For nearly thirty years, Caitlin O’Malley has lived by rules she never chose. The daughter of a feared Irish mob boss, the sister of Boston’s kingpin, and the wife of a man she never loved. One reckless night was meant to be her only act of rebellion. Instead, it bound her forever to the one man she was never allowed to want.
Cian McCarthy has spent a lifetime watching the woman he loves from the shadows. Loyal soldier. Trusted strategist. Silent protector. He walked away once and paid for it every day after. Now secrets long buried are clawing their way to the surface, and the truth could tear their world apart.
When a hidden past resurfaces—marked by betrayal, violence, and a daughter he was never meant to claim—the fragile balance that holds the family together begins to crack. As enemies close in and loyalties are tested, Caitlin and Cian must decide whether love is worth the cost… or if some sins can never be forgiven. In a world ruled by blood, power, and silence, choosing each other could mean losing everything. But walking away might destroy them both.
Thks one unfortunately was just ok. We got a lot of repeat information from past books. I didn't think we really learned all that much new stuff. I'm also a person that doesn't like jumping back and firth between past and present. I don't think I really would of missed much if I had skipped this book all together. Sorry.
He loved her in silence. For decades. And when he finally steps out of the shadows… it’s devastating.
Ann Silver is not just making a name for herself — she’s carving it into the dark romance world in blood and loyalty. With Cian, the second in her Irish Mob series, she doesn’t just raise the stakes… she tightens them.
For nearly thirty years, Caitlin O’Malley has lived inside a cage built by men — Feared mob boss father. Boston kingpin brother. A husband she never loved.
And then there’s Cian McCarthy. The loyal soldier. The strategist. The silent protector.
The man who loved her enough to walk away once… and suffered for it every single day after. This story is the perfect collision of dark devotion and emotional ache. Loyalty laced with pain. Desire buried under decades of restraint. The kind of slow-burn tension that feels like a match struck in gasoline.
I’ve been rooting for Cian and Caty since Duncan’s story — watching the thread of their connection slowly tighten. But learning that their love has lived beneath the surface for decades? That emotional weight hit hard. This wasn’t just romance. It was history. It was sacrifice. It was unfinished business finally demanding to be seen. And the secrets?
No one feels safe anymore. The truths being revealed are cracking this world wide open — and I am here for every dangerous second of it. Ann Silver’s expansion of Rebecca Joyce’s crossover universe has been seamless and powerful. The world-building is layered, interconnected, and deliciously tense.
If you love: 🥀 Decades-long pining 🔥 Irish mob loyalty 🖤 Shadowed protectors 💔 Emotional intensity with sharp edges Cian will absolutely own you.
Wow what a read!!! Ann has out done herself again with another spectacular read. This can be read as a stand alone but I wouldn't recommend it because all of Ann's books tie into each other and it will give you the best understanding of the events.

I knew before I even opened Cian by Ann Silver that it was going to be a five-star read, and I was absolutely right.
I’ve been (impatiently!) waiting to get my hands on Cian’s story ever since we were given those tantalizing glimpses of him in the previous books. Finally diving into his full journey was everything I hoped it would be and more.
As with all of Ann Silver’s books, this one delivers on every front: long-buried secrets, unexpected family connections, shocking revelations, and of course, murder and emotional turmoil woven seamlessly throughout. It’s become her signature blend, and she executes it flawlessly every single time. The pacing was spot on — never rushed, never dragging, just a perfectly measured unfolding of twists and turns that kept me completely hooked.
What continues to amaze me is how consistent her world-building remains despite all the intricate layers she adds with each installment. Nothing feels out of place. Every reveal fits.
And Cian and Caitlyn, they are absolutely perfect for each other. My heart genuinely ached for the years they spent apart, secretly loving each other as fiercely as they did. That quiet, enduring love made their story all the more powerful and emotional.
Another outstanding addition to the series, and as always, I am already eagerly (and impatiently!) awaiting the next book.
