He has traded in the stress of deadlines for the calm grazing cows in a summer field.
But when Jimmy suddenly becomes plagued with a series of nightmares, he must decide between his peaceful life and a path he cannot yet understand. It is a choice that will eventually lead to the most important question of his which is greater, life or love? Will Jimmy choose tranquility or unimaginable pain?
A well-written tale with deep characters and a solid emotional foundation. A bit slow to get started but that seemed to help build the framework of the plot.
Couldn't put it down - loved the story - and even the tears before I was finished! A wonderful family tale full of love and selflessness. Thank you, Jennifer - and Good Reads!
This is a sweet (though not strongly Christian) story of a dying man living his life to the end and caring for those he loved before he left them. Some editing issues, mainly wrong words, pulled me out of the story occasionally.
I was hesitant to read this novel as it is not in my go to genre. I was pleasantly surprised by its charm and read it in one sitting. I really like how the author chose the title of the novel and worked it into the story.
I received this book as a first read. It's very slow paced. There isn't much action and much of the book just covers quotidien life so it's not the most compelling tale. The characters are well written and authentic. The writing had promise but comes off a bit choppy and could have used some editing. Fans of classic American authors will enjoy this read.
