drawn out ...
This was so wordy, I tuned in for a Minatour story and got something entirely different. The time line was straight forward but certain parts bounced all over the place. I had to go and reread repeatedly and it still wasn't clear. Continuity was lacking.. happy for the HEA even though it came with a warning ao the story continues .. I guess.

The next time I walk through heavy fog, I wish to enter a magical cozy town. With my luck, I'll end up in a horror movie situation instead.
This book had coziness, mystery and a nice measure of spice. Both MC's were mentally mature adults [maybe too mature/wise]. The relationship was equal. The siren-minotaur link was a creative idea (although I did have a few questions about Ellie's grandma and Ellie's parents). And there were plenty of baking scenes and delicious pastries.
The sex scenes were also delightfully long, detailed and beautifully powerful. No cringe dirty talking required (I don't mind dirty talk, but sometimes it can be laughable). The writing was very wordy, but eloquent.
But I wonder...why didn't Vic just take/destroy the recipe binder or Rose's journal if the bakery had been unlocked after Rose's passing? That would be easy sabotage.
And this is personal taste: the novel had less humor or bantering which meant that I needed a bit more effort to stay focused. I was hoping to laugh out loud or snicker on occasion.
I did read the prequel novella before this. And that got me in the mood for more Mist Hollow monsters. Maybe I'm wrong, but I kept thinking that the town events in the prequel didn't seem to match with book 1's timeline. I did wish the prequel was a longer book, and that the prequel couple (Finn and Rae) would have been present in book 1. I rarely come across aquatic creatures/shifters like Finn as love interests in romance. Hmm..suddenly Rikuo/Aulbath from Darkstalkers videogame popped up in my head. He's a curiously attractive fishman.
The ending was cute. I enjoyed the humans and non-humans coming together. The MMC's for the next two books were very distinguishable.
**Edit: I lowered my rating from 4 to 3. I can't stop thinking about how the characters in the cover art of all the books have very strange body proportions like the lower body being very short. And the chronological order of the prequel not matching up with book 1. And I initially thought I wanted to keep reading the series, but I haven't been motivated to open book 2 especially since I've encountered other books that entertained me more with vibrant writing. I'm not looking forward to the long-winded prose and lack of humor. Once was enough. I didn't want to admit that I felt like something was off about the writing style..or it felt similar to some other indie authors on Amazon. It wasn't a terrible book for me, the ideas were great, and the characters weren't annoying. Maybe the series gets better. But overall, the story wasn't charming enough.**

Had to DNF because this book was clearly written by AI. So disappointing given how hard independent authors work. The writing was an absolute give away that artificial intelligence was involved. Then add in the continuity errors and the fact that they released 5 books in less than 4 months all with a different version of the same cover. Do not waste your time.

This contains a decent idea. Combines some stuff that have been done before but in a slightly new configuration, I guess. I can't definitively say that this idea was run through AI, turned into a book, and published because I didn't witness the process of its creation.
What I can say, however, is that little time or care went into the writing. The story is fine if you merely glance at it. But sit down to read? Yikes. Every other description is self-contradictory, non-sensical or unsettlingly odd. There are a few recognizable plot-points but the path between them reads like detached filler.
The love story:
2 touch-starved adults happen to end up working in close proximity. They have a lot of sexual chemistry. They use their free will to act on this chemistry. They fall in love and live happily ever after. Yes. It really is that straightforward.
The fantasy story:
(What worlds? Why is there a membrane? *shrugs*)
*insert ominous music*
*eyeroll*
Grandma left behind her diary, that conveniently tells MC everything she needs to know about the fantastical.
Grandma left behind her recipe book that was conveniently never stolen, even though the bakery was left abandoned for 2 years and her recipes were famous in town.
Grandma left behind magical jewelry that hums. Also conveniently not stolen.
Oh, and that cover! She's described as barely reaching his chest....
Antagonist plot:
This tiny town has 2 bakeries. The other bakery is owned by some fancy pants who wants to be the last baker standing. He lies, sabotages etc etc but doesn't win cuz love and friendship trumps all. Or, something. Part of his sabotage involves doing *stuff* (we're never given more info on this) that weakens the magical fog-membrane that's the sole thing protecting the village from monsters.

This book started off interesting then it fell about half way through. I was so fucking bored I needed to sit up at my kitchen table to force myself to finish it. Fuck you Vance and but Theo and Ellie’s love story was rushed.