“Cian” by Ann Silver delivers exactly what fans of dark mafia romance look for—powerful characters, intense chemistry, and a story filled with danger, loyalty, and emotional depth.
Cian is a commanding presence from the very beginning. He’s ruthless when he needs to be, shaped by the brutal realities of the world he lives in, but there’s also a deeper layer to him that slowly unfolds throughout the story. Ann Silver does a great job of balancing his hardened exterior with the moments that reveal his loyalty and protectiveness.
The relationship at the center of the story builds through tension, trust issues, and emotional conflict, making the characters' connection feel authentic and earned. The chemistry is strong, and the push-and-pull between power and vulnerability keeps the story engaging from start to finish.
Silver’s writing keeps the pacing steady while still allowing room for character development and emotional moments. The mafia setting adds high stakes and constant tension, while the heart of the story lies in the evolving relationship between the characters.
If you enjoy dark mafia romance with strong alpha characters, emotional intensity, and a storyline that keeps you turning the pages, Cian is definitely worth picking up.
Ann Silver once again proves she knows how to deliver a gripping romance set in a dangerous world.
Finally a book about an older in life couple. Cian and Caity have fought and hidden their love for each other for almost 30 yrs. This book is a love story in the making and with all the ups and downs they have to go fight and go through to finally get their happy ending. The twists and turns that Cian and Caity must navigate break my heart as these two have had to be apart for so long. They just can’t catch a break. I cried, laughed and yelled at both of them to fight harder for each other. So many pressures from all angles coming at them. This is my favorite book of Ann’s as my heart broke for this couple. I’m so glad they finally get to be together. Not many authors write about later in life couples and as I am 54 it’s wonderful to be able to read a book that’s about a couple my age. Thank you Ann for another fantastic book. I highly recommend to everyone who thinks about reading this book to do so. You won’t regret it. I received this book to read from the author.
Caity was born a mafia princess. She always did what was expected of her, including who she was to marry. But she had a secret. She has loved Cian as long as she could remember. Cian loved Caity, but could never have her. She was his boss's daughter and his best friend's sister. A chance encounter at a bar led to one unforgettable night that left them with more than memories. Now, almost 30 years later, Caity's dad is dead, her husband is missing, and her secret is about to be exposed. With old enemies circling, and skeletons dancing out of the closet at every turn, can Cian and Caity find their way back to each other, and keep their daughter, the one he always loved but could never claim, safe? Settle in, get comfortable, and buckle up, butterrcup, because this is one heck of a roller coaster ride. And I LOVED every minute of it!
Book 2 in the Irish Mob Of Boston series is Cian and Caitlin's story and HOLY HADES what a steamy little affair this is. This couple is over the top HOT🔥🥵! Their journey is gritty, intense, dramatic and consuming. It's a fantastic layer in life, second chance story that completely overtook me the second I opened the book. Nothing with this author, her stories or her characters is ever simple. She continuously brings us journeys that take over everything until we reach the end. This Irish Mob series is absolutely 100% standalone reads that can be completely enjoyed on their own BUT if you haven't read the interconnected series Silver Shadows MC, please do. There's really everything to love about these books!
There’s something about an Ann Silver release landing on my Kindle at 12:00 a.m. that makes sleep feel optional. I always promise myself I’ll just peek at the opening chapter, and I always end up fully immersed instead. Cian was no exception. Silver’s characters feel lived‑in and real, and this time the emotional layers are even more nuanced — tender, complicated, and beautifully human. What sets this story apart is its focus on characters shaped by years of responsibility, loss, and growth. Their choices carry weight, their emotions echo, and their journey feels profoundly authentic. It’s the kind of story that stays with you long after the final page — the perfect companion for a sleepless night.
I loved diving into the Irish Mob with Sal, Duncan, Mac and Cian. Their camaraderie is fun and you really get an idea of the tight friendship between them.
