Wolf Gunnar writes immersive, unflinching dark fiction that pushes readers to the edge of their comfort and into places they didn’t know they craved. Known for blending psychological terror with sensual intensity, Gunnar’s stories strip characters bare, exploring obsession, dominance, and the thin line between desire and destruction.
When not writing, he is building, creating, and plotting the next story that will leave readers breathless, unsettled, and wanting more.
What I loved most is the vibe that love doesn’t always need a grand plan or destiny to work. Sometimes, a total mistake is exactly what you need, as long as you're brave enough to roll with it. It’s funny, super short, and just a really sweet way to spend an afternoon.
My cheeks actually hurt by the end of this because I spent the whole time grinning and laughing. At just about 100 pages, this novella is pure fun. I don’t hand out five stars to short reads often, but this one caught me completely off guard in the best way.
It gives us a broody, burned-out Cupid, a hyper-controlled FMC who clings to routine, and an MMC who treats structure like a rumor. Maggie and Jack were never meant to match. Their compatibility barely registers. But when a tipsy Cupid decides to play rebel, chaos steps in.
This delivered one of my favorite meet-cutes ever, not sugary or cinematic, but strange, relentless, and ridiculously funny. I adored Jack. He’s witty, a little doomed, and entirely charming while fate drags him around by the collar.
Short, sharp, and laugh-out-loud funny. It felt complete, satisfying, and just the right kind of unhinged.
I was after a short little novella to read between my heavier reads and this was just perfect!
It's a really cute and quick read with some banter thrown in and I love Cupid so much... he hates his job and it shows 🤣🤣
The amount of times I messaged Wolf about Maggie ... she is literally me ☠️ I love being able to relate to characters 🤣
I really liked the concept of this story... a bit of a twist on Cupid and love

Have you heard the one about Cupid walking into a bar?
No?
One wrong arrow. One bad idea. Two people who definitely weren’t part of the plan. Turns out love doesn’t need destiny, just a mistake and the nerve to lean into it.Have you heard the one about Cupid walking into a bar?
📖100 page Novella 🫑No spice rom-com 🤭 smile and kick your feet banter
Wolf Gunnar has done it again! This meet-cute is drastically different from his other work that I've enjoyed; however, I enjoyed this one just has much! Wolf has such a way with words. I devoured this. I could not put this down and I didn't want to.
I couldn't stop smiling. Cupid's character is comedic genius. Chapter 1 will have you so hooked.
“You made faces,” he says. “I have a face,” I reply. “It does things.”
😅
This was such a wonderful surprise release from Wolf! Get it!
This story follows the fallout of a misfired arrow and the unexpected love that grows from it. When Cupid makes a mistake, fate and choice collide in a clever, heartfelt way.
I follow Wolf Gunnar on Instagram and already knew from his posts that he’s a fabulous writer. I’ve seen his work and wanted to give this one a read—and it did not disappoint. Cupid’s dry sense of humor had me tickled throughout. Clever, charming, and heartfelt.
This novella was hysterical!! It had me laughing from start to finish. I loved how cynical Cupid was, and how he was just completely fed up with his job. Jack had me dying every time he talked to or about his plant🪴 The way he just kind of went with the flow even though Cupid’s meddling definitely was not his, nor Maggie’s style, was sweet to read. There was no insta-love, just a willingness to try and see where it took them.
If you’re looking for a quick, hilarious read about two people just trying to find their way while messing with the plans of the universe, then definitely give this one a read.
Currently on pause but Maggie, Jack, and Cupid are hilarious!! Quote I love:❤️
lol 😂 Cupid: “There is a specific sound the universe makes when you have officially messed up beyond the point of graceful recovery. It is not thunder. It is not a scream. It is the gentle, disappointed hum of a system updating a spreadsheet in real time while making direct eye contact with your soul. I hear that sound exactly three seconds after Maggie Collins storms out of the pharmacy like she is fleeing an active crime scene and Jack Turner follows her with the resigned posture of a man who just realized curiosity has a monthly payment plan. “Oh no,” I whisper, hovering invisibly above aisle six. This was not the plan. To be clear, there was never a good plan. There was a loose intention, a mild grudge, and alcohol. But this, this sharp, sparking friction between them, this immediate chemistry that feels like two magnets slamming together the wrong way.”
This is definitely a fun read. I loved that Jack and Maggie were so different and yet ended up being perfect for each other. All characters in the story were very likable. I am a big time romance reader and there wasn’t much romance in the story at all but somehow this really worked for me. Really liked it and definitely recommend.
It was cute but nothing to rave about. Slightly repetitive in her "anger" with control. The characters were slightly narrow, not quite flat but meh imo. The idea with cupid was there but "a little off it's mark"