April 27, 2026Couldn’t finish this one due to my suspicions. The title doesn’t exactly make sense, but I guessed it might be an ESL thing so I decided to give it a go. There is significant repetition a couple of times, and the Minotaur folds dough for muffins? If this was generated, the person appears not to have done basic editing to cover their tracks. Checking out the publishing dates of all of the books only increased my suspicions. It’s a real shame because this was a very cute concept! This either needs some heavy editing that wasn’t done before if it was written by a person, or to be written by a person.

Ellie Harper finds herself in the small coastal town of Mist Hollow trying to start her life over. She's inherited her grandmother's bakery and is determined to make it work. She hires a handsome minotaur named Theo Stormhoof, and the two of them find something more in the kitchen than just similar work ethics. Yet a rival wants to put Ellie out of business and he'll stop at nothing, even if it means weakening the veil between worlds, and putting everyone in danger.
This is the first book in the cozy romantasy series, Mist Hollow Monsters. It's sweet and easy to read and immensely steamy. Nothing is stopping Ellie from pushing forward and getting what she wants. She's smart and strong, and she won't be bullied by Vic Vance. The tension between her and Theo is hotter than her bakery's ovens. I would have liked more lore of what was going on, but the fact the two of them must work together to protect the town is wonderful.

A mystery monster Romances
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 Stars
This was such a fun mystery monster romance, and honestly, the mystery ended up gripping me even more than the romance itself.
Ellie arrives in Mist Hollow after inheriting her grandmother Rosie's bakery. The building is run-down, dilapidated, and most people seem to think reopening it is a waste of time. Naturally, Ellie takes that as a challenge.
Armed with her grandmother's recipe book and a determination to make the bakery thrive again, she sets to work rebuilding both the shop and her life.
Enter Theo.
Theo is a Minotaur hiding from his past and, more specifically, from the clan he left behind. He attempts to disguise himself with a woolly hat that does absolutely nothing to hide the fact that he is enormous. We're talking horns-nearly-touching-the-ceiling enormous.
The attraction between Ellie and Theo is obvious from the start, but for me, the real star of this book was the mystery surrounding the fog.
The fog creeps through the town like a living thing. It whispers, moves with purpose, and seems tied to something far older and more dangerous than anyone realises. Every time the story returned to the fog, I was completely hooked. I needed to know what it was, where it came from, and what was hiding beyond it.
As the story unfolds, Ellie discovers she isn't entirely human. Her grandmother's secrets reveal a connection to sirens, and suddenly her voice, her heritage, and even the fog itself begin to make sense. I loved this aspect of the story and thought it added a unique layer to the romance.
Now for the spice.
This is where my rating dropped slightly.
The scenes themselves weren't badly written, and I don't have any issue with monster romance being imaginative. However, I found myself struggling with the physical logistics of Theo's size compared to Ellie's. My brain kept getting caught on the practical side of things, which occasionally pulled me out of the story.
That's entirely a personal preference, especially as I'm still relatively new to monster romance. Other readers may not have the same issue at all.
I also found myself wanting a little more emotional tenderness after some of the intimate scenes. A few quieter moments between Ellie and Theo afterwards would have helped strengthen the emotional connection for me.
That said, none of this stopped me from enjoying the book.
I loved the bakery setting, I loved Theo, and I especially loved the mystery surrounding the fog. The ending wrapped up enough to feel satisfying while still leaving threads open for future books.
I do wish a few plot points had received more resolution. The rival baker never quite got the comeuppance I was hoping for, and Theo's clan remained more of a looming threat than an active one. Both felt like they had room for further development.
Overall, this was an engaging, imaginative monster romance with a mystery that kept me turning the pages. I'll definitely be continuing the series when my budget allows because I need to know what happens next with that fog.
And honestly? The fog may have stolen the entire book for me.

There's a lot to really love about this dreamy, spicy fantasy/contemporary romance.
First, the writing is fine. Intelligent, smooth, highly descriptive, and ocassionally humorous. It's good writing. The fantasy elements got stronger as the story progressed, which may or may not be good depending on your view. I liked that. Although I did feel the fantasy part was a little less clear. Each of the leads had a backstory thst stayed fairly general. I would have preferred a little more info and stronger world building. For example, I get thst the town is small and coastal. But I'd like to know more about the appearance of the monsters who now quietly populate many places, this one included. There are a couple of characters I would have liked to know more about, particularly the Captain.
I didn't care for the lack of intel about the villian. Yes, I know there's a second volume to this story. But I think the villian should be better ID'd in this book. There's barely anything about him-his motivation, his abilities, and what happened to him after the big event. There's nothing on that at all. I truly despise a villain that seems to walk away unscathed repeatedly or doesn't have a clear ending. And I really dislike having to read another book to find out his fate. That better be clear in the second book or I'll not be reading any further in the series. Bad guys that hang on and on are a huge pet peeve.