Cian has been in love with Caity for decades and has had to watch from the sidelines until one night that changes things but not right away…
Caity never had the ability to choose her own life path. Married to a man she didn’t choose she takes matters in her own hands one night.
I’ve loved this book because it’s not often main characters are older and seeing the love they had for each other and what they had to overcome to come together at an older age was great.
This book ties up some loose ends so don’t miss it!
Loved it, like everything Ann writes I was sucked in. Caity’s life has not been easy and she’s had no choice in her future, when she was young. So she took a night for herself to have something no someone she’s always loved. That night gave her one of her greatest gifts. Fast forward to the present now that Caity is free he is claiming his woman. There is some issues to work through and truths to be learned. Some that might be life changing, all in all I loved reading Cian and Caity’s story. Certain parts touched my heart in many ways and as always, some truths were revealed but also there was some shocks. I can’t wait to read the next book in the Ann Silver and Rebecca Joyce worlds.
Caity, daughter of an Irish mob boss, is forced into an arranged, loveless, lonely marriage. One night of rebellion finds her in the arms of the man she has crushed on for years.
Now almost 30 years later, Caity and her daughter Maddie are in Boston, close to Cian who has never stopped loving her. The road to a second chance is riddled with bumps and potholes, layer upon layer of secrets, suspense and revelations. Evil never far away.
Another brilliant story from Ann’s Boston Mafia intertwined with Silver Shadows MC in Diamond Creek. I can’t wait patiently enough to see how events unfold.
Cian is a second chance at love story. I liked that this book wasn’t as gritty as some of the previous ones. Sometimes you need a bit of a palate cleanser with all the drama from the rest of MC/Mafia. Honestly, there have been so many twists throughout these books that just when you think you’ve got it somewhat figured out, bam…something else happens. I don’t usually quote books but I think this line sums it up perfectly “This shit was so twisted and convoluted, I felt like I needed to set up a fucking murder board in my office to keep everything straight.” Anyway, i really enjoyed reading and can’t wait for the next edition to this crazy saga.
I flew through Cian. The story was face paced, suspenseful and answered so many questions I had after reading King.
This book is an epic second chance romance that was 30 years in the making. And because of all the secrets and lies, was close to never happening. There were parts of this story where I held my breath for chapters at a time. Some of the bombshell that were dropped, blew my mind.
And that is what I love about this whole Ann Silver universe. I love the characters, the stories and the interconnections between them all. I really need to create a family tree at this point.
Caitlin life was a deck of cards stacked against her in the criminal world, but one night of rebellion with Cian brought her daughter into the world, one she had to share with a husband she didnt love and watch Cian leave her behind only he was neverly truly gone, and now shes a widow and secrets begin to unravel at pace but will these two get a second chance? Or will their enemies close in to soon! Well written engaging, info filled, suspense, desires, drama, trauma, action and more a great addition to the series
Second chance romance for Cian and Sal’s sister Caity. After finding out he is the father of Caity’s daughter, Maddie who he has loved and adored for nearly 30years because she was Caits and he wished she was his . He’s torn between being thankful and elated that Maddie is his daughter, hating her mother for lying when he asked her when she was pregnant and again when she was born, for letting Nolan Kelley raise her and loving her, wanting to finally have both his woman and daughter openly, claiming them for all the world to know. Sal’s mad at him and her, Maddie won’t talk to her mum not just for the lie but because the man she thought was her dad is the reason her husband is dead and her son is being raised by his aunt and her husband. As expected from Ann some questions are answered, information i didn’t know I needed and of course some new questions .. I’m totally here for it
Cain and Caity’s story is a second chance romance, secrets are revealed, some questions are answered, more questions appear, this is an intense, emotional, steamy mafia romance. Cian has been in love with Caity for years but she married the man she was promised to, they had a single night together and now that she’s no longer married he decides it time to claim her as his own. It’s a rocky road to their happily ever after with all the feels involved but it’s so worth it. Highly recommend this author, book and series to everyone ❤️🖤
Holly molley this series keeps getting better and better, Cain and Caitlin the way they had to hide what they felt about each other. I can’t get enough of the secrets and how they both find a way to move forward. Loved the other characters from different books , Sinclair always up to his ways can’t wait for his story. Man I was wth is happening because this has so much going on and it’s awesome 👏. The fact that my inner thoughts were oh no they didn’t Cain and Caitlin wow talk about a woman being strong and furious lol and the alpha male was pudding for me . Can’t wait for the next one .
