FBI Special Agent Allie Bishop has met with trial after trial, each one more challenging than the last. After everything life has recently thrown at her, Allie decides it would do her some good to take some personal time away, and a solo backpacking trip seems just the thing. She soon finds herself deep in the desolate wilderness of the Cascades, completely unplugged from normal life and enjoying all the peace and serenity that nature can offer.
But everything begins to unravel when she is forced off the trail and finds herself deep in unknown territory. Lost, and battling concerns over wild animals and harsh elements, Allie soon discovers that something darker lurks in these woods.
Along the way, she stumbles on someone quite unexpected, and where the trail leads from there is anywhere but safe.

Another hit from Eva. I really enjoy this series. I loved Allie’s solo hiking journey as a way to heal, reconnect with herself, and finally open herself up to being loved. Hagan was the standout character for me, while Jason and Victoria took more of a backseat. It was great to see Allie grow from a rookie agent into a confident decision-maker, and I especially loved the hopeful ending, where she finally allowed herself to imagine a romantic future. A great mix of suspense and character growth!
This book started by going on a self reflecting hike in the wilderness with unbelievable consequences, to saving 2 children and ended up by shutting down the shipment of dangerous illegal cargo, then on to battling the criminals behind it. The life of an FBI agent just doesn't have much down time in an Eva Sparks books.
Love this series with Allie Bishop and friends. I sure hope her and Ethene goes in the right direction and he's in it more in the story. This one kept me on my toes wanting to know what's happening with he characters. I can hardly wait for number 11.
I just love this writer. I haven't read a.book she wrote that I didn't like. The characters that move.from book to book feel like family. The setting in this book was unexpected for a story about an FBI agent but there was still plenty of action and suspense.
This was the best book since the first in my opinion. I still saw some inconsistencies such as when Ethan was about to search for Allie and Jason asked where Shep was he said with his sister not his aunt.
Wow Ms Sparks!! You did it again. Allies adventures are always striking full of mystery and delight. This book was interesting bc of the content of the crime and criminals and how it all unfolded!
I loved this book! I think Eva Sparks has found the perfect fit for this story line and my only regret is I am caught up on this series and now have to wait for the next book.