Despite some mixed popular opinion, I actually really loved this story! Books in this subgenre are meant to be fun, entertaining, and spicy, and this one delivered on every single front—leaving me with tons of fantastic Kindle highlights and such a cute, thoroughly satisfying reading experience that I would definitely read again.
My Reactions & Emotions
Rich, Immersive Lore: I was delightfully surprised by the depth and development of the world's lore; it gave the story a much stronger backbone than expected.
A Top-Tier Relationship Progression: Watching their connection evolve was so satisfying. The transition from coworkers to lovers, to true defenders, and essentially partners in every sense of the word felt earnest, sweet, and incredibly passionate.
A Fun, Spicy Escape: The spicy scenes were absolute perfection, balancing out the fun, cozy tone of the book seamlessly.
Great Wrap-Up: While cliffhanger hints can sometimes be a downside, here it just felt like a soft possibility rather than a push. Their arc felt so complete and lovely on its own!

Subplot Motivation: The sabotage plot line didn't quite make logical sense if you overthink it, but for a story designed to be a fun, sweet, and spicy joyride, it didn't take away from my overall enjoyment at all.

This is a pretty sweet story between a siren and a minotaur.
Ellie quits her souless job and returns to her grandmas home after her grandma passes away.
Theo is a minotaur barker who left his clan and is looking for solitude. Helping Ellie get her grandma's bakery back up and running seems like the perfect place to do it.
Even though the kitchen is ancient, the rooms are too small and he has to carefully maneuver around to not break things
Turns out the town they land in is a mythical town holding back the creatures of the deep beyond the mist as well as a rival bakery owner just causing all sorts of issues.
Ellie finds out she is a siren and her grandma before her was holding back the monsters by singing. But she needs her ground in order to really come into her powers which is Theo.
This book has a lot of heat and is generally really good to read. Both main characters feel very reserved and similar to one another. The book is more of a telling about things type of storytelling which is fine. It was a lot more somber feeling then I thought it would be.
I had questions like
The story is good and I enjoyed reading it. Looks like the Centaur has a story coming up and I have some .... questions. Which means Ill be reading it!.
Ellie quits her souless job and returns to her grandmas home after her grandma passes away.
Theo is a minotaur barker who left his clan and is looking for solitude. Helping Ellie get her grandma's bakery back up and running seems like the perfect place to do it.
Even though the kitchen is ancient, the rooms are too small and he has to carefully maneuver around to not break things
Turns out the town they land in is a mythical town holding back the creatures of the deep beyond the mist as well as a rival bakery owner just causing all sorts of issues.
Ellie finds out she is a siren and her grandma before her was holding back the monsters by singing. But she needs her ground in order to really come into her powers which is Theo.
This book has a lot of heat and is generally really good to read. Both main characters feel very reserved and similar to one another. The book is more of a telling about things type of storytelling which is fine. It was a lot more somber feeling then I thought it would be.

This was such a cute read! I loved it. It had a great plot, characters, perfect amount of coziness with added spice and just an all around great read.
Minotaur In The Muffin Tin follows Ellie. She has just recently inherited her grandmothers bakery. Ellie is up for a huge project though because her grandmother didn't have the finances to keep the place afloat and it was in need of a big facelift. She puts out a help wanted sign and this is when she meets Theo the minotaur. He has a lot of experience in the baking department and becomes a huge asset to Ellie and the bakery. Of course they develop feelings toward each other over time and then things really start to take off. Their connection is pure and come to find out they were actually destined to be together. Meanwhile, we have a rivalry bakery that is trying to destory Ellie's because they can't seem to share and support Ellie and only see them as competition.
If you enjoy your romance with monsters, a great plot and a good amount of spicy scenes then this is the book for you!

I’m OBSESSED with this cozy spicy little book lol. The writing is phenomenal, I giggled and swooned through the entire thing!
Theo & Ellie have such great chemistry! Rebuilding a bakery while putting up with a sabotaging, jealous local pastry chef, these two definitely have obstacles, especially when majority of the town is prejudice/scared of anything different than their basic human selves. And the spice? Gahhhh it was so… 😍🔥 it was demanding, sweet, HOT. When Theo marks Ellie, that entire scene had me sweating lol.
The love between them truly was so sweet!
Who knew all I needed was a cozy monster romance to get me out of a slump!?
Highly recommend and cannot wait to continue with this series!