I really enjoyed this story! Cian and Caity were destined to be together, it just took awhile for them to get their chance! They'd both secretly loved each other for years but being the mob bosses daughter meant Caity didn't get a choice in any of her life decisions. The bickering between them is hilarious. I love that after everything Caity has been through she hasn't lost her spunk. So many family secrets come out in this book! More pieces falling into place. We also get introduced to some new characters and hints at some other stories to come! I'm excited to see what's next!
Can and Caity, were always in love with each other. But the family way was more important to her father. After years of not being together both finally find the happiness that they were both waiting on. Only a woman steps in to claim what Can and Caity had made some 30 years ago.
At first the book wasn't holding !y attention because of the back story length but after about 15 chapters in the story finally made sense and the book picked up a bit. The plot and characters worked wonderful together in the story.
Cian’s been in love with Caity since forever. Caity’s been owned by family obligation since forever. After years apart, one night cracks the door open, but they still have to walk through it. The Irish Mob boys deliver danger, laughs, and that unbreakable bond that makes you believe in found family. Cian’s devotion? Devastating. Caity taking her life back? Hell yes. I loved that they’re older. That the scars are earned. That the love had to survive time, duty, and bad decisions to win.
I love everything Ann Silver writes but Cian touched my heart because he deserves it all and Caity is his everything, I absolutely loved their story ❤️❤️❤️ Another book you just can’t put down, a definite page turner and very entertaining. Together Ann and Rebecca Joyce keep me emotionally bound to their joined series, I’m always needing the next one, love their writing. 100% recommend this book to everyone ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ you will not be disappointed 😎🖤
Caitlyn was a mafia princess. She did what she was told and didn’t complain about it. But a one night stand with the love of her life Cian makes secrets. Secrets have a way of destroying people. Cian also has secrets. Ones he doesn’t know about. But somehow they have all come together to create a storm of epic proportions that requires a lot of manpower to figure out.
I loved reading this book! Caity and Cian deserved their happiness! I really loved watching Sal, Duncan, Mac, an Cian relationship. I love the brotherly families that are built when everyone feels like they have no one! So many secrets are exposed, and more players are revealed. As always more questions are always laid. But I’m so excited to see where alll it goes!! You will never be disappointed ☺️☺️
Wow, this story was awesome. Book 2 in the Irish Mob Of Boston series is Cian and Caitlin's story and Good Golly miss Molly what a steamy and intense story this is. These 2 have been in love for decades and finally get their time. Loved that this author has a varity of ages for her Characters and love the threads that run through them all!
This series just keeps getting more twisted and more interesting. You never know what to expect and you will get more information and then you will get more confused about everything. This book was very hard to put down. Don't try and start this late unless you have the time to finish it. I am patiently waiting for the next book.
Not only do we get an understanding of what Cian and Caity went through to get to their happily ever after. We learn more of the ever evolving world that Ann and Rebecca wrote about including the on going ending of anticipating what is going to come next. Also the tickle of the possibility of one maybe two new branches being added to the ever going web.
He let the most important person go because he thought it was the right thing to do in the past. But, he never let her out of his sight. This writer draws you in and doesn't let you go until the last page.
Omg!! Could someone please put this books end with a cliff hanger I would wait a few to be released before starting it. Loved this book but like Joyce's book you have more questions than answers
