Born and raised in California, Cassandra Diviak loves stories more than life.

When her mother gifted her a Greek mythology atlas, her love of reading jumpstarted her interest in writing. As a child with severe ADHD, Diviak would consume a book a day and start to imagine stories of her own.

Between the schoolyard at recess and the quiet lunch table during the lunch hour, Diviak wrote stories starting at age 8. She had dreams of becoming the next big thing in writing.

For years, she honed her craft with plenty of practice. Everything she learned about writing came from reading and doing. Self-taught, she didn't take her first creative writing course until she was 19 and in college.

During the 2020 pandemic, a professor had convinced Diviak to try her hand at Nanowrimo with a set of characters she'd been holding on to for a while. After a successful draft, completed in 6 months, Diviak set out to become an indie author.

Since her debut novel, published in October 2021, Diviak has continued to write stories in several romance genres. Although she has lived many lives, writing remains a fixture in her world.

When she's not writing, Diviak is likely obtaining a college degree. She has a Bachelor's in Political Science with a minor in gender studies and is in the process of getting a JD from a Los Angeles-based law school.

BETA REVIEW:

I absolutely adored Harper and Chance’s story. From the very first chapter, it was clear that Harper was going to be one of those FMC’s that I could truly get behind. It was clear that she’d been wronged in the past, and this was her opportunity to gain back the life that she’d lost from that experience.

Cass’ writing style was incredible. I think that the way she wrote both Harper and Chance really added to the entire story. The tiniest details showed so many things in their relationship and how Harper was healing from her past.

I love it when a book can make me laugh, cry, and feel all the things. CHFL definitely did that. It was such a rollercoaster. There were moments when my jaw was on the floor, moments where I was laughing so hard my insides hurt, and wholesome moments between our main characters but also the entire cast of Perfect on Paper.

CHFL is the perfect beachy, summer read, full of yearning slow burn romance and sizzling drama so hot you’ll be squealing.

First and foremost, thank you to Ever After PR for the eARC in exchange for my honest review. I was really excited for this one because of the reality show concept due to my obession with Love Island.
While not an exact copy, Perfect on Paper is a reality show where the contestants are matched beforehand due to their personalities and beliefs, tasked with perservering through challenges over the following 10 weeks.
Overall, this was very enjoyable and I enjoyed that Perfect on Paper kept the sense of reality shows being a social experiment, but also was uniquie in that this one is not necessarily the same as any reality dating shows that are currently ongoing. The author also does a great job of pointing out the problematic side of reality TV shows as well, which made it feel much more realistic.
Since this story is told through Harper's perspective you get a great idea of what she is internally going through at the time of the start of the story and her reasoning and subsequent return to Perfect On Paper. However, my one issue is that I had trouble feeling any real connection or chemistry between Chance and Harper until after one of the weekly challenges that "swaps" them away from each other for a week. I'm sure this was partially intentional, as they are both realizing how much they care about each other, however there was no chemistry there for me until after the aforementioned point in the story. After this point where they are "un-swapped" it was FIVE STAR MATERIAL! Their connection comes to light and their chemisty was CLEAR. and the spice was OFF THE CHARTS good!!
All in all, while it was a slow start, I LOVED the concept and watching how CHance and Harper's relationship grow after around 1/3 in was just LOVELY. It is absolutely worth a read!
I will likely be re-reading this when Love Island ends bc I will miss it and this was the closest I got to what I love so much about Love Island.

Thank you to EverAfter PR and the author for an advance copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

While I’m normally not a reality show watcher, I will eat it up when someone else does a play-by-play. Enter our reality show: Perfect on Paper. Harper is our FMC who got a villain edit on the show years ago, and the harassment as a result of the show drove her to basically become a hermit. Chance is our MMC who got a villain edit in his own season. When a nasty tell-all comes out about one of the producers, they both get invited back for possible redemption and maybe even love.

They are paired together, and though they start a little rocky, they quickly realize they’re in this thing together, whether they come out as friends or something more. The rest of the cast was fun, and the off-page producers were infuriating. How DARE they bring drama into the show by bringing back old winners (and exes)???

As the weeks go on, Harper and Chance find a routine that’s broken up when they have to spend a week with another contestant. When they come back together, it’s spicy time! The way these two communicated with one another, even with cameras running, because they’d both been done dirty in the past, was really refreshing.

Beach read? ✅ Two MCs who need a break? ✅ Fun, low stakes, low angst for the MCs? ✅ Check this out for a summer read!

Literally that island reality dating show everyone tunes in for constantly, including me, in book form! However, you only focus on one couple for the most part. You get smatterings of the others and obviously their fates are all revealed at the conclusion of the show, but for the most part you follow Chance and Harper (from her POV). It's not highly volatile and mostly moves through a lot of inner growth things with a few smatterings of drama thrown in here and there to keep you entertained but nothing like the world is ending. This was a good sweet beach read for anyone looking to just curl up with a quick read in a beach chair with a drink and the sun.

This was a really cute book. I read it in one sitting. Definitely a good summer read. ☀️

It follows Harper and Chance on a reality television setting. They were both contestants on previous shows and went through their own ordeals on their seasons.

They're now back, to hopefully find love once again; and face obstacles from the past to be able to move on for the future.

I liked how sweet Chance was with Harper throughout the book and felt the genuine connection between them. 💛

This is my 2nd reality tv show book for this year, and I think I'm loving this twist. Harper (FMC) became a recluse/hermit after the backlash of being on a romance reality tv show that made her an absolute villain, after 5 years she takes a risk to set the record straight and goes back for a new season. Twists, turns, and show biz occur and our girl navigates it all with the poise, all the while still hoping to find love Enter Chance, OMG the mystery! I was begging the whole book to learn more about this man. I do suggest being mostly emotionally stable prior to starting because I was processing and healing along with Harper.

arc review !!

This is a great summer read perfect for fans of Love Island!

I loved the plot of the dating show and it was easy to keep track of how it worked. The characters were great, with Harper and Chance having their “redemption arcs” from their seasons.

Overall, it was an insanely cute book and I definitely recommend!

Thank you to Cassandra Diviak for the opportunity!!

I have decided to DNF this book. Sad about it because the writing style is good. Very descriptive. My issue is that there are too many gap days. We don’t actually get to see much of the main characters interacting and getting to read about it. We are just told. I need to see the chemistry building, not be told about it.

Came Here for Love by Cassandra Diviak 💜🎬

4 - 4.25

First of all, thank you to the author for the ARC 🫶

This is the first time I’ve read a romance with this kind of reality TV vibe, a bit like Love Island, and I really enjoyed it.

The main characters were amazing, I had such a great time with them, even if I have to admit I wouldn’t have said no to a few more pages at the end 🫣🫣

This was giving married at first site meets love island and i was here for it!

Harper was a great FMC. She had all the lovable quirks and traits I look for in a lead, including the scorned by a past love trope. Chance was also a character who had no flaws besides his name - I kept calling him Chase 😂

Overall, Came Here for Love is a quick and easy-to-read romance that had all the fluffy feels and a healthy amount of spice.

Thank you Ever After PR for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.