It had potential. And the bones of the story were interesting.
However. This story was extremely verbose, to the point that it became exhausting at times to get through the overwhelming drawn-out details. There was also an unnecessary amount of repetitive writing.
Then there was the glaring issue of continuity. An event would take place & then it was as if the author realized they forgot to include certain details, so then added in those parts after the fact. It made it difficult to follow a timeline. I would go back and reread parts to try and figure out what day this was taking place.
It was an okay read, but could have really used some decent editing.

Anchors
Theo and Ellie were a lot to get into. I’m ashamed to say that I started and then stopped. But the story kept staring at me in my Kindle app because it didn’t have that ‘finished’ label on it. And I had the next couple of books in my library staring at me as well. So I buckled down and finished today. It all started making sense and drawing me back in. I loved the mystery of the fog and how Ellie and Theo had to work together to fight it, all while falling in love, fighting a sneaky rival and learning how to anchor each other for balance. I’m going on to book two now.

Mi dispiace, ma un no assoluto, scritto palesemente da un ai, poche descrizioni ben fatte, cose messe a casaccio, una cittadina che accoglie i mostri, una nebbia che circonda la città, lei che non tornava a casa sua da anni e quindi da sua nonna, non si sa niente dei suoi genitori, niente, tempi verbali sbagliati, si passa dal passato al presente nella stessa frase, non so poteva essere davvero un libro carinissimo, ma sviluppato così perde tanto, non so se si sono affidati all' ai per la traduzione oppure è proprio stato tutto scritto dall' ai, ma dopo neanche 200 pagine avrei voluto chiuderlo innumerevoli volte

I wasn't expecting the depth of words, turn of phrases, variety of situations, connection of characters and quotes that resonated with my morale compass and belief system. Many "Monster" stories are all about the heat and keep the fire burning without tending the story-this is definitely not one of those. This story was well done with mystery, intrigue, heat, heart, community and some evil humans that hide their monsters inside. A strong community rallying and a sense of belonging are lovely outputs of the story. I look forward to exploring others in the series.

This couple had their work cut out for them. Ellie came to deal with his grandma Roses estate and see if she would sell or keep the bakery. Theo is just traveling from kitchen to kitchen with no stop point planned.
They make a great team in the egg bakery and it seems they can in life too.
When Grandma Roses journal shows that they are more than just a chance pairing things start to click into place. They will need each other to settle hurts from their pasts.

Mythical romance
This was a read comprised of heat, small town cozy and in-depth internal dialogue. The POV was intricate, taking the steps to draw the reader into an immersive experience. I usually delete "freebies" after I read them. Being a writer myself, I've kept those that had a significant impact on how I perceive a well-constructed tale. Many memorable moments worth collecting and learning. This title is a KEEPER.

While this book did have some places it droned a bit, especially with certain themes and ideas being repeated more than necessary, it was a fun and good read. The antagonist fell a little 2-dimensional, but the other characters felt vibrant and real. It's not winning any awards, but it's a thoroughly enjoyable read and is exactly what it's supposed to be - a small town cozy monster romance. 4/5 stars.

This was a good book. It was a fun read. In my opinion, in the beginning there was more spice than actual connection. I felt the romance was a bit rushed in the beginning instead of slowly built. I would’ve liked more connection between the characters. As the story moved, it seemed they connected on a deeper level more and that helped. I also didn’t see the way this book was going to go at all in the beginning and it kind of threw me for a loop. I liked it! 😁

This story starts and you think you will get the typical cinnamon roll romance but this one had so much more depth and plot then I thought. I enjoyed how this two came together and made each other stronger with all that they go through to make this bakery work. The chemistry was soft and strong and the way these two fit one another makes for a really good story. This is a must read!

I liked the plot but the editing leaves something to be desired. There were times when the chronological flow of the story was unclear but worse than that, the POV changes was mixed up at a couple points.
Also, it involves one of my hated tropes- anything she can do, he can do better. So that soured my feelings on the book.

This is a cute, spicy, cozy monster romantasy. I'm a sucker for a magical baker and could not resist two of them. The FMC and MMC were both loveable and I really liked their relationship. I also the mystery plot and the slight world building for Mist Hollow. I am interested in possibly reading the rest of the series.

Pretty sure this is ai. It’s choppy, inconsistent, and lacks soul. Some of it makes no sense either. When have you ever had to knead muffin batter? Ridiculous. The characters feel robotic and the prose is so repetitive. The descriptions always follow a pattern (“not x. Not y. But this other third thing”)It’s lazy and infuriates me that these are becoming so common.
