I am not okay. I repeat: I am not okay. The final Crane Hockey book has officially wrecked me in the best possible way, and I am sitting here wondering what I’m supposed to do with my life now that it’s over.
One Pucking Future is everything I wanted in Finn and Kelsey’s story and somehow still more. The tension? Immaculate. The angst? Painful in the way that makes you cling to every page. And the second-chance romance? Absolutely devastating and beautiful all at once.
Finn Callahan might have built a reputation for being easygoing, but underneath that is a man who has been carrying seven years of hurt, confusion, and unresolved love. And Kelsey? She is just as broken, just as guarded, and just as stuck in the past. Watching these two circle each other, still clearly in love but weighed down by what they think happened… it was torture in the best way.
And listen, I genuinely thought Ellie Wade was about to do us so dirty with Coach. I was yelling. Full-on arguing with the book like it could hear me. The emotional stress? Unmatched. But in true Ellie Wade fashion, everything came together exactly how it needed to, even if she dragged my heart through the mud first.
What absolutely destroyed me was the fact that Finn and Kelsey spent seven years believing the other betrayed them. Seven. Years. All that time lost because of miscommunication and pain that neither of them could bring themselves to confront. It made every interaction between them heavier, sharper, and so much more meaningful.
And then… Tracy. The AUDACITY. I cannot even properly put into words how mad I was. The manipulation, the damage, the ripple effect of it all, it was just unreal. But at the same time, it made the eventual truth hit that much harder. The moment everything unraveled? Perfection.
This book is packed with longing, heartbreak, healing, and that undeniable chemistry that never actually went away. It’s about love that never died, even when it probably should have. It’s about forgiveness, truth, and finally choosing each other after years of being apart.
And as a series finale? It was everything. Emotional, satisfying, and the perfect goodbye to the Crane Hockey world. I’m devastated it’s over, but what a way to end it.
This series is so near and dear to my heart and I am sad its over. Finn and Kelsey were the perfect way to end this series. Coach's daughter and a past relationship that blew up in each other's faces in high school had me gripped. I needed to know what happened all those years ago. The truth was. heartbreaking and the tension and trust issues these two harbored for years was devastating. They hookup in a club in a passion fueled rage that was so hot i couldn't wait until they figured there past out! Catching up with the Cranes was as always so much fun and in true Ellie fashion she brought the emotions and the spice. I can't wait to see what she gives us next.
What a great way to end this incredible series! Kelsey and Finn’s story had everything I love in the “forbidden- coach’s daughter” trope. I’m sad to see the Crane Hockey Family end but I know whatever Ellie comes up with next will be amazing too!
