I love this book and refer to it often. It is a great tool for anyone who had family members who arrived or passed through Victoria, Australia in the early years. Or indeed anyone who has an interest in early Australian history.

As the first of 3 books, Arriving, Marking Time and Making their Mark (all by different authors) each tell a part of the history of the colony of Victoria.

Arriving, describes the earliest indigenous settlers then moves onto others who graced our shores. It outlines many of the immigrant schemes, the way that groups mixed or clustered. This information is useful for family historians looking for other ways to expand their searching. It is also a great social study and a reflection of how our present society developed.
